Premier League Fixtures - 22/23

With the exception of October and perhaps January, it's a pretty good spread of games. Europa League in October will make it even worse.

We'll get to see early on what we're made of as we're facing teams that absolutely hammered us last season so early on. The Liverpool one in particular will be a huge test.

It's actually bad because some cannon fodder at first will allow the team to build up some confidence / momentum. Right now I see a very high possibility of Rangnick v2 happening by the time it's November.

The November World Cup break is really going to shake up things.

October is going to be a blood bath for everyone. Between the fatigue accumulated until now and the fear of injury pre-WC, i think the quality of this year's championship will massively suffer.
I wonder which team will feel the biggest impact if the favorite nations go far into the KO rounds.
Arsenal: Tielemans, Gabriel, Jesus, Martinelli, Saka, White, Nuno Tavares
United: McGuire, Shaw, Varane, Sancho, Ronaldo & Bruno
Spurs: Kane, Romero, Lloris, Dier, Perisic
Chelsea: James, Kovacic, Kante, Mount, Havertz
Liverpool: Alisson, Konate, Trent, Fabinho, Jota
City: Walker, KdB, Grealish, Foden, Gundogan, Cancelo, Dias, Bernardo Silva

Oh, will you look at that: for the fourth year in a row, Liverpool get to start the season off with a game against a newly promoted side.

They're the only club in history who has faced a newly promoted side in the first league game four years in a row.

When does Satan come to collect on all those favors? Because it's clear that they've made some sort of deal.

So 9 days prep for the WC after 12th November games. If players are in the final on the 18th, have 8 days off before league game on 26th....

This year money finally kills football?
Players haven't had such a long rest for summer for years, and we all knew the winter World Cup for many seasons already.

To be fair you probably dont want to play newly promoted sides in the first week. It’s more of a level playing field as most teams will be at the same fitness levels, and the newly promoted teams will have a spring in their step, which gets depleted as the season goes on.

I see the person behind Man United twitter asked which month are you looking forward to most? a predictable answer, May when the misery is ended.

The world cup break will benefit the smaller clubs with fewer international players. So clubs squads of these sides will get a rest. Might make for some huge upsets when the season resumes

Last 2 games against Liverpool at OT ended 2-4 and 0-5 so I'm not optimistic (especially with our lack of business in transfer market so far) about that game at all.

Brighton are solid team and we'll have to be ready for start of the season.

The dichotomy between your username and the post is fantastic. It's going to be an interesting season!

It's impossible to feel anything beyond blind optimism, as it's a huge ask for Ten Hag to have got us into any sort of shape a few games in.
Especially without any sign of new signings yet.

To be honest, even that opening day game home to a Brighton we lost 4-0 to recently, screams of that 2-1 home defeat in Van Gaal's first game in charge.

Our match against Liverpool has been moved to Monday August 22, 8pm kick off. I thought the authorities weren't keen on evening kick offs for lively games like these.

Just had a random look at the fixtures and noticed the last game is slated for the 28th. Last season ended on the 22nd so that’s a whole 6 day difference with a World Cup in the middle.
Surely to feck that’s too much for the players? There’s absolutely no leeway given here.

Season is starting a week earlier than usual. Plus there will be an international break less than usual (2 weeks) as they played the extra games in June. And the extra week you mentioned. So they have 4 weeks more than usual.

It might be a bit bad for players who reach the WC semis. Most players won't go that far though and will be getting more rest than they would in a normal season.
