Chelsea not hitting the season running is always good because they are a more 'durable' team.
City will fade.
They looked anything but durable out there....they looked old and tired. I'm not sure you can turn that around

Mourinho believes the best team in the 2nd half was Chelsea. LOL

More from Jose Mourinho on Sky Sports "Their decision to bring on (centre-back) Martin Demichelis is an intelligent change, the sort of change I get criticised for all the time.

"Their midfield was in trouble, probably they should finish the game with nine men. In the end I have to be happy with the second half we did. That is not enough to win the game."

That's not really adopting Mourinho's tactics since Mourinho didn't invent defensive football, with Netherlands in the world cup Louis van Gaal also played defensively, he adapted to his selection, his team didn't look like a Mourinho team though.

With us he's doing the sensible thing and playing to our strength, his full backs are quality defensively and also he has always liked physical players in central midfield, van Bommel and Schweinsteiger for example or Rijkaard and Davids.

If he tries to play an open attacking game then we will struggle, we need to wait until our attack finds form, then hopefully he will have that balance by being defensively solid and also having creative attacking players.

Right now our best chance of putting points on the board is keeping the match tight, Darmian and Shaw are shutting off the flanks, Schneiderlin and Carrick / Schweinsteiger the centre before they even get to Smalling or Blind, the attack aren't dangerous enough yet, Young gets into good positions only to lack the end product, Mata has it but lacks the pace we need down the right, Rooney needs to find form, he wants a second striker preferably over a third midfielder but his options seem to be memphis or Januzaj.

I think we will be more attacking in a few months time if the defence stay solid, we just need to find the right combination and they need to find some form. Mourinho attacks the small teams however he will defend in the bigger matches and also last season when he had a lead at the top he went defensive against smaller teams, I'd expect van Gaal to try and control the match even away in the big games and also remain attacking if he does open up a lead (which we most likely won't).

good analysis.

only concern is we are going for a striker who is nearer 30..again if Pedro is the one. Bale would be excellent should it happen...and if we do end up getting a proven CB, we should be set.

Because we aren't any better than last season. We've had a better start but this does not mean that we have a better team. Hopefully I'm wrong but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Besides, we paly in the CL this season.
How are we not any better though? Darmian is a brilliant right back and is a massive improvement on Valencia, Smalling is continually looking better, we finally have a replacement for Carrick and are so strong in midfield. Before we only looked good when Carrick was fit but without him we lacked a holding midfielder. Think we had a 75% win rate when he was fit, compared to around 30% without him. Now we'll always have either him or Schweinsteiger in there, with Schneiderlin and Herrera in midfield if they're both injured at the same time. It's a huge difference compared to last season. You're really underestimating how good a player Schweinsteiger is anyway if you don't think he'll make a difference. He's the best midfielder in the league by a distance if he stays fit.

Jose:eek::confused:
Not sure what he's trying to say about anything.

Basically, Mourinho takes credit for City's win. Great management Jose.

Here's how the match report starts on Chelsea's website.

"A Ramires goal incorrectly ruled out for offside with Man City a goal ahead changed the complexion of this early-season Premier League fixture."

We celebrated 4th place? Maybe I missed that.
Ok so if we arent allowed to make fun of them can we say they probably wont win the title...?
Not necessarily the Newcastle like Arsenal celebrations..but a lot of us especially here were super excited when we did..Perhaps its coming out the wrong way, just enjoyed mocking them more when I could and didnt have to worry about how bad we were too.

Its fair to say we were all happy with how Chelsea performed in the second half. Hope they have more.

All true but as I said last year we were just one point behind them.

I know he loves to moan but he's right about some things. Toure should have gone (didn't realise he was even on a booking) and Fernandinho was also very lucky.

Mourinho clearly feeling the pressure. Talking even more jibberish than usual

Jose looked tired, dejected, like a beaten dog. Usually when he loses he's still feisty and sarcastic, now he looks like a man under serious pressure.

Maybe against us that luck will run out
