Post-match discussion

If I was Woody, I would sack him tonight and put Giggs in charge until the end of the season. I know Gigg isn't that popular at the moment and actually, he might even say no...but at least we don't have to suffer that melted peanut face anymore.

Ever the optimist

Oh I'm optimistic we can change it. A managerial change, a bit of clear out and a few key signings would do the trick. I'd be optimistic we could challenge for the league next year if we got Mourinho or another top manger in.

But at the moment, I think comparing us to a big bowl of shite is fairly spot on.

Feltnwe were good in the first half - although De Gea and TFM kept us in it.

We're shocking attacking wise - of the two most creative midfielders, one is on the bench and the other is playing right wing back.

It's time to drop Lingard and give Januazaj and Perreira a shot - I really don't think you can do much worse.

Rashford didn't have the best game - but to replace him wrh Young? (I had originally thought Young was brought on to help with the right hand side, putting mata back in the middle, Lingard on the left and Martial up front - what would I know about tactics.)

I like that someone voted for Memphis as motm.
Atleast one player that showed passion :p

Spurs weren't even that good today until the last 20 minutes. They looked like a side feeling the pressure of playing for a first title for 50+ years. But when your opponents (routinely) manage one chance in 90 minutes, it makes it a lot easier knowing you are virtually guaranteed a point even if your forwards misfire.

We were in the champions league this season... I don't understand this fascination with the 4th place trophy. If were no where near good enough to get out of the group stages I'd rather we just finish in the top 10...the europa league just fecks up your season even more.

It's more to do with attracting the top quality players, to be honest.

That and trying to improve the team by mixing with the European elite (which we once used to be :().

Sneiderlin backing out of challenges all over the field. Needs to go first closely followed by LVG

Regardless of the result, I just have to question the tactical decisions.

Mata tracking back for over 2/3 of the game?
Lingard constantly used behind the striker?
Martial left out wide until the game was over?
Young as a striker?!
Darmian on over Valencia?

I'm just still so surprised at these things not being changed / happening at all. Lingard should have been moved out right before even half time. Mata through the middle (and probably replaced by Herrera in the last half hour or so). Young should have gone on the left with Martial up top.

Darmian just had a mare and didn't seem ready, but when we are at 0-0 and need to score I'd have been putting Valencia on every single time.

I just fail to see the logic, but maybe it's just me?

This manager just strangles any creativety out of our attacking players. There's just nothing to us going forward. Its sad to watch.

Leicester are the clear favourites for the title, but this result pretty much guarantees a top 4 finish for Spurs. Even if you win your game in hand, that will still leave you effectively (given GD) 10 points behind Spurs ... with 6 games to go your not catching us now.

The first half was tightly contested, but when we turned up the heat 2nd half United melted like a snowflake in August ... you were blown away in the space of 5 minutes.

You can duke it out with City and Arsenal for top 4, but I don't fancy your chances.

Steve should come out with made up LvG post match interview and send those on edge into berserk enrage mode.

Thanks, Smuglord.

Terrible result. Spurs are a better side than us but we defended well for the most part and had a couple of chances to go ahead in the second half, however once they scored, we just capitulated. Timothy Fosu Mensah was great but the other young players couldn't live up to their past displays, and this happens a lot so maybe its not a big surprise. however, some of the more experienced players like Schneiderlin and Rojo didn't cover themselves in glory either.

I'm guessing LVG staying is dependant on him finishing in the top 4 which is probably over now as I think City will pull away now.

Go out of the FA cup on Wednesday and our season is dead.

What a bizarre post, nobody on here is claiming we had any hope of catching Spurs for top four. Seems you're just looking for an argument.

Very close game, up until they scored. We started off really well. Pressed really well and forced Spurs long. However, Spurs started to get into it, which was to be expected.

Difference was the full backs, in my opinion. Ours were defensive (2 centre backs playing at full back) and Spurs were attack minded.

If you look at Walker and Rose, they got forward at any opportunity, which forced our wingers (Mata and Martial) back. Mata was knackered in the first half, because he was more or less playing as a right back, meaning when we attacked Spurs, we had nothing down the right.

Hahahahahahahahahaha - Young as striker, Mata as wide player ..... Hahahahahahahaha.

Could someone post what that shower of shite will say in his post match comments?

- Did not see result coming at HT
- Before they scored we had the biggest chance with Martial
- 'Gave the goal away' due to miscommunication
- Re: Ashley Young: He wanted more 'running in behind', hence he was played up front
- Every team can lose, we are still in the race for fourth
- Tottenham are a great team, but until the first goal we were playing well and missed a chance for our goal

Yet again with the 1 chance = 1 goal bullshit.

Woody, he is more inept than LVG. As long as he is in charge we are going nowhere

Once against his negative mindset to games is exposed. We didn't do enough to hurt them, silence the crowd and get out of there with the win. He's saying Martial had a great chance and he should have done better but it was one he manufactured by himself.

How ironic that the one solitary season every one of the "top 4" gifts you a chance to walk the league … fecking Leicester win it!:lol::lol:

IF you don't sell (and there will be tasty offers) you'll both have one year of CL football, fail miserably, and then reset … back to normal!

Back to Moyes indifference.

This is year two of the three year masterplan which culminates in the Giggs succession. Hope it's worth losing all that Champions League money for...

Dont worrt, well meet you guys in Europa League by February.

I'm sorry but nothing will top Van Gaal dragging Nick Powell out of relative obscurity to rally our attack in the latter stages of a crucial European away tie.

That was desperation, today was far worse, no their manager in the league would have done as bad a job as LVG did today.

Carra really laying into LVG in the studio for being happy to give Spurs 'a game'. Sad times when he's sticking up for the club and the fans.

That's not what some were claiming before the match.

Have to agree with Carragher here. LVG speaking of Spurs and being pleased with how we did as if they're Real fecking Madrid.

How can he be pleased with one shot on goal over the 90 mins?!

Post-match interview pretty much saying Spurs are a good team and we did well apart from a 5 minute period. Excellent.

This is Spurs FFS.

I don't think for one moment any of us think we will catch you. But also, in the same vain, I believe you won't catch Leicester. I reckon this was your best chance of winning the title, and with the money coming in next season, it's going to be some time before it comes round again. Also I think you will lose your manager sooner rather than later to some huge club.

Thanks for that. Why aren't people asking him more serious questions as to why Mata was persisted on the right and Rojo made it through the 90?
