Wonder what the game could've been if Soton got their first goal

What I'd give for a time machine to make Carrick and Zlatan younger.

Poor game from us but we have Zlatan. Rojo, Mata, Bailly and Smalling where all very poor today and should thank Zlatan that they didn't cost us.

Rojo was abysmal today. Also thought Bailly was almost as poor - Pogba had a shit day - A lot of mediocrity from the rest ---------------------------------Zlatan

Mourinho looks pissed. I'm interest to hear what he says in his interview

Commented on the obvious before the game... Lingard doesn't offer enough (did score, and a good finish, but it was due to dogshit defending), and Rojo is a decent CB, but at LB he is horrible.

Good, but a bit slow change(s) by Mourinho. Our defense should have been addressed, but the rest was spot on in terms of changes.

We were lucky, some of our players, namely Rojo, Smalling, Bailly and Lingard being poor today, and Pogba/Martial being on and off throughout the game.
That said, Valencia, Zlatan and Herrera (apart from defensive blip on their first goal) were rock solid.

Great to win another title!
Super happy for the team, and hope it gives them the taste of more and gives us an extra wind trying to get that top 4 and Europa League win. :)
Not sure how you can say Herrera was rock solid, he was awful and lucky to stay on the field. Southampton totally bossed our midfield until carrick came on, lingard wasn't poor he did alright and scored hopefully mhiki returns soon and lingard can go back to the bench

Why is Mourinho so miserable?

I think he hated the play. United was hardly ever in control of that game. Nothing freaks Jose more than losing control. He's probably still trying to recover.

Huge credit to Southampton, they were the better team - Gabbiadini is a top finisher on the evidence of today and the games he has played for Southampton so far. United had to dig deep, but Ibrahimovic proved his worth again. Nice comment from Phil Neville - "Pogba talks the talk, but Ibrahimovic walks the walk". In the end, a cup final is all about the result over the performance and United did it today without being at their best. Hopefully another trophy or two will follow before the end of the season with more to follow next year as Mourinho restores United to the top again. Had it gone to extra time, who knows, with United's tough recent schedule.

Mourinho needs a nap.

I appreciate his attitude. Guy's a winner. Knows we lucked it. Don't expect him to go full blast the team on the pitch, like Fergie at Aberdeen, but he'll drive the team to do more.

I'm relieved. We came so close to f'n that up.

Wooo!! Massive win. Should give us the confidence we needed, a loss would've hurt us a lot imo. Poor performance but fantastic result.

feck Tyler & Le Tiss too

Matt needs to shut the eff up. That said, they played very well but we just have the big difference maker - Ibra.

Tale of two teams.....ones who's knackered after playing 4 games and the other who was in the sun during that time....

Yeah, no shit. He sees it as a small trophy in the grand scheme of things and doesn't want to spunk his load celebrating a League Cup win. Besides, he typically doesn't overdo it when he wins the bigger trophies.

Agree but let's give SOTON a lot of credit. They were pretty awesome and played over their heads. I mean come on, Redmon and Ward-P were killing us on the wings.

Jose looks so pissed. I'm not sure who he is more pissed with, himself or some of the players. I have a feeling its with himself. Think he knows he set the team up wrong and it took the Zlatan show to save his butt.

Around the 65th minute things really changed and I started to think we had a real chance at getting the lead back. Pogba stepped it up and became disruptive. Southampton got sloppy, almost tired looking or cracking under the pressure of a cup final. They still had the chances but from that point on we seemed more likely to win.

Awful performance and feel sorry for Saints but Zlatan!!:drool:

I didn't really enjoy that final as much as I should've. Messing up a 2 goal lead and the game being so nervy made it hard to watch for me. That said I'm delighted with the win and I'm sure I'll be able to enjoy seeing it again afterwards. It's so much easier when you know the outcome. Southampton deserved better, they were very good. Must be heartbreaking for them but they can walk away with their heads held high and look back on that performance with a lot of pride. Doesn't buy them anything of course and it must be frustrating, but that's football.

Brilliant win. Typical Manchester United cup final. Never a dull moment.

Jose got us in a good position to finish the season strong.

Probably because we got battered for majority of the game and looking forward he can see we still have some very average players.

He was probably crapping his pants thinking how to replace Ibra.

Yes, rather this than a manager who treated winning the Community Shield like the highpoint of his career.

Lingard looks like he's on the receiving end of an unwanted golden shower.
