Premier League Gameweek 18 (16th - 18th December 2017)

There is being bitter and calling them an oil club, and then there is this other end of the spectrum. Everything in moderation, ffs.

What moderation? They're on pace to destroy just about every record and playing every Top 6 side off the park. It is remarkable whether you want to believe it or not.

They will have 52 from 54 after today. That is reality, not hyperbole. I'm not saying they wont drop off or that they'll be the greatest ever when all is said and done - Just as of right now I've never seen a PL team so completely dominant. They're incredible.

Harry winks seems to be shouting at lots of people:lol:

That first half was a Winks and Trippier masterclass

Actually, Napoli (almost) did it. City looked like United that night.
I meant in the Premier League.

You need a striker in form, a mean defence and a midfield which can force mistakes to get the better of them. We haven't seen how they would respond to a defeat in the league, their response for me will be telling.

Eriksen and Kane need to get involved more in the second half if Spurs are to get a result tonight. Poch's tactics are clearly not working against the monstrosity that is this City side.

What is that white smoke in the stadium. Did anyone started a flare?

Someone must surely do some drugs test in this city team. How the feck can they press like that game after game and still look so fresh every match?

They press in phases. Sometimes Aguero does it. Sometimes De Bruyne does it.

Plus they hold so much possession that they don't need to press constantly.

There have been what-if moments this season. Bournemouth away one of them.

Liverpool or Arsenal will be their away undoing. You need a side reckless and gung-ho to outdo them. The longer the game was 1-0 with Mane on Liverpool would've fancied their chances.

The Liverpool game was key. They had looked pretty poor up to that game and did so in the early running against Liverpool. Aguero scores against the run of play, Mane got sent off and they panned them 5-0. It gave them the confidence and started their awesome run.

Unfortunately we will probably have to wait until one of his players to have serious health issues down the line for it to come out in the wash.

Not even a defeat now would change anything, they're unplayable at the moment. Not because they're extra special at football, just their confidence is rocking.

Technically, tactically, physically and mentally scintillating to watch.

One day...

I think the top 6 bar ourselves and City are weaker than last season or at the least they have had a dip in form, and that is certainly contributing. Look at Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, none of them are as good as they were last season. We are stronger, but we brought that defeat on ourselves through 2 silly mistakes.

Also look at the lower teams. Almost all of them are struggling for consistency and form, bar Burnley. So they have become fodder for an incredible team like City.

Its a foregone conclusion that top teams have some legally grey drug practices. However, Guardiola's Barcelona team were implicated in some scandal in Spain that was brushed under the rug.

We couldn't string two passes together for most of that game, but yeah, brilliant tactics
The execution was obviously bad, but sitting back and playing it forward to your physically strong players is still better than playing directly into their strength and trying to get out of their press with players like Smalling, Matic and Herrera who are simply not equiped to do that.

I'd guess they don't actually run a significant amount more than anyone else. They're just coached to a tee in terms of when and where to press. They do it in concentrated area of the pitch & spend very little time without the ball.

We have one player who would try to do it. The rest just stand there. As you say, you have to share it out in phases.

For all the "amazing", "out-of-this-world", "extra-terrestrial", football that "no-one can live with" Prp's golden boys are ahead by a solitary goal from a badly marked set piece header.
The same way they've won at OT.

It's not only about the goals scored, it's about how they're going about their business. They play beautiful football, they've become ruthless at killing off games, even their wing backs create more chances than the wingers from most other sides. It's just a very well oiled machine in full flow.
