If Jose is hinting that they we slacking in training and that it would be easy, it is up to him to nip it in the bud. Not just use it after they have lost.

Anyone else mesmerised by Thierry’s beard. At first I thought maybe he’s got a sponsorship with just for men but it’s so sparkly. It’s magnificent. Is there a thread to discuss his beard yet?

It was all lost from the beginning. The one who set up the team got it wrong.

Why started with 3 men midfield agaisnt a team that would do everything to get a point at home.

And why subbed Pogba when it was clear Mata played ineffective.

Just 3 shot on goal with Martial, Lukaku, Rashford and Sanchez or even Pogba in the team showed that this team didnot play like a team and not drilled to attack.

Its clear that we rely on individual brilliance or luck to get the result. Wonder what has JM did for the last 2 season. Its not the player fault the set up was

And having Young and Valencia as first choice FB for club sized like United showed that we clearly havent identified our problem for the last 5 season.

Really the result today makes little difference. United can still secure second place. Winning today would only put off the inevitable (i.e. City winning the PL). Losing today doesn't change United's position in the PL table.

In any event, whether United finish second or fourth, I think the top four teams qualify for the CL group stages next season.

As for the match, United should have had at least one penalty. But penalties or not, it doesn't change the fact that United played poorly today. As I said, kudos to WBA.

Irwin,Parker, the Nevilles even O'shea, all used to get to the byeline and put crosses over, our two, particularly Valencia seem determined not to do this and instead constantly check and play the ball sideways and backwards. Teams who defend deep like WBA today find it too easy to defend the type of ball we keep pumping into the box from in front of their defence.

The CV is less important now. We need someone who can galvanize a group of players to punch well above their collective weight, and in the process play attractive football. Jose is failing in all these categories.
I am fully with @Raoul on this one. Once upon a time Sheva used to be of the best players in the world, just look how it ended up for him. Zizu can be fired after winning 2 consecutive CLs and playing in the semis in his third year. Ancelotti was sacked. Just like every football player, every manager needs to prove his quality game after game, season after season.

Pathetic display due to pathetic tactics from the manager. We are narrow all game with fullbacks too deep to help. Martial comes on and never once tries to take his fullback on the outside. What exactly were his instructions? 'I want you to go on the pitch and do exactly the same thing as everyone else because that's got to work eventually'
Exactly, if your losing, you make substitutions to change the game not to carry on what's causing the problems in the 1st place

Agreed, it was like a glitter ball at a disco. I didn't think he could get any cooler, but I was wrong!

How long would you give him or any other promising young manager till he starts bringing the trophies to OT?

As long as the DOF that we hire to help him decides to give him. As a fan I'm okay if it takes time as long as there are promising signs of improvement. With our last three hires it's always one step forward and two steps backwards.

Not even sure what to make of that performance, it was lethargic and drab with very little cohesion outside of about 15 minutes in the first half.

Was a garbage performance. Slow and ponderous with no idea how to break them down. Can't take this into next season.

Too many average players. It was more obvious today than any other game this season.

BTW, I'm actually glad these lot and Stoke are relegating this season. Finally no more fecking up against them both each season.

Tomorrow I’m rushing to Hobby craft and boots, getting myself some beard dye then throwing sparkles at my face. Maybe tho it was the grey/silver of his beard that he obviously dyes just poking through and catching the light. Could also be his beard oil just having sparkles through it. I know Harrods sell good flaked beard oil.

I feel totally despondent after watching that garbage.WBA bottom of the league and we lose to them at home with another totally inept performance.
The team looks an absolute shambles a back 4 containing Valencia , young and Smalling must be the laughing stock of Europe, we set up with 2 defensive midfielders against the worst team in the premiership could we possibly show any less attacking ambition ?
Pogba has been an unmitigated disaster probably the worst signing in terms of £ per performance that the premiership has ever seen closely followed by Sanchez who looks like a fish out of water .
I worry alreadyy for next season the football we are playing stinks the place out, how many like me looked forward to the match but by the time the second half came along couldn't wait for it to end.
In LVG's last season I was worried that we would win the cup in case it meant LVG would stay , it's almost getting to that stage again the club is in a mess and playing anti football we are so far behind City in every way that it is embarrassing

Yeah Alexis and Mata, so why take Pogba off ?

Girl power !! ;)
Mata should have been the first one off.
If he has a problem with Pogba then I worry he will sell him and it might impact on who we can buy. I would imagine there are more players clamouring to play for Pep and Klopp as they play good football. As has been mentioned by @SqueakyWeasel I am not sure how many players there out there now who understand what it means to play for this great club. They have different motivations now. Maybe some are desperate to be in a Nivea advert.

Apart from that everything is great. We feel your pain.:)

That was some shameful sheet as Senator Clay Davis would have put it.
Jose needs to get his tactics and motivation right. You cannot lose against the bottom side in the league like that.

Hated Liverpool's domination in the 70's, but what put them ahead of everybody else at the time was they were masters of getting the ball away from dangerous situations with one touch, and then putting it straight back to where it came from with the next touch, we under Mourinho take two touches in both phases.....

It's as simple game.

really really annoyed after watching that

how on earth can you go from beating City away and return to that level of awful football

fair enough on personnel not being good enough - I became bored with passes that were to feet or behind players today - not into space encouraging them to move. How many times today did we have a few passes into feet, moved the ball slowly, eventually worked it out to Young/Valencia only for a shite cross against giant defenders....is that the height of our imagination?

Christ we need a manager who inspires us to play fast attacking football

Shambolic. I wasn't actually that bothered by it though, the season has been over for a long time in my head to be honest. The only thing that pees me off, is the possibility of dropping to 3rd and the Scum having the bragging rights of finishing above us yet again.

If this set of clowns capitulate and don't secure 2nd spot, there should be blood. We've been 2nd for what seems like the entire season and were in a position to open up a 7pt gap on the Scum if we'd won our games in hand.

We seem to over-complicate every single attacking move. Someone always takes one touch too many, or plays one extra pass inside the box instead of leathering it on target. Why can't we just be direct? Time after time, it was tiki-taka interplay around the 18yard line with a misplaced pass sending WBA on the counter-attack. Embarassing at times.

That was the first time ever that I've left before the final whistle. I've always been optimistic and thought that a goal would come in the past but there was no way that was going to happen today.

30+ years of going to Utd and this team has broken me.

good job we got knocked out of the champions league, if we drew a top side we would have been on the end of a embarrassing good hiding

We really need a captain in the Robson, Keane mould. A captain who can drive the team and lead by example. Valencia is not in any way shape or form a captain. Nothing wrong in submarine capital in the world @Class of 63

I’m a ST holder and couldn’t be fecked. Gave my ticket away. Still watched on tv. I’m guessing the players felt the same.

So players don't have any desire to:

1) Show our Manager that they are good enough and consistent enough for the future
2) Earn a place for the FA Cup Semifinal
3) Guarantee a top 4 spot
4) Earn their massive wages
5) Try to get in form for World Cup
6) Solidify their chances of making a World Cup Roster
7) Put on a decent show for the fans
8) Make City earn their title win
9) Add stats to their career
10) Play well so they can make more money off future endorsements.

Point is there's absolutely NO reason players shouldn't be up for each and every game. It is literally their job.

The last eight days have epitomised the season really. Capable of beating anyone if we click but capable of looking poor against lesser sides too. We’ve lots of quality but it feels like we’re a long way away from challenging for the big trophies.

People will point to our league position but I think we’re second due to squad depth more than quality. When I watch Spurs and Liverpool I feel like their first XI are closer to looking like complete, balanced sides than ours. They look like they’re a couple of good signings away from getting there whereas you could make a case that 5 or 6 of our players could be replaced. What comes of having 4 managers in 5 years I guess. Tricky transfer window coming up.

You cannot pick and chose which game matter and which ones don't as players, did they think Huddersfield didn't matter or Newcastle? They need their backsides kicking.

I noticed that, it reminded me of Coming to America.

How many falls dawns will we have to go through until our team will actually be consistent? It's so frustrating.

Love Mata(one of the nicest guys in the game), but if you're playing at home against a side that doesn't want to stand toe-to-toe with you he is a waste of space as he hasn't got the pace to make a difference, on Pogba hope i'm wrong but it's set-up for a who is out of the door first, Mourinho or Pogba, there maybe trouble ahead....

Which would you prefer, a years supply of nivea, or a Yanmar tractor ?
