Decent starts to each half, but the last 35 minutes was so frustrating. As bad as we've played this season. Utter shite of a shiteness.

Schneiderlin was absolutely awful in midfield, gave away so many balls and missed so many tackles, but it was him vs. three PSV midfielders in there. Schweinsteiger more often than not goes wandering, and after he went off, there seemed to be no one even nominally playing next to Schneiderlin.

Fellaini was awful. He looks like he hasn't seen a football since the last time he started. He remembered how to give away free kicks, though.

Mata hardly got a touch, Young marginally better though we didn't get the ball to him nearly enough.

Lingard and Martial started off promising, but were absolutely starved of service in the second half.

Their formation switch to a back 3 worked a treat for them. It allowed them to have more bodies in midfield with support from the wingbacks. Arias at right back got behind our entire left flank. He was great in defence as well.

The second half was a pure joke. Nothing less. What a shit half of football. Rather watch Rapid Vienna playing EL again.

Of all the CL matches today only ours ended without a goal from both teams, I finally get the philosophy, its basically a pretty form of anti - football, where you keep all the possession, dont let other team get the ball, along with your team not doing anything with the ball, and just whip in cross after cross, or try and score from a set piece

Dont know why hes spent 250mill when you can play that football without spending a penney

Did we ever boo during Moyes' tenure? I cant really remember OT booing our team like this until this season..

I feckING SPED HOME FROM WORK AND GOT FLASHED TO SEE THIS SHIT? I'M GONNA SEND MY SPEEDING TICKET TO LVG AND DEMAND HE PAYS FOR IT. PATHETIC PERFORMANCE. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC.

That's a truly diabolical performance. Don't think I can take many more of these insipid performances and remain van Gaal-pro. Well, I can't relly say that anyway. Definitely swaying more to anti-LVG and have been for a while.

Looked out on our feet in the second half, tackling was all over the show. We couldn't win a 50/50 to save our lives.

Knew we weren't going to do anything as soon as Fellaini come on, we just automatically give up on any other type of attack and start pumping balls up to a player that never actually produces anything with them.

That was diabolical from start to finish.
Why do we always come out walking, where is the fecking urgency, i'm irked sitting here typing this,
Unacceptable to play like that.

TBF we had our chances and should have scored in the first half. We started the second half strong but after that we just stopped. Last 30 mins - i have no words for that.

Beyond shite. i was fecking delighted when we appointed LVG. I thought he was an attack minded coach that was going to revolutionise our play. I'm so disappointed in his tenure.

PSV were there for the taking tonight. For about ten minutes in the second half we upped the tempo and had them rattled. Then he reverted back to the languid, ponderous style of play he's trademarked since taking over and we never looked like winning the game from then on.

if this isn't a knee jerk emotional post I don't know what is!

I was sat in the Arsenal end watching us get absolutely rinsed only a few weeks ago.
This wasn't nearly the worst performance of the season tonight!
In that game we were playing against Arsenal away. Tonight we were playing at home against shite.

You just never know which United you're going to see turn up and play.

You either get the United that turned up at Everton, with lots of movement, pace on the ball, creating chances. Or you get the stick in the mud static possession football played at walking pace, where any player who gets a counter attacking opportunity cowers and plays a 40 yard pass back to the centre backs.

It was the latter tonight, obviously. PSV had their chances to come at us, and when we won it back, it's almost like we waited for them to get back in to shape before moving forward.

Lindgard was getting pelters for missing that chance, but he was the only player in the front 6 looking to take the ball forward and attack PSV when they were short. He was the only player who seemed capable of passing the ball and then MOVING.

You really have to hope we win games within the first hour or so, because we just see no urgency to win the game when the game starts to close up and the opponent becomes much happier with a point. Even Moyes threw bodies forward in the last 10. Nothing changes with LvG. Whether it's the first 5 minutes or the last 5 minutes, we slowly bring the ball forward and just hope a chance can be carved out when the other team has 10 men behind the ball.

I really don't think we'll go through.

First half was ok. Second half was abysmal. The lack of quality was clear to see but what really pissed me off was the lack of urgency from a lot of our players. Did they realise they haven't qualified yet?

After Schweiny, who himself had a bad game, was subbed off we completely lost it. Fellaini and Depay were awful today. Still, created enough to score and win it, should've taken our chances

I was in and out with this one due to a baby. Let me guess: 60/40ish possession, 3x as many passes, and any rare real chances we fluffed.

Is that about right?

The one thing Robbie Savage said all night that wasn't annoyingly stupid or at best obvious: We looked knackered in the last half hour. Have we got fitness problems?
I think yes. Smalling and Blind haven't been rotated at all this season. Rooney is fat, Martial probably wasn't fully fit. Schweinsteiger struggles to play 2 full 90 minutes in 3-4 days. etc etc

That was diabolical from start to finish.

It's gutting. Especially when Liverpool look better with every game they play under Klopp.

Only got to see the last 20 minutes or so, which included a feck load of crap.

At least you guys were lucky enough to see us apparently get a few chances.

My theory is that, if Mata plays instead of Rooney in the hole and has Martial, Lingard and Young as three attacking players... We may actually perform well.... On the contrary, I do think that Lingard is not good enough to start and we should be buying a winger if we are going to play the way we are playing at the moment

How could be find it that hard to simply get the ball forward? Incredible stuff. We actually seemed unable to move the ball into their half. Rarely seen anything as absurd as that.

Worst second half performance of the season. I'm absolutely fuming at that. Thought we were quite good if profligate first half, and then made a ridiculous sub far too early in the second, for no real reason, and were beyond pathetic after that.
Yep. Everything about the second half was a bit of a farce. The inability to pass, those absolutely terrible substitutions, everything. Fellaini replacing Schweinsteiger after less than an hour was just bemusing.

Thank god we aren't playing against Bayern Barca etc., the embarrassment would destroy us.

You say that, but even Moyesie gave it a good shot v Bayern! And remember v Madrid with Fergie when everyone thought we'd get smashed?

It's these games where we presume we should win we come unstuck

Another baffling aspect was Schneiderlin clearly struggling to do anything right since the second half started, so what does LVG do? Brings off Bastien, puts Fellaini up front and leaves it to Rooney to "help" him out. Basically left Schneiderlin 1 vs 3 and left us so exposed whenever they got the ball back.

The first half wasn't awful but that second half was abysmal. We looked knackered, our passing was sloppy and the sooner we get rid of Fellaini the better.
I'd also pack LvG's bags. There's no passion, energy or risk in the team.

Is that about right?

No urgency, no desire, no nothing, walking speed football.
Otherwise... yea.
