PL W FA Premier League

Sheffield United 2:3 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

What the heck was Donny doing when he came on?! Absolutely atrocious.
He was pretty poor.

The changes we made seemed to cause us a lot of problems but, I suppose, we were trying to give Bruno and Mason a rest. Probably James for Mason and then Mata for Bruno would have been better in this game. And McT for Matic after 75mins. All with hindsight.

Donny is better at 8 / understudy for Pogba. Just now he seems to be out of form and not the calm tidy player we’ve seen previously.

Fred got a total rest and surely starts next match.

Ragged at the end but three points and things looking up.

I seriously think it was the keeper today. De Gea plays we win 3-0.

Most teams in the league now are technical enough to put any team under pressure, we would have held out but for Henderson.

Should have been a comfortable 2nd half and we found a way to let them back in.

Lindelof is a decent defender but he is so weak in the air, since we're not going to replace Maguire anytime soon we need another CB.
He's just so weak everywhere. Not just in the air.

Classic United away performance under Ole. Some calamity moments at the back, big chances missed but some real quality goals.

Happy with the win but need to be more ruthless in that second half and kill off the game completely. Conceded two very sloppy goals tonight and need to be better defensively against Leeds on Sunday.

Big big 3 points with good football for most of the game, along with a bit of entertainment at the end with Ole and his aul' lad goin at it on the line.

When records are at stake, it's never easy...

- Sheff Utd have now made the worst start in the English top flight since the league was formed back in the 1800's

- Man Utd are now the first English team to go behind in 6 consecutive away league games and still win them all (according to Ally McCoist)

It's a double whammy on the first one. We were the previous holders of the worst start - in the 30s apparently.

Thanks Sheffield

Aye, we’ve been so prolific at OT this season.
Unfortunately for them, Leeds’ defence doesn’t magically become watertight just because United have been unperformed at Old Trafford so far.

A win hides a lot of cracks in the team again. Lot of places to improve.

Good game for Rashford, Bruno and Pogba. Martial could have had a hat trick with the chances he had.
Better to hide the cracks by winning then expose them by losing mate.
We are officially the form team in the league. 5 wins and a draw in 6 games, long may it continue.
We are resilient in the league this season I think. We had an horrible start but bounced back without looking back since. It is very important that we have not dropped our heads. Mentality is right, we are though pas even if we conced shoking goals more often then not.

Great build up play forcour goals but a quality keepet saves both of those rashford strikes. Either it was the worst team in the league.

Jeez man. Decent win but we do like to make it harder than it should be.
If things go right an we carry on we could/should be top of the pile soon.

He was going to bring on James then realised it was a bottom of the table side so changed his mind
Should have done it before mata or VDB, can’t have 2 slow players on at once.

Had full controll for 90% of the game and scored some wonderful goals, could have been more even.

The fact that SHU score two though is a bit concerning. We should have seen that one out comfortably, not hanging on for dear life at the end

We have some brilliant players, but collectively we are still very poor imo.
Sums it up for me. Nearly always an early defensive calamity. Woeful finishing that would have killed the game. Never in control of midfield.

Have to say Rashford was stella tonight.

Great from minute 10 to 70, poor the other side, 3pts, job done.

Also felt like we couldn’t win an aerial duel to save our lives today.

Pogba had a decent game but a couple of times he lost the ball holding onto it too long or trying his pirouette turn. Oe chance in their half if he had played it immediately to Martial/Greenwood cant remember which one we were probably in again. Shows once Bruno goes we drop to pieces though.

Henderson needs to do lot more to convince me. Seems like lot of young english goalkeepers. Thinking he is to good. Need to learn from DeGea 1-2 years.

VanderBeek need to do more. I know it is hard to play well when you have pressure on you to deliver but he is few steps behind in starting position. People should stop blaming Solskjaer for his lack of time.

Maguire needs to show he is captain.

Greenwood must stop with his shooting in bad positions. If he passes and moves he will get better chances.
I think Ole did not do a favour to Henderson by playing him in this game.
I know, there is a trend to play former players against there old clubs but not in goals really. Henderson was really nervous. He had nothing to gain and everything to lose in this one.
He is still number 2 for me. De Gea is not perfect but still better then him.

Happy with the win but need to be more ruthless in that second half and kill off the game completely. Conceded two very sloppy goals tonight and need to be better defensively against Leeds on Sunday.

this is it. we are way too casual. I don’t see the hunger in this team to really kick on and I don’t really get it. The league is wide open and you’re the highest paid team. Go and be ruthless and aggressive

3 points, Rashford and Martial both scoring so hopefully come into a scoring pitch, minutes for Matic, Greenwood and Henderson, job done.

Need to start the game much sharper from the off vs Leeds as they'll be relentless.

We need to get that defence sorted. Concede so many goals from either our own doing or on set-pieces.

The record will show another away win and three points. At times, we were on the back foot but we ground out a result. That’s what matters.
Yes, we could have made it easier for ourselves (but where would be the fun in that?) but we held on.
Rashford and Martial will go home happier tonight. Pogba should feel more engaged and positive. Telles had a better game. Really, it’s only Greenwood who needs a boost.
Leeds will be buzzing for the weekend but we are heading up the table and that’s got to make the team more confident.

I hope our game in hand is away ;)

Great 3 points especially considering our competitors recent results. This is what taking advantage looks like.
If we kept the killer instinct and a little more quality we could do well this year, in PL anyway.

PE teacher maybe, but if he had been your PE teacher I doubt you'd be on here whinging, you'd maybe be earning decent money as a semi-pro.

Good result. Nervy at the end, but Fred got a rest and he'll be key against Leeds. Win that and we're sitting pretty really, despite a large amount of people on here thinking we're utter tonk. We might not be the finished article, might not even be close, but we're definitely going in the right direction.

Pogba had a decent game but a couple of times he lost the ball holding onto it too long or trying his pirouette turn. Oe chance in their half if he had played it immediately to Martial/Greenwood cant remember which one we were probably in again. Shows once Bruno goes we drop to pieces though.
Spot on. He was very good today but still has a tendency to hang on the ball too much in the middle. Every loss because of it and we are horribly exposed.
The best middfielders know when to play simple passing to keep possession and the ball moving and when to spread killer passes or run through the middle. In that aspect Pogba is still a child and will never learn. I miss so much the ginger prince !

Ole's roller coaster ride is doing my health in. Never a dull moment. We won and I am very happy. Bring on Leeds and let's smash them.

Its weird how we are seen by rival fans. Here we are, touching 2nd and i heard those on Talksport saying a lot of people they know fancy Sheff Utd tonight.
Its as if we are meant to be shit but the league just isnt showing it
