You simply can't blame Mourinho for Rashford's dogshite decision making and finishing. He is the most brainless footballer I have ever seen.

I mean obviously player mistakes during a match are not Jose's fault. BUT can't you coach a player to make better decisions and improve their finishing? Some players improve under certain managers, who has noticeably improved under Jose?

Decision making doesn't drastically improve. It's not going to improve from trash to great. That's illogical. Best we can improve it is from trash to decent. Otherwise the likes of Welbeck or Walcott would have improved more than what they did.

yeah Ronaldo's decision making didn't improve did it

I can read very well thank you.

I was being sarcastic quite obviously

The degree of improvement depends on the base you are starting on, otherwise any one would improve to world class.

Ronaldo's one wasn't trash. It was inconsistent and greedy, but the quality was obviously there. The base was high, we needed to improve him to be more consistent with it and less greedy.

Rashford decision making is simply trash. It's hard to believe it's going to improve to world class. Decent at best imo.

I think Martial is going to improve his flaws far more than Rashford for example, as he has a higher base.

well.... firstly I'd agree Rashford's decision making hasn't been good of late - to say it's trash is far too harsh though - the kid hasn't started 3 or4 games in a row, he's 21 and I'd argue he showed far better finishing/decision making under Van Gaal, a coach who was supportive

we don't know Rashford's ceiling - I'd like to see him under another coach, someone who trusts him and gives him opportunities

you only had to see Mourinho's "I told you so reaction" to his early miss to see the pressure cooker he's operating in

with the right attitude and coaching I think Rashford could be easily a 20 goal a season striker

Coaching can only do so much but Rashford's selfishness won't really help him. Last season at Burnely where he decided not to pass the ball to Martial. Last game too he took ages to spot Martial, did his silly useless stuff and eventually did a bad layoff for Fellaini (Martial had continued his run waiting like for an eternity).

You can't coach intelligence. Rashford is as thick as you can get. I hope i am proved wrong but there is no sign of any improvement in his decision making.

I agree. I think he is a very good player. Has lost confidence under Mouirnho.

despite the poor finishing Rashford is undoubtedly our best number 9 at the minute

his pace and movement is getting him into positions where he can score - which is more that what you can say about Lukaku

Give him another 5/6 games at 9, some supportive words and the goals will come

That's not his first season. He's also not someone who doesn't play much too. He plays pretty much every game, starter or sub. His decision making last season was nothing short of embarrassing, and it's continuing this season. Several times he had players who were completely free and starting a run for him to pass but he decides "feck them, I'll get it on my own, it'll be easier that way!". It wasn't one or 2 times to say it's just greed, it has been literally every time. Out of all our players, he takes the most brainless decisions of them. At this point you need to start questioning his intelligence in the final third of the pitch if he keeps doing the same mistake every time.

Feck Mourinho for all I care but as I said, there's a limit of improvement you can do for each player otherwise everyone will improve to world class, which doesn't happen.

Rashford ceiling for me is a good squad player option for long term. Pretty hard to imagine him as a long term starter.

Losing confidence is taking extra touches etc. He has not lost his confidence. I think all the hype has gone to his head. As el2mel says he is not passing the ball to his team mates. He only passes when he is at a dead end. The one time Martial dribbled through Rashford took the shot and hit the side netting. Martial looked a bit upset because if Rashford has left to Martial would have taken the shot for sure.

I think you can. Sterling has erratic decision making but he improved a lot in the last year . I don't expect Rashford to become a neymar for example because he doesn't have the talent but he can be a solid and reliable goalscorer with better coaching.

Coaching and videoanalysis after the match would change/improve his decisionsmaking. He got the physique, the ability to score from distance and he is not lazy. With the correct coaching(coach/manager that is detailoriented) and a little improvement in tech and pass he could be great. But these elements of the game will not be taught him at Manchester United as of date.

That's why Mourinho was going ape sh*t at the end, trashing the bottle case. Fellaini had ruined his master plan of getting us knocked out of the CL, which would have got him the sack and receive a big pay-off.
Ah, well observed, his emotional frailties have exposed his master plan yet again, though to be honest his team selection was the giveaway for me.

Hopefully you are right. But as @Foxbatt says, sometimes it does feel like the hype has taken its toll on him. Only a tough manager can solve that issue. If Jose can't do that, I don't know who will.
