Alan Smith was a decent signing until he broke his leg!He is up there. Bebe, Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Taibi, and Alan Smith were pretty bad

He is a far better player than he has shown at United. Something has happened in his head. He used to have a cocky swagger about him. But all that confidence seems to have been lost. He's been at the club for a while now and he has been absolutely terrible.
A youth player (which would be free for us) would likely have played at the same standard as he has for us.
I think he'll be yet another Dortmund failure, for us.
Anyone else count Maguire's touches when he receives the ball from Lindelof, seeing how long it takes him to make a pass, allowing the opposition to get set into their shape.
Honestly lads, once you see it, you can't unsee it.
Taibi barely played, but more importantly.... Alan Smith?!?!He is up there. Bebe, Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Taibi, and Alan Smith were pretty bad
I think you are confusing the ex-Leeds player that we put in midfield (clogger) with the former Arsenal player-turned-co-commentatorAlan Smith was a decent signing until he broke his leg!
Alan Smith was a shocking midfielder. Lots of huff and puff and zero guile. One to rank alongside Sneiderlin.Taibi barely played, but more importantly.... Alan Smith?!?!
Perfectly put!He literally is working for the other team. All the while he prances about, tapping the ball with the outside of boot, stuttering forward, scanning the pitch, unable to see a pass, some more tapping, arms out wide, then deciding he should hand passing responsibility to a keeper he knows cannot pass.
I pointed out in the matchday thread, that when we won the EL with Jose it was Romero in goal not DDG. When he is in goal we go out.
Bollocks.Alan Smith was a shocking player. One to rank alongside Sneiderlin.
Seen the Maguire mistake. But also a lot of people blaming DDG. This video contrast Martinez receiving the same pass from DDG.
The two goals we conceded in the first leg came as a result of coasting for 60min with the players acting as if they had won it.Goals conceded in the 1st leg was bad luck as both was off target efforts from Sevilla. Their 2nd goal came off the shoulder and could have went anywhere. The first and 3rd goals conceded tonight was not about luck just woeful play by Maguire,DeGea to gift goals.
True but Martinez is much better in a tight spot than Maguire and probably would have dealt with it better. It's not the same pass, Martinez has a full second before an opponent is close. This second matters a lot.
Exactly - as if Martinez unique on the ball ability is the standard ffs! It's a cut and dry hospital pass that you never play. He did the same against Brentford to Eriksen and it cost us. He's a liability. That was by virtue of Martinez's skill. De Gea should not make either pass, that's the end of it.
He wasn't great but streets ahead of Bebe, Obertan, Weghorst etc. Definitely doesn't belong in that category or anywhere close really.Alan Smith was a shocking midfielder. Lots of huff and puff and zero guile. One to rank alongside Sneiderlin.
My fear is that the Glazers won't leave. And they won't do anything with the windows. That was shit. On more levels than I can count. If there is any glimmer of hope, it’s that the owners sell and the new owners let ETH clean house.
Obviously, but Martinez is a rarity. The vast majority of centre backs would struggle in that situation. De Gea should know better.True but Martinez is much better in a tight spot than Maguire and probably would have dealt with it better.
Edit: for £250k pwPerfectly put!
The GK should be able to make the right pass 10 times out of 10, it's a position you can afford the LEAST risk, therefore if it looks a suspect pass just HOOF the cnutExactly - as if Martinez unique on the ball ability is the standard ffs! No they wouldn't, quick scan over your shoulder and you pass back to Dave for him to lump.Obviously, but Martinez is a rarity. The vast majority of centre backs would struggle in that situation. De Gea should know better.
The funny thing is, he often hoofs it out when a much simpler pass is on. His decision making is diabolical. His only asset is when he's making reactionary save which don't require any thought - outside of that, he's hopeless. The GK should be able to make the right pass 10 times out of 10, it's a position you can afford the LEAST risk, therefore if it looks a suspect pass just HOOF the cnut
The first goal we conceded at home last week was the result of Malacia letting a nothing ball run across him to Navas who whipped in a dangerous cross, leading to an own goal.Goals conceded in the 1st leg was bad luck as both was off target efforts from Sevilla. Their 2nd goal came off the shoulder and could have went anywhere. The first and 3rd goals conceded tonight was not about luck just woeful play by Maguire,DeGea to gift goals.
Don't see the point in persisting with him. He's on huge wages, we need the money and have several talented young players on the wings.
Smith? Not a chance. He was decent but unfortunately suffered an horrific injury. He is up there. Bebe, Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Taibi, and Alan Smith were pretty bad
I love De Gea, he has saved us time and time again over the years with some incredible unbelievable saves but the future is now and he is not capable of playing the way ETH wants without being a major risk it's clear to see.The funny thing is, he often hoofs it out when a much simpler pass is on. 1st leg goals weren't going into the net without the deflections which could have went anywhere. While the DeGea was poor on his positioning for the second goal tonight it came off the shoulder of the Sevilla lad and again could have went anywhere. The two goals we conceded in the first leg came as a result of coasting for 60min with the players acting as if they had won it.
De Gea's positioning for the second goal tonight was appalling and while he is to blame for all three goals tonight, the team was shocking as a collective. Absolutely embarassing.
Ten Hag also has to take the criticism tonight - can he not motivate these players to turn up in one of the biggest and eminently winnable games of the season?
There was a man in between Maguire and De Gea. And if that was the right play, why didn't De Gea just lump it straight away? He can see what is happening in front of him. Maguire had 3 literally 3 players with a yard or two of him on the edge of the box ffs. You play that pass in 5 aside as a keeper and you get pelters, let alone in a European quarters. It's embarrassing, brain dead stuff which we've seen him do before in this very season. No they wouldn't, quick scan over your shoulder and you pass back to Dave for him to lump.

I'd rather have Bebe than Sancho on current form - at least Bebe attacked his player as well as threatening from behind with pace ( no matter how shonky the delivery on average) in his 12 games or so. A few belted crosses as lucky punts might still work out more productive than Sancho's usual feints and mincing with no end-ball.He wasn't great but streets ahead of Bebe, Obertan, Weghorst etc. Definitely doesn't belong in that category or anywhere close really.
