Post-match discussion

Sorry but no club has World Class players in every position, we have good players, some average yes but he's also bought average players himself like Matic. Seriously if you're still supporting Mourinho at this point it's pointless even getting into a discussion with you because you are so brainwashed it's unreal and you deserve to watch this god awful football for life.
Im not a Mourinho fan, I just saw during Moyes and LVG that players we have are not good enough. 6-7 players from Moyes era started the game and 9 from LVG, and fans are still wondering why United is not good??

Of course they are bad, they were bad under LVG and still are now!! 9 players started the game and the same players were bad under LVG.

Look we have top players in the squad, there is no questioning it, if Jose doesn't want to play them because he can't get them to play for him, or worse still he doesn't know how to get them to play to their best, then that's down to him, but this having crap players stuff is just wrong.

Please tell me about those good players.

Nope, he didnit even have to to anything. United fans just love to overrate the players.

You need to have more than just two good players. Pogba and De Gea are world class, rest is so far from it.

Pogba world class !
Didn’t look it AGAIN when he came on

The style of play was poor, couldn't put them under severe pressure. Overloading the middle of the park, not enough movements off the ball, but what really annoyed me was the quality of the crosses. Especially Luke Shaw -who in theory should be an expert was quite underwhelming, has he already regressed after the early contract extension?

Still, we got the win, finished second in our group and don't have any pressure in the last game. Football is a funny game and about results, we got it, therefore atm i can't say Mourinho's got to go.

I don't need to list them, the fact they're not good for us doesn't mean they are bad players, it's surely no coincidence that alot of players have walked through our door looking world beaters, yet in no time at all look terrible, and I'm not talking about just Jose either.

We’re awful. The ending was really quite funny. Route one football and big Fell the hero. We’ve become some kind of cosmic joke. Payback for being so ridiculously successful for so long. I think I’m just going to focus on comedy value from here on in.

It's amazing we've made the last sixteen, given our home results. It was awful again: there is no confidence in the team at all and the finishing was a disgrace tonight. Rashford alone should have had four.

Any club wanting success has to have more quality than we do. All the top 5 do, and they're not all challenging. It's both quality of players and manager that's the problem.

As per, the match day thread trumps the actual game. Quote of the night, in a strong field, to @C'est Moi Cantona..."That goal was just a rotten cherry on a bowl of puke".
It's how I'd like José's reign to be remembered.

People are overstating how bad the performance was for sure.

The last twenty minutes was pretty awful though and that’s what stays in people’s minds. I think we tired from the early intensity - Similar happened vs Spurs.

The real issue that this is a constant problem. Our forwards aren’t killing games when they have the chances. I wouldn’t have expected too much more whether it was Lukaku up there either in his current state. The quality isn’t there.

When United miss their chances and they still haven't scored by minute 60-70, that lack of confidence kicks in and the whole team falls apart. There's a serious mental fragility to this side.

I just don't understand why Sanchez is not given more chances to play as #9. He works hard and is technically miles ahead of Rashford and Lukaku. Rashford never finishes one-on-ones; if I were his manager I wold have him practicing just that and nothing else.

We're a god awful team but Fellaini saved the day again

First half wasn't too bad but yeah, the second half was atrocious and I was just waiting for them to nick one to be honest. Either way, I think we all know this team isn't going anywhere.

Not a good performance overall. I'd probably give man of the match to Phil Jones which says it all.
Martial's decision making was terrible, he could have played somebody in on the counter several times but went himself and butchered the chance.
I was hoping Rashford would grab a goal. He does so much right and can be genuinely exciting. I don't know how we can get the best out of him.
Fantastic save from Dave.
We scraped a win and the circus rolls on for another week.

Didn’t see the game but no surprise it’s Fellaini that won it.

We're an absolute dogshit football team.

And Mourinho's celebration was a joke. Going nuts like you've just come from two goals down to take it from Bayern at the Camp Nou. It's like fist-pumping after beating a blind kid at darts.

I never ever hope to see the David Moyes against Fulham meme ever again. It's a travesty if Jose's effort doesn't replace it as the face of how far we've fallen.

Watching him react like that almost made me wish we hadn't even won.

Jones will have a few good games, possibly fooling us into believing he's a genuinely great CB, and then he'll suffer a minor injury and turn into an error-prone buffoon again. It's the Phil Jones cycle.

Deserved win by attrition in the end:

Interpretation: We missed some sitters.
The more and more I've read up on xG the more I appreciate it.
For anyone interested, watch their 4 minute explanation video.

Our game today was good enough in the first half. Wasted chances and not enough chances created based on the possession we had and the tempo. Second half was a more even game.

Bottle trashing was obviously rage that he still can't move out of that fecking hotel yet.

I watched the whole thing and I think I deserve payment for doing that.

De Gea making a top tier save was the highlight of the match.

Full backs shite. Midfield shite. Forwards shite.

Brilliant stuff.
I like this idea. We're so boring we should start paying fans watching at home as well for 'attending'.

It's the best way to be honest. The football is too miserable to be overly invested in/analytical of. The results at the moment merely serve to keep us meandering along at the barely acceptable levels. May as well just take it all with a pinch of salt.

Hilarious hulk smash at the end from Jose, was needed after that awful game. Fair few look to have their night ruined by that late banger from Fellaini and not all YB fans.

Let him have his moments. At the united won, we should atleast feel good that we are in the knockout stages

I doubt anyone thought Jose would get sacked for a draw or loss against YB. The Glazers and Ed don't give a damn about the CL, the league is their bread and butter.

I think Jose's statement about being in the top 4 after the next 8 games is part of a private discussion he had with Ed, where he probably told Ed something similar. Either way, he won't be sacked unless we draw or lose all of the next 7.

Most fans had already left in disgust by the time goal was scored.

14 seasons boys, congratz JM, now what was the question so he went full me and my achievements?
He's been doing that for a number weeks. Deflection tactics for poor performances. Chelsea and Juve games was the 3 finger salute.

Agreed it is the only way to remain relatively sane.

He's so insecure. Others should be gushing about your achievements rather than you needing to remind them.
