Preston v Man Utd

difficult to judge on this performance but I think of the players who started today Evans, Bardsley, Gibson, Martin, Richardson and Rossi have a chance. The rest are not United class. Ole, bless him, has gone as a top class striker.

Eagles, once again, has been rancid.

is there any point in this game?
Its only the reserves

Personally I can watch United at any level with great interest. These are the United players on tomorrow. It also proves to me again that if you play Fletcher in his best position he can be very effective.

yeah but shouldn't this be classed as the Man Utd reserves, not the proper team

I agree Richio...there were times the season before last when the reserves and youth teams played much better than the first team and were more enjoyable to watch.

I think Fletcher gets too much undeserved flack from the fans. He has the ability to be a first-teamer, but I think his confidence is easily deflated. I don't think Fergie putting him on the right side has helped him either.

I think today was a poor performance from almost everyone, but you can't make a judgement on these young lads based on a preseason game (even Rossi looked particularly poor, very poor first touch today).

Still, I do think the future is bright with these kids. I subscribed to MUTV Online so that I could get to watch the reserves and academy teams a lot this season. Looking forward to seeing the youngsters shine.

ole gets the post.

He's still got the instinct.

Hard to judge otherwise, because the midfield was ineffectual and provided no service.

I dont expect everyone to be interested in watching the junior sides but I love the club from top to bottom and want to keep an eye on the stars of the future.

You are dead right about Fletcher as well. Put him on the right and he is useless simply because he doesnt have the attributes to play there. he cant beat a man and has no pace. Play him as a deep lying playmaker though and he can be elegant and effective. His disribution and passing is excellent and he can play well in tight spaces. He is very much like Carrick in a lot of ways. It will be interesting to see what formation we play next season because he could be a valuable alternative.

That's what I've always thought, that we have our very own Carrick who cost us nothing. That's why I don't understand paying over the odds for him. I cna understand going after a different type of player, but Flecth is exactly like Carrick, excellent passer of the ball, but no pace and not much of a tackler. I just think Fletcher might not get a chance to develop further with Carrick here now. Having said that, the amount of crap Fletcher gets every game from our own fans, maybe he will never be given the chance here and may have to develop elsewhere. Shame really.

Poor performance from nearly everyone.Nice to see Ole get through 90mins and towards the end show some of his old instincts in front of goal.On to Maccelsfield where some of the big guns will be back.

fleatcher can be an excellent backup to scholes and carrick. has excellent passing and vision just needs to be used sparingly this season to bring his confidence up and get him away from the boo boys.

much greater potential then richardson who really is a headless chicken.

Right, just watched the second half.

We weren't great. Defenders in particular were a bit shite; Nugent made an arse out of each one of them in turn, by doing little more than trying harder than them, which is dissapointing.

Good to see Ole get a full game though. Fantastic effort off the bar at the end too.
Fletcher was very good again

There's only one solution for that mate, sign him up
