PL L FA Premier League

West Ham United 3:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

I honestly wouldn't care if we transfer listed our entire squad bar Martial and De Gea, not that the latter would have reason to stick around.

Apart from Martial, we looked like we had nothing to play for. Absolutely gutless stuff. I know it was their game plan to win free kicks, but there were so many stupid, lazy challenges around the box. We just played into their hands.

I'm almost happier for the fans as know will be a special day for them (ignoring a few scum bags). We deserve f-all with the way things have been.

No desire first half, no discipline second half. No leadership on or off the pitch throughout. Great idea to foul the cnuts every 2 seconds after taking the lead.

Blind isn't a centre back, Rojo is a liability. Herrera was a terrior who Louis forgot to feed and take for walkies. Bah humbug

I've been conditioned to expect dissapointment when top 4 looks within our grasp this season so losing didn't bother me that much as I expected it. I'm just annoyed at the whole circus around the last match at Upton Park and the commentator cheering their goals and how it is 'meant to be' and all that bullshit. I really wanted us to at least draw just to ruin the whole fecking narrative.
Totally agree. Hate all the self-mythologising around West Ham, they're the Liverpool of London. They showed their true colours by attacking United's coach before the game (which will now be conveniently forgotten of course).

And what more can you expect from Martin Tyler? This is a bloke who said, on air, "I've got to try to be impartial" during the Leicester game. He deserves to be sent to the Traveller's yard along with LVG.

Terrible performance. As expected we have no chance of winning an away game that the opposition is 'up for'.

We fluked the lead when in reality we should have been 3 or 4 down at that stage.

Bottled it against Middlesbrough. Bottled it against PSV. Bottled it against Wolfsburg. And now bottled it against West Ham.
Do people really think we can win the FA Cup?

We'll bottle it versus Palace aswell won't feel as bad as today though, stupid team with a stupid manager

Go ahead Woodward give LVG another year and then hand the keys to Giggs, see where it will fecking get us in a couple of years, we might be celebrating staying up in the PL

If I were Martial or DDG I'd try my fecking best to get out of this steaming fecking shithole of a club

Martial by far MOM
First half awful, second half got back into it and played well for a while, even took the lead
But continuously giving away free kicks cost us big time
Valencia and Blind especially had nightmares in defence

Although we didn't play well overall we could have sneaked this with a bit more tactical nous

We couldn't even get a draw at 2-1 up with 15 minutes to play. At least event hat would put a little pressure on City to win away at Swansea. Now they can stroll into Wales knowing even a fecking draw will be enough.

Don't get me wrong even before tonight we didn't deserve top 4 but what a way to seize the opportunity. Shite.

Its must win game so we simply bolted it,
Just like Lester game, Spurs game liverpool game and its goes on.

We really not need to wait for FA cup game if we really going to sack him.

It's weird, we always seem to pull a performance out of the bag when it seems LVG's job is teetering, but when we need a performance that would actually benefit the club we're no where to be found.

Wolfsburg all over again, I honestly thought finally, this team showing some cojones and character, but no. If Man United needing 3 points for a Champions League spot can't match the intensity of a team celebrating playing their final game at a stadium, there is something wrong. Tony M above the criticism, playing after being doubtful , showing the way but no one following. How much the incident before the game affected the United players, who knows, but now it is just something to look on as an excuse, rather than using it as motivation factor to go out and get the 3 points.
Kind of sums United up under LvG. Almost like the good old days, City fans sitting watching, willing United to lose a big game, but sadly they got their wish.
United showed no real desire to go out and get the job done, West Ham just piled on the pressure and it worked, agree with a few posts on here saying United just played into their hands. All they did was apply the pressure and waited for United to crack, and they did.
The scheduling of this game meant it was a monstrous occasion, and sadly, this Man United team couldn't handle it, at all.
Sorry, David Gold you are an utter chump - if West Ham's team coach, with you on it, turned up at OT, got surrounded by United fans and smashed up ( never happen anyway) would you say, that's our fault, we got here too late ? Try living in the real world you complete buffoon, and I am being polite with what I am calling you.

I know it's pathetic to complain about this, but it's fecking annoying this vital game for us fell on West Ham's final game of the season. They were fecking shit against Swansea and then their fans bring the best atmosphere I've ever seen at Upton Park to our must win game. It just had to be against us didn't it?

The only surprising thing about that game was that we went 2-1 up. It was a pathtic perfromance for the most part.
We have so many average players, its ridiculous.

Fair result.

I for one think we did well to finish top 6. The quality of our squad is a lot worse than we seem to think.
I would argue its the other way around really. Quality of the squad was good enough to make top 4 but let down by the manager's "philosophy".

Another poor defensive display by United. Down to LVG's stupid, stubborn, obsolete way of management. Should bring in Mourinho immediately, if not, FA cup champion could be Palace.

Damn right!. Good post

game raising cnuts, but we are used to that over our life, cock sucking ref we sometimes get, we sometimes don't, we can deal over the season. Heartless characterless cowardly players I can't handle, and the same with the management, not just LVG but assistant and all the way up to Woodward.

Absolutely had enough

Worst thing about it is not that I won't see my club in the CL again, it is that City fans are laughing their balls off about it, brings back memories of that PL title we lost on goal difference, feck !

Im inclined to agree with you. Emotions are running high now, but our club has good players playing a shite system.

Aside from Martial and that one assist from Mata, we were exactly as bad as we usually are.

Herrera had a nightmare, Rojo was Rojo, Blind was a non-CB playing at CB, Rashford was lost, Schneiderlin was as anonymous in the first half as he was in the second....

I wonder what Louis' hard luck story will be tonight...

I still would like to see this team under another manager, with a few going and some new blood in (some hard bastards). I just think LVG has let them settle into an 'inferior' sort of mentality, probably down to his fears of not doing well, or losing his job. But it's really worked against the team. That's not what we're about. Jesus wept.

So many fouls taken and still come out looking like a bunch of carebears. Mata is probably hosting a hugging party in the sauna after the game.

I am so pissed off but this post has cheered me up no end

An idiotic performance, orchestrated by the worlds biggest idiot.

Why in the first half were we seemingly surprised by the fact that West Ham were up for this game? Because we're idiots
Why do Smalling and Blind not communicate with each other despite having played most of the season next to each other? Because we're idiots
Why has LVG persisted with playing a midfielder in defence and not thought that it would come back to bite us at some point? Because he's an idiot
Why in the second half did we continually think it was a good idea to foul their players? Because we're idiots.
Why did we consistently seek out the wrong pass, or overhit our passes, or sometimes not even pass it to anyone at all? Because we're idiots.
Why did we fail to properly test a shit keeper, who showed his shitness to us, and we didn't do anything to put a shot on target after that? Because we're idiots.

I could go on but you get my point.

Anyone surprised with the result? I knew we were going to feck this up, but thought we might get a draw out of it.

They had over 20 attempts at goal, us about 4. That say's it all.
Yes but LvG would try and justify that by saying United scored 2 from 4, West Ham scored 3 from 20, so that would be in his view, something positive.

We seem to have made a habit in the last 3 years of giving ourselves a glimmer of hope and then it's almost instantly ruined.

Evra against Bayern, holy shit we're winning we're going through. 60 seconds later Bayern score and we lose.

OG against Wolfsburg, yes it's 2-2 we are going to scrape through the group, 60 seconds later oh it's 3-2 and we lose

2-1 against West Ham, yes we are going to scramble to top 4, 5 minutes later oh it's 3-2 and we lose.

It makes it all the more painful.

Did we win even 1 aerial duel? And while Herrera was atrocious- easily the worst, people seem to be forgetting how bad Blind was at times. Smalling, with all the height he has, should win more headers. And while Mata did play better in 2nd half, he should have been taken off at HT. This was the game where guys like Lingard, TMF and even Memphis play. Herrera should have been taken off around at 60 minutes when he started conceding mindless freekicks
