Of course there is no new phase, but you are one step ahead of the defender, which means the passer has a clean path to reach you, and you can focus on the finish while the defender tries to distract you from behind. It´s a small, but very significant advantage for any good striker.

Classical Gomes brainfart. He's one of the most stupid keepers in the game. Can be a genius one minute and completely cock things up the next.
 
I always thought Gomes was the worst GK in the league. I don't think he's even Championship level at times, quite shocking Watford never replaced him.
