That's us scored the opening goal in every game under Ole. We had managed it only 3 times out of the 17 games before that.

We put in a very respectable effort in the first half and looked genuinely threatening on the break when we recovered the ball. I wasn't enamoured with the way we played in the second half but I suppose it requires a certain degree of grittiness and/or fortune to win away against a top 6 rival.
Very impressive that we've already managed to close the 8 point gap on Arsenal though, the sort of thing which never would've happened with the other guy in charge.

What amazed me is Tottenham were knackered after the Chelsea game and ran like demons in the second half. What do they give their players at half-time?! There's being a little fitter than the next team but we had the week off. I can't believe we have a group of humans that are naturally unfit whereas other teams happened to chance upon super fit ones. Nor do I believe our fitness regimes are that much worse. It confuses me a lot.

What I said has nothing to do with Moyes, he was a mistake from the very beginning. It’s not really the Ipad itself, but the people using it and the information that is in the tablet. If you have a recording of the game, watch how they handle it, you will be able to see that is how they analyze the game through the computer early in the first half. I thought they did make some good adjustments for the second half, but we got DDG and some luck on our side. My point is that I wouldn’t mind having Poch’s assistant helping out Ole.

I don't know if its been mentioned. But Ander was to me very impressive last night. I think if it wasn't for DDG having a worldy last night, I would have Ander as my MOTM.
One thing that frustrated me last night. We had plenty of chances in that second half to slow it down a little and kill spurs momentum and just keep control (we did it in the 93rd minute finally). Just shows a little lack of experience in this team about game management. I hope the coaches (Especially Carrick) can drill that point home. Yes there were times when the ball needed to be cleared. But I remember there being at least 3-4 times when one of our players could have just slowed it down for a bit and passed it back to a player who was totally free and kept easy possession. Spurs can't score if they don't have the ball.

Shaw - Didn't seem to understand the game plan very well. Spent most of the game getting shouted at by team mates and Spurs kept getting in down his side
Jones - I thought he'd actually gone a game without injuring himself or anyone else, but instead he somehow managed to injure Kane after the game had finished
Lindelof - Great at reading the game, almost Rio-esque even, good on the ball. Unfortunately absolutely useless at defending crosses (along with a few others such as the entire rest of the squad, to be fair). Why did he celebrate like a weirdo just because Eriksen missed a freekick with half hour to go?
Young - His dream come true...a game where aimlessly lumping the ball into the channels is actually part of our tactics.
Matic - Decent until the last 25 minutes when he decided to play at centreback, then proceeded to do no actual defending whatsoever

Pogba - Wasn't sure what to make of him today. Sluggish on the ball and just jogged around off it...on the other hand created basically all of our chances.
Lingard - An expert display in the art of running into the way of things.
Martial - Good until we stopped getting the ball to him
Rashford - Has reclaimed his rightful place of being better than Mbappe
Lukaku - came on, looked ok-ish. Good at sprinting after things except for the first couple of times when he didn't bother.
Dalot - You know you need midfielders when your midfield literally disappears and this is the best solution you have

Ole - Showed he has some tactical knowledge to go with the ability to not say really stupid things to the media. Good signs
Pochettino - For someone who's apparently the best on offer he has some rather large flaws...like costing Spurs a game for the umpteinth time because he refuses to change how they set up or play against good opposition, even when it's obvious it's hurting them. I like him but this is bordering on arrogance now. Fourth time this season alone I've watched them and they've just carried on going at it with their super attacking fullbacks while the other team casually pick them off.
Souness - Victory turned all the sweeter by his maniacle post match behaviour. Sounded like a drunk in a pub who's just said something that means they've lost the argument but then isn't taking it very well.

Solskjaer show some knowledge by bringing Lingard in the middle as false 9 and left Rash and Martial to atack from wings. We were very dangerous in the first half and first 15 minutes in the second.
Now imagine if we have Dybala to the place of Lingard. I realy hope we will buy him next summer.
De Gea is monster, but our defence show once again that we need to buy there. Spurs made over 10 chances and they dont score only because of David.

Thats why I only mentioned the second half as the first half was a perfect Man Utd performance in a big away game. In the second half though, we rarely ventured forward after 60 minutes and were camped in our own box. There were waves after waves of Spurs attack and but for De Gea and poor finishing, the mood wouldn’t be so upbeat here. Neither our players nor the coaching staff were able to arrest the momentum and in the end, we can count ourselves fortunate to come away with three points. In isolation, I am delighted with the victory and the effort showed by the team. But it also highlighted some our weaknesses and we need to come up with some answers against Liverpool, PSG, and City games.
Kind of feel sorry for Lloris. He played great today only to be outshone by the best keeper in the world
He did make some good saves that you expect a good goalkeeper to make. But as good as Rashford's shot was, he should have saved that one too. If I remember correctly, Arsenal's fourth goal by Torreira in the NL derby was quite similar to today's where Lloris stands too close to his near post and shows too much of the other side to the striker.
De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world, but Lloris is in a tier below keepers like even Alisson or Courtois.

Not sure if it's been answered already, but when was the last time we won six games on the bounce in all competitions? If we get past Arsenal in the cup I wouldn't put it past us winning our next five either.

Aren't defenders supposed to stop the opposition from creating chances? Spurs created 7-8 clear cut chances in that 2nd half, the only good defensive performance were De Gea, you gotta say the defence had a shitty game.

Facing waves of attack from Spurs in the second half, I did see my team’s improvements in defence.
Yes, De Gea did a lots of saves, but I also saw our players like Lindelof and Herrera stopped number of shots from inside and outside the box. Our players were fantastic last night.

Ander Herrera was incredible. It's a shame it wasn't good enough for MotM because of De Gea. We have a genuinely great midfield as long as Herrera, Matic, and Pogba stay fit.
Best performance of the season IMO based on circumstances. Pogba has really hit his stride with Ole in charge. He is showing his talent. For me, the most exciting aspect has been Rashford. His runs behind and finishing have been class.
One thing that stuck out to me was Ole's plan to put Rashford on the wing to take advantage of Spurs pushing up. Tactically, we were sound. Our glaring hole remains our defense though.
Lastly, anyone a bit disappointed with Matic? He was decent, but so many overhit balls and nothing too impressive. Did a job but we can vastly improve there.

First time we have won away at spurs since March 2012...
Tbf our tactics last nite wasnt anything extraordinary. Infact that's what mourinho used to set up against the better team.
The difference is that our passing is better, movement and positioning improved, and players seems to find their mojo back. But tactics wise I've yet to see an ole masterclass apart from subtle approach and mentality changes.

We conceded NO goals against a team that can score for fun and have threats from everywhere. There are different ways to assess a defence. I've seen many great teams have to weather storms of attack. I once saw Newcastle batter us only for Schmeichel to save a 1 nil result that probably won us the title. And our defence that year had some players in it. Bottom line is the whole team got in where it hurts and when Spurs undoubtedly class players got their chances our goalkeeper did his job. Top class performance away from home and with a team we were being told only a few weeks ago were shit. The whole team deserves great credit for keeping them out. And no, defenders dont just prevent chances. They also get beaten sometimes by brilliant attacking players. Thats when the last ditch tackles and goalie comes in. Great performance in my book. And yeah unreal result. Its brilliant to finally see something so positive. Enjoy
Shaw had a game to forget. He gave his 110% but he lost his sense of position. He was letting his side exposed for far too too many times. At times rashford and martial were seeing covered for him as LB.

Thought you lot were excellent yesterday, especially first half, tactics were absolutely spot on even if they were copied from Liverpool's win over Spurs! Would like to know why people think you faded in the last half hour, was it fitness or concentration? but DDG had by far his best game of the season (if not his OT career) so all good.
The last 30 mins reminded me a lot of watching Jose's United, trying to soak up the pressure but in reality getting a bit overrun, but in the end it didn't matter as the original game plan was so good, so congrats to all. Who would have predicted such a change in just a month?

Why doesn't the FA Cup semifinal matter to anyone? I know it technically wasn't an away game, but it felt like one.
Lads, there is nothing wrong in Jose type performance to occasionally grind the result. Problem was to having that week in week out against all sort of teams.

We were excellent in the first half and Ole completely outfoxed Poch, but as the gaffer himself admitted we struggled to get to grips with their tactical adjustments in the second half.
I don't think we got tired, but rather we sloped back towards our own goal in response to Spurs pressure in the last half an hour. We are clearly still a work in progress and would have been better served managing the game a little better though possession. I don't think we have the back line to sit back and soak it up.
It's just a shame that Maureen killed our season from day one because there's no reason we couldn't be there or thereabouts this season had positivity been reigning. Let's just keep the momentum now - next four league games all look extremely winnable, Arsenal on the FA Cup look huge beatable while even PSG in the CL doesn't look as daunting suddenly.

Firstly its great to see utd winnings and playing attacking football and actually having a go at top side in the first half. The lineup itself gave the impression we are here to play, rather than sticking Mctominay or Fellani or playing five at the back ala Westham away.
Now on to the defending part where i felt we gave away far too many chances and this sort of defensive display is not sustainable in the long term. I felt not only we didn't react well to their change in formation, secondly it is becoming increasingly apparent that our defenders are just very average players (Young, Shaw, Jones and Lindelof).
All of them were vulnerable defensively, and by that i mean none of them dominated Spurs attacking players. Son had young on roast everytime and Herrara had to cover for him all game. Shaw allowed all the time in the world to Trippier to cross and put us under pressure and through which Kane and Alii had good heading chances.
Now coming to Jones and Lindelof, i felt individually there were poor Kane dominated Jones all game and he could not even mark him properly at every corner. Whereas lindelof also lost Alli when Eriksen played a beatiful ball, similarly lost Anderwerald on the corner and Kane also went passed him to have that shot fron left foot saved by DDG.

Every top team will be able to dominate us in the middle that way in terms of having the ball and forcing us to defend.
