This issue has been going on since SAF left. I remember the first time I heard about this was during LVG's tenure where he mentioned that Giggs said to him - before we played Everton away (which we lost) - that the players didn't look like they were up for it or words to that effect. At the time, we were coming off of a decent run, but we still needed to keep going, and we played like we couldn't be arsed. Now if I were a coach or manager and noticed that some of the players didn't look bothered, I would have addressed this promptly before they went out on to the pitch. Was puzzled as to why no one on the coaching team did anything.

Now I wonder why is that? Why did that mentality sneak into our dressing room? Most of the players have gone. The only SAF era players are DDG, Carrick, Smalling, Jones and Young. Is it their influence, or what? New players just come in and soon enough they get this shit attitude as well.

Or is it the constant pressure at United, as let's face it SAF is no longer around to keep the hounds at bay.

I'm puzzled about this though. It's obvious we have a mentality issue, so why is the manager not addressing this? Or is Jose the wrong man to change this? I dunno, but it's a big problem.
You just think how SAF used that last minute win by City to motivate the players for the following season. To not let that happen again. I hope Jose went through them like a dose of salts. We cannot have players cruising through games. They have to give everything.

There is something fundamentally wrong with this team not just because they lost to newcastle - a championship elect team that breezes and plays so.
I do believe it has a lot to do with the coach.

I agree. However, we need to understand that SAF's will, charisma and his incomparable talent for motivation cannot be replicated - not by Jose, Pep or no current manager. None of them would have won the league in 2013 with the team SAF had. Therefore, we can't really look to how the players responded to him versus the shite their serving up now.

Jose needs to sort it in his own way, but he's got to help himself. He's unbalanced the dressing room with the way he's introduced Alexis. Now you and me would just get on with our jobs irrespective of who has joined our place of work and if we have to suffer a bit to accommodate them otherwise we'd be sacked, but these footballers are a different breed.
Unfortunately, they cost a lot of money and have big egos that need to be managed, such is the nature of players nowadays. The manager will really need to be firm but diplomatic at the same time. I unfortunately don't trust Jose to do this properly. I sincerely hope that his assistant Rui can help out in this respect.

Problem is that every Tom, Dick and Harry are having their say on the matter. He just needs to do it his way. Then we just have to hope his way is the right way. I also agree that the players egos nowadays are immense. They have too many people whispering in their ears, saying how fantastic they are. When sometimes they need those people to give them some home truths. They are grown men, but are actually spoilt children.

Stop making so much sense! This thread is for knee jerking and rage only!

Today was because of 3 things.

1. Shoehorning Alexis into the team and also trying to keep in players like Lingard and Martial because they are in good form. Fair play bbein consistent but in away games we simply must play Herrera to help the midfield out. Put Sanchez on the right and let him drift, and please God drop young for Shaw.

2. Missed chances, martial and Sanchez should have scored and if they did we'd not be in this position now.

3. Being out fought in midfield and dinkys giving up because they wanted it more.

Shame we are outfought in midfield every game practically.

The midfield isn't the only issue Lukaku lumbers about rarely puts pressure on an opponent when they have the ball and the team don't generally hunt as a pack.

Another thing what was noticeable was how our side, except the hardy defenders, were all wearing mittens, unlike the manly Newcastle players, even the foreign ones. I always think this is pathetic, & never occurred in the past & hardly in lower leagues. Just a small thing, but our lot looked like a bunch of poseurs in comparison.

Kittens with Mittens sounds about right or even Puss in Boots.

Got you beat . I've been saying it for months...nearly a year now. Jose die hards won't listen until it gets really bad though...

Add me to your band Nate dogg. I was a huge Mourinho fan by the way, but that Mourinho's gone. Seems too scarred by his Madrid experience and his last season with Chelsea. This version looks nothing like Mourinho of a decade ago.
