Post-match discussion

Yes, I do refute that idea. In any case, Mason had what was perhaps the best chance of all to score when Kane played him in but he skyed it over the bar.
 no he didn't, Falcao's and Mata's were the best chances.

Take a look at United's bench with two of them coming off injuries. I thought they did really well in the last two matches considering there really wasn't more than one option to change in the starting XI from the boxing day match and that would have been Smalling.

 no he didn't, Falcao's and Mata's were the best chances.

No they weren't. Falcao never had the ball properly under control and neither did Mata. Mason was clear through on goal, with time and space ... had he shot it low and hard to his left it would likely have gone in, but he lacked composure and blazed it over the bar.

Feck sake, I said this before: Spurs are the absolute luckiest team in the Premier league. How many points have they won this season with plain luck?

Btw, this is like Football Manager when you have 10-0 CCC's with 14-1 shots on target and the result finishes at 0-0. Annoying.

Wouldn't put today down to luck, just a very good keeper performance in Lloris and horrible finishing from United. Really shot ourselves in the foot today.

Yes they were. Mata had more time than Mason did, actually. And Falcao's was at a better angle, too.

This match was not nearly as bad as Leicester. Leicester was the worst performance I have seen from United for more than 5 years. Absolute shambolic defending with a red and pens against United. Only the 4-4 against Everton rivals it. Today's match occurs a few times to every team throughout a season hence why teams don't accumulate more than 100 points in this league.
Nah, not in my opinion. Of course, we still got a point from this match, but we still dropped two points. Both should have been won easily in the first half but weren't done so. We should/could have been 4-5 up at half time, similar to today. Both games shouldn't have been dropped points. Disgusting second half performances, both of them.

Surely RVP's chance was the best? The commentator even said he'd be 15/1 on to score it.

Game of two halves. Great in the first half, playing some good stuff and creating some very good chances. In the second, you could tell our players were a bit fatigued, as we were pretty sloppy.

Think with the amount of injuries we've got, and the fact we played with the same team for most of the game against a Spurs side that have been pretty good of late, a point isn't too bad.

This match could have been a thriller had half of the chances both teams had been put away. Could have been a high scoring game... Makes me even sadder really.

Spurs did feck all in the second half for all their possession and domination against a team of tired players.

Spurs could have won, should have won it in the 2nd half but certainly didn't deserve to win.

You are so biased towards spurs it almost seems as if you're trying to wind people up.

Rubbish and negligent finishing. Did not deserve any more than we got.

No excuses either.

A point was a good result considering the likes of RVP and Carrick were absolutely knackered from the word go. We didn't take our chances but the likes of liverpool and arsenal will struggle to get points at spurs

It's hard to read that and not think, what a crock of shite. Our attack that has finished chances at an excellent rate all season is not world class because of one game. Wise up. I'm not even going to acknowledge anymore than that.

If you think we have world class centre forwards (who have actually played like World Class centre forwards) this season then you are either a troll , an optimist or delusional , or better yet all three. Without Wayne Rooney's goals we wouldn't be 3rd and Rooney isn't playing centre forward this season, which says a lot when we have the likes of Falcao and RVP, our striking concerns aren't the only things i talked about in that post, but i guess a closed minded individual like you who thinks every other person's view is a "crock of shite" wouldn't have the patience to read the whole thing before commenting.

Love how he says "ofcourse, you too saw the match" when asked if it should have been 3 points. And then when the interviewer went all happy new year merry christmas bullshit before asking him about transfer targets and he just says "No, I discuss that with the CEO, not you"

"OK, enjoy your celebrations".

What does that mean? Did the interviewer panic and just blurt out some random crap?

We are absolute gash away from home, that's why we won't catch Chelsea or City.

Also we need Scheinerlin or Strootman asap on the January the 1st, we always end up losing the midfield battle, always and it's unacceptable now.

2 points better of than last season after spending £150million

Forgetting about Van Persies chance? Or 2 chances? Mason's was a chance but not a great one really, especially with De Gea right there covering the near post, his only hope was to smash it over de Gea.

Weird post after dominating Spurs away from home for the most part, especially with the midfield, in a match where only Falcao started from the new players.

Take a point after the second half performance. I must say hard to say how effective we are until we have a relatively full squad. Still say, there are no CB's that I'd keep. Any time they are pressed, completely crap themselves and boot it forward....

Good first half from us, but woeful finish let us down.

Poor second half but Mata managed to miss a sitter and in the end we were a bit lucky not to concede a goal. Overall I think we created enough chances to win this game by at least two goals so it must rank as a bitter disappointment to only get one point.

We have no midfield, everyime there is a second ball we have no one to sweep it up and the opposition end up running through us. We really do need a matic type player because the space in their is too much,

We only dominated the first half btw, nowhere near good enough second half.

Second half was almost definitely because of fatigue. We looked dead on our feet. Not like they dominated us either, it just ended up being a stop start affair with constant hoofing forward from both sides.

I thought the game pretty much summed up where we are at the moment. Improving massively (probably our best away performance), dominant at times but vulnerable. We're bang on for 3rd but these are the games you have to win to get to the next level....the exciting thing is is we are improving and really aren't far off.

I'm not sure it's ideal to be changing so much of the squad but I tend to agree about the defence. Shaw looks like he could be a really terrific full back but the rest of the senior defenders (so ignoring McNair and Blackett) are all massive issues. They're all so injury prone and the reality is that none of them even if they do develop are likely to become exceptional. We're basically hoping Jones, Smalling and Rafael can get over their long-standing fitness problems to be good enough.

The players hardly did anything second half against Newcastle either, last 40 minutes was basically passing around our defenders, I see no reason why they should be fatigued, especially as you said only Falcao was a new signing, so the rest of them should be used to these close fixtures.

No way to hide it man, it was nowhere near good enough, if we are only going to dominated for 25-30 minutes every match in spells against Gash teams, then there is no point showing up. I think there is a mental issue here.

Even fit, I really question their technical ability. If we are building play from the back then naturally forwards are going to press you. None of the CB's are comfortable to handle this and panic.

They could have but most certainly shouldn't have. We had far more chances over the 90.

I'm not so sure now, having watched the replay a few times, that the offside call to nullify our goal was the right call.

Falcao was arguably not interfering with play and Jones was back in an onside position before he played the ball.

This.

Unless funds are unlimited, our transfer focus for now has to be on a strong box to box midfielder, not a defender. Fellaini just isn't the man to take us to next level, even if we all acknowledge he's done a decent job this season.

Shaw
Rojo
Di Maria
Herrera
Fellaini
Blind

That's £170m worth of players not available to start the game today for us. You ever think how City or Chelsea would cope with that amount of talent missing from their sides?
