Missed the game. Got mugged on the way home and have been in hospital getting my head glued back together.

Seen the result, not shocked and 100% behind Ole.

Off-topic, but the scrote who kicked me in the face and stamped on my head three times deserves death. That's what he tried to give me.

Roll on the next game.
WTF! I hope you’re ok

I think people are giving ole a pass, whenever has football been a game that one team automatically beats another simply because there are better individuals on a team ? It's a weak excuse. Tactically Solskjaer was outclassed by Tuchel and it was a pretty simplistic nullification of our wide players and man mark on Pogba to stifle us meaning we had nothing more to offer.

I am still waiting for anyone to explain how we have benefited from a coaching perspective in terms of our individual play, giving players "freedom" or the ability to "express" themselves is not enough because it means we are only using intuition to progress as a team and anytime we come up against a well coached team, we will struggle it's evident against Burnley recently and Tottenham (away) as a result of their poor finishing we got lucky. Coaching wise and tactically we are miles behind City and Liverpool, we looked so disjointed this evening. The reason why im putting emphasis on the management in Mike and Solskjaer is because no new players would have changed that result.

Mourinho got criticized because his "love" for Fellaini. But isn't Ole "love" for Mata the same?
Mourinho was right. Our quality sucks, and we seemed to have no right to stand on the same field with PSG last night. The difference in class was too huge. We were so bad that Di Maria's decision to leave us seemed justified. And he actually schooled us with his assist too. Proper eggs to the face for us.

Loss of Martial and Lingard killed it for us. Before that I was more confident we could get a result.

We also had way too much respect for PSG, taking extra time to Pass the ball, which ruined the flow and slowed our game.

We have clearly lost our CL mojo, it hurts. Will take a couple of years to build that back.

I liked how Ole responded to questions after the match. He’s such an optimistic guy and says all the right things. Love the guy. SAF always said the big test is how you recover after a loss.

I think we can give PSG a hard time in Paris. They may feel complacent now, which can help us. A win and qualifying is unlikely but giving them a scare would be enjoyable to watch and a good experience for the squad.

I refuse to believe the tie is 100% over.

Would love to blitz PSG in their back yard.

Would need a masterclass from Herrera and Matic. But they're bottlers, historically, at this stage.

A goal at OT would have been ideal. But Marcus, Tony and Jesse on the pitch for 90 minutes would have me more confident.

I admire your optimism, but I see zero way back for us. We bottled it, unfortunately. At home, with some of their best players out that was the best chance we could have hoped for. The tie is as good as over, I just hope we can go out with a bit of fire in us as last night we were damp as can be.

How much of this was on Ole? Should we be worries tactically going forward?
I think pretty much none of it. We held our own in the first half when we had our starting 11 on and that is fairly impressive on its own right now. When we have a very clear starting 11 and a big drop off from that it’s hard to implement any tactical flexibility and easy for oppo managers to guess at what we are going to do.

I think this coaching team has proven to be tactically competent at the very least and without different/better players on the bench there’s only so much they can do.

Damn... Wishing you all the best, mate. I hope they catch the guy who attacked you.

Was not optimistic before the game, but am now pissed about the injuries. Moyes, LvG and JM, 3 managers in 5 seasons with no proper EPL or CL challenge, no proper direction in transfers and tactics. We were the deserved losers today.

To lose two of our best at halftime was worse than to start without them.

The fact Mata is still his go to on the RW is worrying. It’s insane. Really think it should be Fred. He’s quick enough for it, that or the youth should have been trusted in the earlier games. How could a professional choose Mata on the RW after it’s been proven for a long time to not work? If you use him you slide him underneath Rashford what should have been Lukaku for a

Let's take positives.

United were never going to win the Champions League this term. At least not having to worry about Europe probably secures the top-four with relative ease and a good chance to strengthen in the summer.

I think that the Pogba red card was the nail in the coffin. With him on the team, I think United's chance of a comeback are at least decent but without him it's going to be difficult.

We lost to a good team no shame in that. We were not that bad. The match highlighted our weaknesses quite well and the injuries to Lingard and Martial pretty much seemed to kill our game. What about the referee, he was so bad! ? I was laughing at his decisions in the first ten and then I was fuming around half time. Worst referee.

Sanchez is so bad it is unreal.

Hopefully we can recover martial and Lingard by then. Id still like us to have a good attempt at it- even without Pogba .

The squad's paper thin. We have no quality in the squad outside of the 11 Ole picked out as seen today.

The only thing I'll put on Ole is bringing on Mata instead of Lukaku. Lukaku would've offered something from the right at least. I don't remember Mata contributing anything of note.

The referee was terrible, but at the end of the day United just didn't show up. This was probably the best opportunity for them to make something happen in the CL this season, they were in good form, confidence was high, PSG was badly hurt, and on top of that were doing pretty poorly in recent Ligue 1 and cup games. I honestly don't really count this as something against Ole though, I just think it's a reality check for the team that they are still missing some important pieces. Ole came in at the right time because the schedule was soft and it's allowed him to develop his team in another scheme than Mourinho and he's done incredibly well but the team itself is not ready to challenge the Premier league or the CL. I'm interested to see how they respond to that, there's some difficult games ahead and this could be a catalyst to spark the team on for the Premier league. Sometimes a reality check is the best thing that can happen to a team.

My initial observations:

  • The game was very even until the first goal by PSG. While we didn't really play well, their passing was fairly aimless too and our pressing was mostly effective.
  • I really don't know what Matic is doing for the 1st goal. As an underdog, and we are just that against PSG, you cannot let the superior team have people unmarked in the box. For a player whose strength is supposedly his defensive and physical qualities, it was a huge let down to make a mistake that took the wind out of our sails completely.
  • Martial and Lingard were a huge loss. While they weren't great, their presence seemed to give us belief and kept PSG on their toes. Once we had the two slower wingers we had no zip in our play.
  • But besides the above specifics, lete be honest here - we do not pass it like PSG do. People will blame the likes of Pogba and other individuals but this is about the collective. PSG as a unit are at the level where their aim is to win the CL. Ours is to ENTER the CL at the moment (hopefully changes next season). I felt we could beat them but much would have to go our way. Our cohesion, fluidity etc has a long way to go to reach the level of City, PSG etc it's the wake up call everybody at United needed. We've been getting good results but our results aren't really as dominant as that wouldn't suggest because we aren't suddenly a top side. Much work for Ole to do.

It was a corner that broke us. Granted PSG were better up to that. I thought Verratti was immense in the MF. He controlled the game.

Pity we conceded the second. That is the tie over with. Injuries to Martial and Lingarrd did not help.

We put in a lot of crosses and sometimes there was no one in the box. Frustrating because some of the crosses were hitting the right areas.

PSG defense was very good. Lukaku perhaps would have done better. They were very good in containing Rashford. They bullied him.

Ref was not great.

Yeah tonight showed we should make Verratti our top target in CM this summer, know he would cost a bomb but definitely worth it

Disagree. It was even enough, although they were controlling the ball better. We had two counters in the first half that came to nothing.

On another night we score from a corner and then defend the lead and hit them on the counter.
and that would be wishful thinking on your part - possible but not dependable.

Don't agree, ole has only been here for two months and is dealing with a weaker squad then psg . What we had on the bench didn't help especially when you lose your key elements to your game plan which is pace and it ain't Ole's fault matic fell asleep on corner duty .
Doesnt change the fact that the way he got it wrong tactically - we didnt have the personnel to play 3 v 4 in midfield against PSG

With Pogba not available, it is not going to happen. Cavani will be back. Veratti will be at full fitness.
It will be much much tougher than today's game.
Whatever be their history.

I still have some belief.

It will be very difficult and will require an absolute beast of a performance from both Herrera and Matic.

Lingard at false 9, split the defence with Martial and Rashford. Herrera and Matic sitting with Mata as an advanced midfielder.

A goal at home would have done wonders for our chances.

Injuries and the ref cost us a lot.

I don't agree with that at all, both teams were fluffing their attacks on the final ball and we were forced into subbing on 2 players whom psg could easily keep quiet, giving them the advantage in attack.

End of the day goals change games and while we never know what the final score would have been had kimbempe been rightfully sent off, he woudnt have been the one to score their first.
Then I advise you rewatch the entire game, and this time try not to focus on only when the ball is close to the goal.

The subs came at the end of the first half and it was already evident before then that were tactically disadvantaged. PSG had 4 players in midfield and had Di Maria and Drax dropping to help as well. Our 3-man midfield was overrun numerically.

This is what I have been trying to say the past few week. You stated my concern perfectly. The level I want United to reach is where City and Liverpool are now or even higher. I honestly don’t see Ole as the guy that will take us there. The season is still young though and he has a chance to change my mind.

If I was in the board at United, I will be monitoring Pochettino, Tuchel and Marco Rose as managerial option for next season.

Better team won. They were just better with the ball, their passing, their first touch and making space.

The only good news is Pogba gets a rest soon. We are playing for 4th and, hopefully, our management will buy a few more better players. OGS still has my support as he didn't do anything wrong. Once Martial and Lingard went out the die was cast really.

Aaahhh yes. I forgot the joys of the Champions League ...unparalleled garbage refereeing.

PSG were the better team. By far. We lost the match as soon as Lingard and Martial were forced off. We lost the tie with Pogba going off...for yet another disgraceful European night decision. So much worse than Nani's sending off.

Not even close. When Pogba saw his second yellow the tie was practically over, it didn't change much. And even though Alves is a massive cnut, the second yellow was justified. With Nani on the other hand we were cruising to the next round until the sending off, which wasn't even a foul, let alone a straight red.

We were not outclassed contrary to popular opinion here. We were just very, very poor today collectively.

Yes we were, unfortunately. We were to them what Arsenal are to us. Men vs. boys.

The greatest tactics will not survive the loss of two key players, a lousy ref, and a general lack of execution. No blame here on Ole.

I thought the game was very close up until the 1st goal. From there we had to open up and gave up the second on the counter which is always a threat when chasing the game. I don’t think Ole was outclassed by Tuchel or vice versa.

PSG are just a tighter unit than us, fair result. That wasn't some heartbreaking CL loss for me. Ole can gleam a lot from this. And I can't help feel we are going to see more injuries until the end of the season as we are playing at a higher intensity than we have in eons.

Lots of negativity on here which I don't think is totally justified. PSG are a strong team and they've learnt from their previous two seasons. We were in it in the first half and Rashford almost caught out Buffon at the near post. Losing Martial and Lingard cost us as their replacements were poor. We lost to a better side, didn't get hammered and hopefully will learn from it. Pogba sending off would have been more understandable if they had been deservedly down to 10 men too. Nothing more frustrating than inconsistent refereeing.
