That's £170m worth of players not available to start the game today for us. You ever think how City or Chelsea would cope with that amount of talent missing from their sides?
City have been coping very well without that amount of talent in their side, actually.

Well they're coming from a Championship winning squad compared to our 7th placed squad ;)

We are absolute gash away from home, that's why we won't catch Chelsea or City.

Also we need Scheinerlin or Strootman asap on the January the 1st, we always end up losing the midfield battle, always and it's unacceptable now.

2 points better of than last season after spending £150million

We dont need to catch City and Chelsea, we need a CL spot.

Dont know what 150 million has to do with it though, all of our new players besides Falcao are out.

Out of all new players only Falcao starts today and people again mention150 million.

to be fair, if we can't get people fit then we are either training wrong or bought guys who are injury prone. This season is speeding along and still every week we cry about injuries.

You think the first eleven we had out today and boxing day was any weaker than the ones City fielded in their equivalent fixtures? I don't.

A free kick that hits the post. A sitter that skies over the bar.

Just one of those days...

Whose missing for City?

Kompany and Aguero are the only ones I can think of....I know their striking options are limited at the moment
Aguero, Kompany, Jovetic, Dzeko. Silva was out for ages too. Not much difference really.

How dare you! For the money they get United players should perform as automatons that never make mistakes or get fatigued. Don't you get it: an away draw less than two days after a game is a complete disaster-we need a whole new team.

Spurs had even less recovery period than United, and have played many more games (today was game number 30 for us).
The amount of injuries we've had takes its toll, meaning we couldn't rotate at all these last 2 games.

Dont know whats the problem, training regime, past injuries of some players or sthing else, but we have too many injuries..

Jovetic has been back for a week or so now.

I remember they did struggle a bit at times without Silva though.
Shaw is back too.

But yeah, they've coped very well without the equivalent talent, which I believe was your 'question'.

To be fair, our form is basically on par with City's over the past 9 games.
Sure, not saying otherwise, merely the idea that we are somehow the only side out there having to deal with missing our best players and still performing, it's just not true.

It was. Would should have buried them before half-time but for the profligacy of Van Persie and Falcao. Rooney might have been a bigger presence in front of goal too. Didn't need to play so deep with both Mata and Carrick supplying the ammo. The defence held up well for the most part but I hope Van Gaal manages to bring in a new centre half soon. McNair shows great promise and has been a good stop-gap but he's not yet at the required level. Jones still has an awkward, reckless aspect to his game and Evans is a bit hit-and-miss these days.

Anyone know when Rojo, Herrera, and Fellaini and due back?

Indeed. In isolation that's just what it is. Both this and the result (draw away at Spurs) are par-ish for the course. People are bound to read too much into everything this season - naturally so, I s'pose.

Someone said LvG says Herrera will be available this week.

Well ok, our players have had a season of injuring themselves, rehab time, getting their fitness back, getting back to league cycle....its bit different to playing Sunday -Thursday for 3 months.

You were bit better in the second half when our players wore off( is that a.corect.sentence btw)

Unfortunately we did not have much of a midfield today. No proper transition from defense to attack, especially in the second half. I expect to see much better team when Herrera, Blind and Di Maria are back.

I have to disagree somewhat.

http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php

United currently have 8 vs 5 injured from City.

United have been averaging 7 - 9 players injured every game. City around 3 - 4 players.

http://injuryleague.com/injury-league/

City and Chelsea both have superb injury records as opposed to United and it shows. It also helps that both those teams are very mature as compared to the work in progress of United.

Sure, City and Chelsea have done well, but I just wanted clarify the situation a bit.

Chelsea I never argued with at all, City are the ones I mentioned, and they've definitely missed their "best talent" as badly as we have in the current run of form (last 9 games), which was the discussion here. Obviously overall this season if you take our defensive injuries and such into account too, we've definitely been the worst off.

Meh, considering how we got away with it against Southampton, the world balanced itself out today.

It's frustrating, but a point's not too bad at the end of the day... especially considering the opponents run of form, and the fact that it's the second game in less than 48 hours.

Depressing result. Should have taken 3 from this game with the amount of chances we had. Bad to think we could be 4 points better off had we finished off Villa and Tottenham.

We should have closed the game in the first half. Too many missed chances and we tired a lot in the last 30 minutes which is understandable.

Seriously what are we doing in training? Not only do we keep picking up injuries but the work being done is not even making us fit, we kept dropping off in the 2nd half early in the season and Spurs looked much fitter than us as the game went on today.

If you think we have world class centre forwards (who have actually played like World Class centre forwards) this season then you are either a troll , an optimist or delusional , or better yet all three. Without Wayne Rooney's goals we wouldn't be 3rd and Rooney isn't playing centre forward this season, which says a lot when we have the likes of Falcao and RVP, our striking concerns aren't the only things i talked about in that post, but i guess a closed minded individual like you who thinks every other person's view is a "crock of shite" wouldn't have the patience to read the whole thing before commenting.
I don't think every differing opinion is a crock of shite. Just what you wrote.

How? Did you have extra injury time on Friday or something?

Our boxing day match kicked off later than yours ... and even a few hours can make a difference when the next game is less than 48 hours later. But the larger point is that we've played 30 games so far, compared to what - 20 ? - for United.

So for United fans to use "tiredness" as an excuse is as lame as blaming the ref.

Both were 3 o'clock kick offs. You make a fair point about the number of games you've played, it's worrying that despite having fewer games we're picking up so many injuries and looked really leggy in the second half (not for the first time). We should have had at least some lead at half time to protect though.

You're right about the KO times - my mistake.

Tiredness is the reason the second half went the way it did. Wasn't great from either, just ended up being hoofing it forward and Fazio was dominating in the air, it's not an excuse for why we didn't win the game though, that's just down to bad finishing in the first half from us. You are right that Spurs have played more games so tiredness isn't much of an excuse for us, but we have also had more injuries then anyone which also takes its toll.

Definitely 2 points dropped. Thankfully the other 2 also drew today also everything remains the same but if we could have just converted one of those chances we'd have all had a bit of believe going into the new year.
