Pre-season friendly Manchester City - Manchester United | Match cancelled

I didn't realize City had the power to cancel it on their own. Still, some strange logic to link that to Mou's hypocrisy - he messed with the pitch for years and lampooned those who were critical and yet he's here complaining about it again. Definition of hypocrisy.

Have you seen the pictures of the pitch? Regardless of what has happened in the past he is completely correct to not want to risk the players on that pitch, and I'd be pretty sure that any pitches from previous El Classicos are nothing like as bad as that. I'm also pretty sure you would feel the same if Barca were due to play on it.

Again, hypocrisy does not mean what you are implying - I never want players/teams playing on shite pitches

Pitch was pathetic, Pep, City, organizers believed pitch was unfit but somehow Jose is hypocrite. Some Barca fans *facepalm*

Meanwhile, gutted for people who fail to comprehend the term hypocrisy

But in that case, what is the relevance?

Edit: In that case, he is complaining about an unplayable field while you are complaining about a field that isn't ideal for your team. That's two different subjects.

I was looking forward to this, with our 2 new managers there's no way this would have been a friendly friendly, Jose at least would have been looking to start off the mind games and put an early statement out there.

Eh? It might sound hypocrisy in your head but for others it's not and it's irrelevant.

Agree with this. Jose doesn't like this pitch as it is potentially dangerous for the players, it isn't the same as complaining because the pitch doesn't suit your team's playing style.

For what it's worth I do think Jose can be a hypocrite but not on this particular matter.

Anyway, FC Barca has reeled a few of us in with this one so I'll leave him to it.

Part of that is true but the potato patch at Chelsea was in a worse state than the one in China and he had no issue leaving it like that. Hypocrite, but your hypocrite

I'll take a hypocrite over a racist or tax dodger any day.

When was Chelsea's pitch ever in a worse state than this ?

So you don't want to sign Pogba? If we didn't do the commercial side of the game we wouldn't have the money to break transfer records and sign players like Pogba.
I really dont care either way mate. IF it happens great, if it doesnt there is a world of players out there we could sign that would improve us.

I know but we need the money that we make out of the commercial side to be able to afford those players. With the way we've played over the last 3 years the only way we can still compete with the likes of Real is by being the best at the corporate game.
We need trips like China no matter how hard they are.

You have to put the team first, what if we are on a money making trip, and a key player gets injured due to sub standard pitches, or begins the season tired from unnecessary traveling? Or any other number of things that could be avoided? We then drop points because that player is unavailable, then miss out on CL footy again because of those dropped points? Where we are at the moment as a club we cant afford to keep making avoidable mistakes. When we are back at the peak by all means we can do the marketing Schtick, as we would have better squad depth and injuries could be coped with more. Its a bit of a chicken and egg situation, but Im of the opinion that if the manager says it shouldnt happen, it shouldnt happen.

Holy moly... I had no idea pitches were that bad in the EPL that recently.

I remember the new Wembley had a shit pitch for a couple of years but I think that's been cleared up?

Simply accurate, not obsessive. Let's not forget either that other Premiership clubs were up in arms over Mou's pitch tactics, gooners from a decade ago surely remember as well

Okay. You said that Mourinho's a hypocrite to "refuse" to let his team play on a surface that has nothing to do football pitch and probably injure a fair few players in the process? Because he some years ago manifactured a scenario where more than a club couldn't play their own brand of football.

You think that because of that he should've forced City to play and gone on with the match?

I said he was a hypocrite for citing pitch conditions as being an issue to play when he employed that very same tactic of manufacturing poor pitches against teams who were better than his team

This has to be the most boring pre season ever. Its almost August and we have barely played.
