Premier League fixtures 14/15/16th October

I remember them very well as we snuck past them in the CL semi finals on the way to winning the cup. They had an incredible squad.

An incredible squad that got thrashed by Madrid, finished 3rd in a weak La Liga, and ended the season with Rijkaard getting sacked, and Ronaldinho AWOL.

There's news articles from the time describing how far they had fallen. Any attempt to paint them as a great squad in need of a few paint touches is sheer revisionism.

Watch him score now but i've not seen anything from Lacazette that makes me think hes the type of player Arsenal have been lacking. Barely in the game and is really wasteful in possession.

Arsenal fans: is that a fair criticism of him or has he just been poor today?

He struggles away from home atm, while he is always lively at the Emirates.

They had a team full of brilliant individuals. The coach was lacking, but that's it. They failed to find a balance and bring best of their players, having a better starting XI.

Comparing individual, on paper they could arguably get overall rating as good as us who won CL and PL. I meant look at their squad (bench included). Arguably they had the most luxurious bench at the time.

Gotta wonder what possessed Lacazette to go there cos he must have known those two were soon to be gone. I can only imagine he was promised more signings to come in after him.

As much as I find DT and his cronies hilariously deluded, they've got a great point that Arsenal shouldn't be in the position they're in after years and years of low spending despite the astronomical prices they charge and money they must have pocketed from permanent CL qualification. They're kinda a red and white Newcastle.

There are increasing questions about the huge bank balances Arsenal have kept the last few years. Its looking really dodgy at this point.
More and more supporters are questioning if perhaps Kroenke is keeping hundred million+ in the bank because in the last two years he has taken out around 1.5 billion USD in loans to finance his massive ranch purchase and the massive stadium and property development for his relocated NFL club.

If Kroenke is indeed keeping that money in the bank to lower his interest rates on his financing then Kroenke would be ven worse than your famous Hicks and Gillette.

Losing 2 of their best players in Matic and Costa plus having to play more than one match a week
That's part of it, I guess.

But I also think that they are facing the same problem that every EPL champions have faced since 2009: the inability to retain the title. If they don't win it this year (and I don't think they will), then it will be 10 years without a team defending the EPL title.

Welbeck injured again
Consistency...

People are now starting to say that City had a great squad when he took over too. You know, the squad that had a lower-midtable level goalie, no top class fit central defenders, four ageing average full backs, Fernandinho and a Touré that everyone had been calling past it for the last two years of Pellegrino as the only top class midfielders and Wifried Bony as the only back up to an injury prone Agüero.

Plus Sterling, who most of England had come to the conclusion was a brainless, overrated waste of money.

From the big striker purchases this summer you'd have to say Arsenal got the short end of the stick.

Not convinced by Lacazette at all.

TBF Ozil their best assisted and chance creator was not available. Lacazzette is a more of pure finisher. He would need to be fed constantly. Arsenal style without a pure assisted is asking him to play out of his preferred style too much

Edit: not a penalty.

Just come back to see it's 1-1.
