Pre-season tour 2016-17

SIX EURO STARS RETURNING TO WORK AT UNITED

The six Manchester United players granted a late start for pre-season training due to their Euro 2016 involvement will report back to the Aon Training Complex on Sunday.

Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic are to begin work before the rest of the squad return from Beijing, China, where the second game of Tour 2016, presented by Aon, will be played against Manchester City on Monday.

New signing Ibrahimovic has been set a personalised programme before linking up with the full squad on Thursday. The Reds' third tour match will follow on Saturday, against Turkish club Galatasaray in Gothenburg.

United manager Jose Mourinho told newspaper journalists: "On Sunday, even before we arrive back in Manchester, I will send two of my coaches to start working with the other players.

"The other players will start working on Sunday. Step-by-step, we are going to do the puzzle but it's easy to feel that they want it and that's very important.

"Zlatan is going to start a specific programme we have prepared before he joins our group on Thursday, so he has five days just for him.”

So the whole squad is back in training tomorrow, we’ll finally see some footage of Zlatan in a United shirt  Hope we’ll also hear Martial laugh at this number thingy.

What like Sunday today? That means that Schneiderlin and Martial have had less than 2 weeks off, not that they played much anyway but they'd still been training most days since the end of last season.
Still I expect they're all keen to get back and at the new programme.

Tbf Martial played about 60 minutes, & I don't think Schneiderlin played any.

As I said those two are probably keen to get back and into the system, not so sure about BfS though, still he'll get plenty of time off looking for a new club. Now if Pogba could cut short his vacation and get on with signing for us that would be useful too.

Aye, 2 weeks isn’t ideal, I guess they might get an extra week in the middle of the season, I remember SAF doing this to Ronnie & Rooney once at least.

I don't think either of those two have exactly been worn out by their exertions over the summer.

No, but as been said several times, it’s not only the physical workload in matches, you still train every day and focus on the matches. That compared to others relaxing on beaches is a bit different. In any case, I’m happy they’re back!

It's not about being worn out, the thing is that since the day after the Cup Final they've been training, playing, travelling, doing whatever someone told them to do. As it is they probably won't mind getting back to the club
and getting themselves into contention but it's not ideal. UEFA pays the club for indisponibility of players and I think they recommend a certain period of break for players involved in competitons outside of domestic seasons. Anyway the sports scientists and docs will no doubt judge who can start intensive training and who can't and we can just hope that José has learnt to respect those people a bit more than he did in Eva's case:)

You can tell Jose isn't too pleased about this tour.

I think he'll have been pissed off with the performance on Friday more than anything. You can say what you like about Dortmund being farther along with their programme than us but we were just non-existent in some departments and that from professional and experienced players must be of concern.. As he can't start pruning those who he wants to prune until he has a full complement he's obviously ordered the others back straight away, I mean on a Sunday ?

Please don't project your make up.

The the flight had to land half way due to weather, affected schedule of training and resting. China is less than ideal place to train. Just want to get done with these useless game and come home.

Post-Conference MUTV Interview

On China: 'last day, last match, and then we can go home to train in good condition where the players feel good, feel safe and bring the intensity when we get home.'

On Conditions: 'The conditions for the training session are not the best, but we can control it by doing very little. In a match it's more difficult. So I hope everyone goes home without any injury to the start the competitive period well'

On what he expects from game: [Because of conditions] '[I can hope for] emotional balance. I cannot ask anything for a high performance level. I hope they keep calm, and not let their motivation go down, and go home safely. Then we train at home and play two more games.'

On Manchester Derby as a friendly: 'City against United for me is Old Trafford / Etihad or even cup final at Wembley  It was a friendly before we knew the conditions, and now it's maybe more of a double-friendly.'

On PL: 'Without any doubt 6 or 7 teams will fight for the title. Without any doubt all 20 teams will fight for every point. The Premier League is special.'

The friendly against Gatalasaray in Sweden will need Zlatan inclusion for commercial interest. This is not some emergency summon, but scheduled one.

It's not sure training stated on Sunday, but traveling time by the sound of it. You know, getting back to town before Monday work.
