Post-match discussion

When did you do that? The last 15 minutes were ok. Pity you missed them, I guess?

I skip matches all the time now but once I’ve started I can’t stop. That’ll change soon, no doubt.

I don't skip matches (yet), but tonight felt like I was watching more out of duty then any actual enjoyment.

These players want to look at themselves. Where is their pride??? Where is their respect for the club?? I am more pi55ed off than ever tonight....sick of these underperforming inconsistent overpaid overrated pre-madonnas. Some of them are useless...absolutely useless.

Pereira Jones Young and rashford tried...thats about it.

Watching mourinho smilibg and kissing their manager at the end showed.me all i need to know. His arrogant egotistic negative attitude is reflected in every team he puts out.He has to go.

Huge changes needed.
Agreed. The players gave about as much effort tonight as they did vs MLS teams in the summer tour. It was a disgraceful performance. I hate everything about this club right now besides just a few of our players.

Anyone remember a worse utd team than this getting into the last 16 in th CL?
How many here can remember a worse United team?

Even under Moyes, it's arguable we weren't this bad.

Ok, so it's not.

Has he told us how 3/4 of the Valencia team would get in ours yet?

We'll pay the price for an absolutely cowardly performance at home v Valencia and then somehow outdoing ourselves tonight.

I'm looking less and less forward to watching us these days. It's painful.

The way we so easily turn in awful performances, nothing performances against average opposition is so sickening.

Hopefully Matić and McTominay go off after this disgraceful first half.

Matić and McTominay shouldn't play for us again after today.

I've also heard that a joke gets funnier every time it's been told. Keep them coming :)

As for the game — horrible.

To watch a team of professional footballers look so collectively inept at figuring out a way of putting the ball into the opponents goal......It's almost something to be admired.

I'm not even joking. This doesn't just happen. Not unless you play 10 centre backs for a laugh. The overwhelming thought of these players is how not to concede a goal, right the way through the team. It must take a considerable amount of coaching to achieve that.

Watching these players go through the motions week after week is not a good use of anyone's time. If they aren't enjoying themselves why should we?

We are a shambles, and that's about it really. Lukaku has gone from Knee jerk shit to downright shit and the less we say about Jones the better. Our players do what they say on the tin. You know Lukaku is gonna have a horrible touch and kill our attacks and that is exactly what we see before our eyes game after game. Rojo is gonna be erratic and careless. Young is gonna do 1 good cross in 10, Valencia is gonna do 0 good crosses in 10. Lingard is gonna do nothing of any note, in a united shirt anyway.

I know I said the less we say about Jones the better but my god he is a total brain fart in football boots. How he has infiltrated the very top of football for club and country is beyond me, is his agent the bloody wishmaster.

I remember when we we good, I remember when I cared if we lost.

Can't bear to watch this garbage every game. The club needs a clearout top to bottom. Half of that team are not fit to wear the shirt but special mention must go to Lukaku who is a total waste of space. Pogba doesn't break sweat. The defence are a comedy show.

The dippers will be relishing the game on Sunday as we are a rudderless ship of fools.

Ok, so it's not.

I think we're officially in a worse position now than we ever were under Moyes. There's a tonne of deadwood to clear out, the wage bill is through the roof and we're even further behind our rivals than when Moyes was sacked. The situation is as desperate as it has ever been.

Jose has simply got to go before it gets any worse. No two ways about.

The difference in our manager Saturday where he was constantly on the players, to Today where it seemed like he sat the team up to fail, then sat back and watched it unfold.

To me this is his problem....he's petty and holds grudges and is obsessed with being proven right.

So Saturday he's motivated and Today his motivation is not for the benefit of the team.

Jose is a disgrace

Mayrinho out.

Genuinely think they were the worst tactics I've seen from us this season. Immobile full backs and wingers, what kind of thoughts were going through Mourinho's mind before the match? Rojo and Valencia in particular refused to venture forwards. Pereira and Mata constantly coming into the middle of the pitch allowed Valencia to be so compact defensively and hit us on the counter so easily by abusing the space on the flanks. Everything was sluggish and no one was moving.

Fred was well off the pace today, everything was going wrong for him. Fellaini in DM was about as effective as expected, he just lacks purpose when we stick him there. Lukaku wasn't getting much service but even when he did he miscontrolled it or lost it nearly every time. Rashford just about the only positive. There would've been no harm starting with more youngsters tonight, even with first up for grabs.

Jose's master plan. Now all seems doom and gloom, perfect for the underdog mentality at anfield.

Can someone explain why Mourinho picked a left side of Rojo, a centre back who he has publicly stated is 'bad' at left back and Pereira, a central midfielder who he has been trying to convert into a defensive midfielder?

I can understand his team selection he was trying to protect his preferred starting line up for Liverpool
This game looked like a dead rubber ( who would have had Juve getting beat by young boys )
Therefore Jose played his second string while giving Pogba , Perrira etc a chance to make a statement which the did they clearly stated we don’t give a toss about you this club or the fans we are bang average at best and a liability at worst.
Hopefully that is the final nail in Pogbas coffin I would drop him entirely from the squad for Sunday and we can once and for all realise that pereira is nothing but hype and will never make it at United.
He gave Lukaku another chance to get his scoring boots on but unfortunately he chose carpet slippers again and Fred got another chance and what an awful performance he gave.
Hopefully Dalot and Smalling , Shaw , Herrera , Martial and lingard will all be back as starters on Sunday if not we will get hammered

Didn't expect much, but i was still looking forward to see Greenwood get a chance. And Garner.

Our first team has flatlined. Breaks my heart:(

Unfortunately I can't help it. Tried a lot to avoid games but just can't. Worst United side I ever watched since the 90s IMO. No respect to the fans or the history from the board. Keeping such a manager with these results and keeping the likes of Jones, Valencia and etc.. is showing how far this club is falling.

Another wearisome watch in a grim season.

Jones is beyond parody, but do these players even train on the same pitch?

There were a few things in the game I found notable..

Pogba missing the easiest chance of the season.

Lukaku still not having a clue how to play football.

Fred and perreria literally playing like championship players.

Jones doing his usual Jonesing.

All in all I just expect defeat and poor performances now and that is really setting alarm bells ringing, something has to be done.

Wished I worked on United twitter account.
They seem so cheery and bright.
'Whoopsie, lost against Valencia in the CL. But we make it through the group, yes !.Manager views up next'.

aye, so bloody obvious.

Mourinho: "I think to finish second in this group is a success. I told the players that if they won and Juventus won, we did our job. And if we didn't win and Juventus didn't win, we can blame ourselves."

Oki-dokie.

Phil Jones cycle as a Man Utd player:

1. Out injured 5-10 games
2. Back in the team 2-3 games
3. Injured 5-10 games
4. Back to in team 2-3 games
5. Own goal/mistake leading to a goal.
6. Injured
7. Rinse and repeat

Per game he must be the highest paid defender in the world.
