If we get through to the quarters, we'll get a lesson from one of the remaining teams (and that might be City or Liverpool). We have absolutely no cohesion as a team, I dont even know what the tactics are, and that's just unacceptable given Jose's been here almost 2 years and spent a fortune. He seems to be fed up and lost his mojo, unfortunately we have a habit of getting players and managers who are past their prime (Ibra, Schweinsteiger, LVG, now Jose).

We wont. We will just sit back like tonight or Chelsea did last night and which ever team will struggle to break us down.

Shocking performance tonight, McTominay was our best outfield player by a mile, he was so calm on the ball and made it look easy. Can't believe Lukaku lasted 90 minuets on the pitch, didn't see him win a single header the entire match .we were lucky to get away with a draw tonight. Absolutely fuming!!

Can't say I'm surprised but it's shite seeing other teams go away and play really well and then watching us produce that shit and having our two most talented youngsters on the bench for basically the entire game.

Boring game, but we got a result. A 0-0 result in a place where the team has only lost 8 home games is a decent result (at least that is what the US commentators said).

Positives
De Gea was solid
Lindelof played well
Mctominay played ok, but faded as the game wore on. This will be important since Hererra will be out for awhile.

Negatives
Lukaku was poor holding the ball up and linking up
Mata was ineffective
Young and Smalling are the weak defending links

6/10 performance. Didn't win the tie, but definitely didn't loose it either.

Not the most exciting performance but other than the brilliant DDG save just before half-time we weren't in much danger either.

Mourinho set out for a draw hoping to a nick a goal. Reasonable result, should beat them at home and if we can't beat them we don't deserve to go through anyway

An away goal would have been nice. Now, need to score 2 at Old Trafford just to be comfortable.
Hoping the line up was also with an eye on the Chelsea fixture. Shame about Herrera injury. Was playing well too.
Looked like a hamstring- weeks out probably. Not good. Hope Carrick is fit.

What the hell did I just watch? Do these guys have balls? Do they have desire and spirit to win? We are a laughing stock. Sure, it's progress, compared to last season, but come on, that was pathetic.

Sorry but I don’t see no progress compared to last year. After watching that I really don’t know if I should laugh or cry

Shambles. A better opponent would've wrapped up the tie in the first leg. Mourinho is tactically bankrupt and a coward. There is no way you can compare the two squads, ours is vastly superior yet it was Montella who set up to attack. The distance between Lukaku and our creative players was far too large and we had to rely on long balls in the first half. The second half was somehow worse with us not getting anything going at all in the final third.

This is strictly down to the manager and the way he sets up the team. I am slowly but surely turning against Mourinho. I am not optimistic about the next few weeks with some big games coming up and us needing a result to stay 2nd in the league, compete in the FA Cup and attempting to go through the next round in the CL.

Me too! The players must be getting pissed off playing like this, it must be so demoralizing for them. It just gets worse every game.

What did we control?

They didn’t really trouble us much bar the De Gea save. It was clearly the gameplan to keep them at bay with the 3-man midfield and bring pace later on to steal something. Boring crappy game but job done overall. We were there to tick a box. Box ticked and we move on.

I'm not blaming him for doing his job. He was our MOTM by a country mile. I'm fuming at our defending and how we put him under pressure. There were opportunity to clear the ball before but we didn't.
Thought Smalling and Lindelöf did alright tonight, all things considered but Young and Valencia, both wingers who don't have the legs to play wing anymore so are converted full backs, have occasional brain farts and let forward players get away from them. We need major recruitment in those positions. We're holding it together at the moment.

This is not the Juventus Pogba, nonchalantly jogging about play completely passing him by, loosing the ball, not even the hint of an attempt of a tackle - whats up with the guy ? Not surprised Mourinho didnt start him he needs to sort his head out fast.

Not a terrible result, but not at all inspiring. A score draw would have been better for a little bit of a cushion. Score draw is always a good result in an away 1st leg, but it didn't look like scoring was the aim of the game tonight, but to merely avoid defeat. We pushed that close to its limits as well.

Shame Herrera got injured early on. He looked like exactly what we needed tonight against an energetic press. He was mobile, stayed tight, won the ball and released it quickly. It was all so slow after that.

They're a right set of divers though. I hope we smash them at home.

Not a good team at this level are we? Seville are no mugs going forward but should be gettable-at from what I've seen.

I'm not sure we'll get through, Seville ought to fancy it

Not all down to Mourinho by any means, he's a handy scapegoat though, innit?

He got sacked for poor performances and poor results. We’re getting better results and at times playing better Football.

He got sacked for finishing 4th, then 5th + FA cup, apparently with inferior players, not really anything worse than what we’ve done so far under Mourinho, who let’s face it, was saved by the Europa league cup having the prize of a CL place.

It’s all well and good saying 2nd in the league and still in CL, but the season hasn’t ended yet.

I don’t expect us to play phenomenal every week, but for a club of Uniteds supposed stature, the performance that we saw tonight should be the exception, not the overwhelming norm they have become.

We are awful to watch. Lukaku is woeful and should be dropped. We look completely out of ideas going forward. Please lets see a front 3 of Martial, Sanchez and Mata/Lingard without Lukaku clogging up our play.

Alright, does no one else remember the last time we played a team in the UCL 1/16 finals that was not Real? 2011, 0-0, awful away game against Marseille.

The trick is actually winning against them at OT.

Well in 2010 we went to the San Siro and beat Milan 3-2 in the first leg.

I like Jose and really want him to succeed here, but at this point I am wondering what are we really practicing on the training ground.
We were caught unawares defensively on multiple occasions. It was luck, poor finishing and one of the greatest goalkeepers that helped us keep a clean sheet.
The midfield feels porous and uncertain. We don't seem to win many challenges or intercept many passes. We definitely can’t move up the field efficiently. Our only attacking move seems to be to get the ball up to Lukaku, hope he holds it up, and others can join later. We have very few runners in the box. It all feels very static and disjointed.
Last 10 minutes, when Sevilla got tired, we atleast tried to do something with the ball. We really need to pull our socks up, crucial tough games are going to be coming thick and fast.

I'd also like to add, our inability to force our style of play (whatever that is) on, let's face it, an average Champions League side is a huge worry.

Even more so having watched Tottenham and Chelsea do quite well against far superior sides.

I'm very disappointed, we got a point, but I've come to loathe Sevilla what with the time they spent on the floor and there's no way they belong at this level. My disappointment stems from the fact we might not either.

Very decent result.

I think a lot of negativity is due to City and Liverpool getting good results in their respective games.

Kane would look like an old beaten up cart horse after 10 games with us.

Hoping we can find some of that early season form soon. Would be a great time to start picking up.

God, that game felt about 5 hours long, truly dreadful football by both teams. Draw is a decent result. On to Chelsea.

A professional performance. Some may not like the fact that Jose has given Seville too much respect despite them having the 3rd best home record in La Liga.
Despite the rose-tinted glasses, but Fergie has done this many times especially after the 2000s. Get a pragmatic result in the 1st leg and then beat teams at OT.

More worryingly for me is how much better we looked once Alexis was subbed. Better flow, passing and basically, the players knew where everyone was going to be.
Jose will need the summer to figure out how to integrate Alexis into the attack.
Sanchez tries to do too much right now. The ball sticks when it gets to him. We clearly don't work on passing combinations so it's on him to try and learn to play within the team

Got what I feared tonight in that we carried our league performances into the Champions League. It's not a bad result and I didn't expect anything else, but I wondered whether individually the players would raise their levels. And they didn't.

So that's a little concerning. Everything feels a bit flat. Needlessly so. Yes, the league is gone, but we're still in two comps.
