Premier League matchweek 36 (may 5th-may 10th)

My theory made earlier in the season off the back of watching Spurs on many occasions is coming true.

Tottenham is completely inept when playing on large grounds or at least do not look half as good since their pressing tactics are tailored for narrow and short pitches.

The games they struggled most this season where either on Wembley or against teams that play on wide pitches (United away, City away, Arsenal away, West Ham away, etc.).

Some truth in that

See Spurs doing a Spurs so far...

What measurement do they perform best on?

I want Spurs to pip Chelsea to the league but I also can't help but want them to lose every game they play... What a paradox.

Ffs Spurs.

Now West Ham will go on a run of form that will probably include picking up points against us :(

People throw "bottle" way too often when talking about Spurs, but their performance tonight so far really deserves that label.

Chelsea won't lose the title so Spurs losing here and Chelsea winning their next two basically means the title is over for Spurs when we play them. You never know what the top 4 race might look like in another week.

What is it with all these bubbles?:lol:

Wouldnt be the first team to struggle with big pitches.

Fair point I hadn't considered.

I love spurs and want us to win but watching this match makes me want to punch myself in the face. I kinda understand

Well they're gonna want to get better at big pitches for next season if that's the case!

Not a bad result for us this, would be helpful if the league was secured for Chelsea before we face Spurs.

Not that I think we'll get top 4, but still.

And they're moving to Wembley

I'll admit it could have been easily deemed a foul, I'm under p here dude! You know how it is

It's an awkward position for Spurs. You've had a cracking season, but sort of not really in a title race, but sort of are. A strange position to be in.

Keepers tend to get a little bit more license, so i'd have been more surprised to see that as a red than not to be honest. Especially as it was a little touch, and was an awkward angle, rather than just monstering out 2 footed.

If Chelsea beat 'Boro on Monday and we take something off Spurs next weekend then that's Chelsea officially champions isn't it?

Heh. Worst I've seen you in awhile tbf. Don't think it bodes too well as we enter crunch time but taking something from this would be a bit of a statement.

Spurs have struggled immensely with the narrow size of the pitch at the Olympic Stadium. I saw the same thing when United played West Ham and won 2-1. There is literally no distance between the sidelines and the box, it's easier for the defending team that's for sure - and West Ham are of course used to it. Spurs are good at switching sides and hauling down the lines with their full backs, but at this stadium it is too compact. Death to these kinds of stadiums please!

Well well, Spurs are out of the title race which they were really never a part of, just like last season. Some (ehm) fans of that club expect a linear progression for both the club and their players, but it's not that easy. Playing at a new stadium next year will screw them over - I wonder how long until Bayern München comes sniffing for Pochettino. Another season without a trophy, for both Spurs and Liverpool - at least there is something to be chipper about.

We are playing West Brom next friday also. If Spurs lose and we win both our games we will be champions.

We never really part of a title race? If we had won tonight the gap was 1 point. I'd say that's a title race.
