CL L Champions League Group B

PSV Eindhoven 2:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Tue, 15 September 2015

We are such a cowardly team full of cowardly players.
The complete opposite to what we were under SAF.
We had 30mins to to get a goal but i bet 90% of the people on here knew we wouldn't,
We just fall apart when something goes against us. Shaws injury would of motivated a lot of teams to try and win the match, not us though, our players were just feeling faint over it.

A bunch of fecking panzies and this laughably weak mentality is down to one man.

Physically angry, Im still in agony over Shaw. Most in form left back in the world with a broken leg.

Utter coward of a referee.

That was the best ive seen us play offensively (other than the last 20 minutes) under LVG.

We played well but missed our chances, as much as he did well for the goal, memphis was bloody wasteful, he's too casual with the ball sometimes.

Young does everything right but his final delivery was atrocious.

I'd have taken a draw. Win your home games, draw your away games, you're through.

Should have been 4-0 up at half time. If it was anyone but Smalling through on goal, then we'd have had at least another.

Should have had a penalty and Moreno should have been off, and that would have been the end of it. Huge injustice there, and we lose our best outfield player until March at the earliest. Horrible night.

What a surprise, United go a goal up, lose the lead and have no idea how to get back into the game. That sums up VG's United

One of those nights, couple of poor performances but I thought we looked dangerous going forward. Shaw injury is the biggest blow.

That's how I see it as well. Looked encouraging for the first hour but we did fall to pieces when PSV took the lead.

Possibly a mental problem with this side, definite inexperience with Herrera, Martial and Depay but the likes of Mata really should have done better.

Not going to say a bad word about the players this evening. I've played in a game where we were 3-1 up, one of the lads suffered an horrific injury like that and we went on to lose. I know first hand how it can effect you.

Horrible night though. Thought the ref was really poor and think PSV are leaving with 3 of the luckiest points they'll ever win. Get well soon Luke.

More people need to read this post.

I've been there as well. Arsenal fell apart after Eduardo broke his leg too.

Some major overreaction in the matchday thread. Mata wasn’t terrible and we did go with a lightweight midfield. We didn’t have to. Then Louis makes a terrible sub in throwing on Fellaini for Herrera, further limiting our strength in midfield and people get all upset about Mata not being able to dominate a midfield with a clearly tired Bastian. And what does Fellaini do? What he was of course going to do unless he came on as a #10: slow us down and lose more possession.

Terrible about Shaw. Absolutely devastating.

But there are major positives in the game - this is where we saw Martial can become our main striker and we look threatening with him, he’s strong in holding up the ball and his link up play is top class for a 19 year old. Lining up with actual wingers makes us better. Maybe we’ll see youngsters get a chance on the right.

I think we were extremely unfortunate to lose the game. Bad mistakes for sure, but we looked much the better side IMV, until van Gaal made his subs.

I'm starting to get pretty bloody sick of this. All the possession, limp in front of goal, beaten on the counter by teams that don't faff about when attacking and actually take their chances.

It's all very predictable and it's all the opposition are going to do for the rest of the season

Darmian shite, Mata shite, Blind at LB shite, Fellaini and Valencia on, shite, short set pieces, shite, Luke Shaw's injury ... have a guess.

Absolutely clueless out there, hope half of them don't start at the weekend, Memphis, Martial and Smalling were fairly good, the rest, the less said the better. The amount of times Smalling made a decent run into space and Blind just ignored him and passed backwards was a joke, Schweinstieger deciding to have 10 second time outs in the middle of the pitch before picking a shit pass, Mata at the #10 playing like he's never played before. Herrera rushing absolutely everything. Terrible performance, maybe Shaw's injury had something to do with it, tbf it probably did, but no excuse out there tonight because PSV were there for the taking.

I don't see the point in brining on Fellaini if we're not gonna start whipping balls in the box. The free-kick at the end was LOLbad.

Thought we played quite well though. We fizzled out at the end but overall it wasn't a bad performance. Martial looks perfect for the lone striker role.

All Van Gaal's fault that.
Mostly is. His lack of transfer in the attacking department is what has led to this situation where we have to depend on Fellaini coming on for long balls when we need a goal.

One of those fecking matches where everything goes wrong.

This piece of shit doesn't get sent off, we don't get a penalty and then he goes to fecking score against us. Then you've got us clowning in defence, the only department that didn't fail this season thus far, Rizzoli being fecking inept and all this shit.

I'm so fecking pissed off.

For once I'm not disappointed with the performance. I think the Shaw injury took a lot from our players mentally. The result is bad, but ultimately secondary to Luke's horrific leg break.

We were bright in places, DDG had nothing to do, and I'm sure LVG will lift the players for Southampton.

One of the bigger champions league shocks this season.

Let's face it, PSV aren't a good team, they are an OK team.

We simply do not have a plan B and for over a year it's not been addressed by LVG.

Gonna throw it out there, Marital looks like a pub player

Yeaah... No.

PSV played us off the pitch.

PSV. Seriously. PS fecking V.

And some people here are talking about the title. Bloody hell the title
I'm sorry but what fecking game were you watching :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

PSV played us off the pitch :lol:

How the feck did we lose that? I liked the formation, a couple of mistakes cost us the game. Martial, is going to be a very good CF. Most importantly I hope Luke Shaw recovers well.

feck this game, feck right off.

We should have been 3-0 up at half time with the chances we had. First Swansea, then this... we need to learn to kill off these games.

The pace in the attack helped but, just like against Swansea, we were in big trouble whenever a winger got behind our fullbacks. It doesn't happen often but we're very vulnerable to crosses.

When Depay scored that nice goal, I thought something might be salved from this evening despite Shaw's horrific injury. But no. Nothing.

Mata was terrible, the Fellaini sub was shite, refereeing was even shiter, and the Shaw injury overshadowed the rest of the performance.

I honestly don't know which was worse. That match or the thread.

That thread is genuinely one of the worst things I've seen on this forum. I mean, I know match day threads get pretty bad, but that was something else.

We had an off night, you could tell by the sheer number of individual errors from people who usually don't make them. Honestly, after one of your teammates suffers such a horrific injury, it's not entirely surprising. Despite all that, we actually managed to play some good football (certainly better then most of our PL games) and created a shed load of chances. On another day we would have won at a canter.

Hell, I bet if Shaw hadn't got injured, we'd have won this game.

just the thought of having Valencia and Fellaini as your options when chasing a game is totally wrong.

All on LvG am afraid.

Not sure why people are criticising Fellaini as an option of the bench. In fact that is all he is really good for.

Losing a game against a terrible side.

What annoyed me the most is that we had no one to bring one. Manchester United should not be hoping limited, average players like Valencia and Fellaini can change a game for you. Especially after the money that has been spent and the players that have been sold.

But whatever. Done now

He left us with a squad that requires Fellaini to be our saviour. Who's fault is that?
Can't believe LVG injured Rooney and Shaw, give Darmian a brain fart, organise a referee who can't see pen if it hit him in the face, gave Mata the touch of brick wall in the final 3rd.

That game is all on the players, when you dominate a game like that and don't win, you'll be mental to blame LVG.
