QPR vs. Manchester United

Play our strongest side and hopefully batter them, it'd serve them right for those 2 minutes if they end up going down on goal difference.

Definitely think this match will be harder than people think. They've managed to beat Chelsea and draw with Tottenham and City in recent months. If we aren't fully up to this I can see it ending in a draw.

On QPR, I can't believe we've been linked to Taarabt.. Surely he's not United quality:confused:

I'm predicting us to win 1-0 with RVP scoring a late winner.

QPR have not conceded as much since 'Arry took over. He is doing something right in that regard. Its just that they are struggling to score and as a result they are not able to win games. But at home, they are going to be more dangerous so we have to play our strongest team and bring our A game.

To be fair, we can't afford to drop points, a win here could see us move another 3 points clean but they are a team fighting for something, much harder to play them now, but, we should still have more than enough to get the job done and I am confident.

Really?,Fifteen points would be nice ,but a draw or even a loss will not be the end of the world.

Sorry but Jaybezia has a point here.Last year we dropped points towards the end, and as many our saying we need to have a winning mentality for every game. Sure, not winning every game isn't that bad, but we should be of the mentality that a win simply is the best option now.
Plenty of time to get a bit more relaxed results wise as the season comes to an end. Right now getting as much points as possible is the most important thing if you ask me.

I understand, and i feel the team is focused enough to get a win,but if those two scenarios happen,it will not be the end of the world and i can not see us going into meltdown.

Wow, clearly the lessons of last year have been forgotten eh?

Last year, throwing the points away to Everton was ok, because we'd beat Wigan right?
Losing to Wigan, at least we'd still be alright as long as we didn't lose to City?

No room for complacency. It didn;t take long to get the lead to 12, so it won't take long for it to fall to 6 and below, and the danger zone.

Smash QPR with the best lineup, and see how City fare at 15 points behind and having to play Chelsea.

It would not be the end of the world but it might put unwanted pressure on us. We need to get win every 3 points that are available because the first two and a half weeks of next month are tight in that we will be playing in three different competitions and if we beat Madrid then the schedule might be even more congested with two extra games. So its important for us to put this league to bed as soon as possible so in case we make it to the later rounds of the Champions League we dont have to worry about making mistakes or City being right on our ass.

We should beat these I think. They have little or no goal threat at the moment, and if they want to have one, they'll need to be a bit less defensively solid. Samba has looked off the pace so far too, and Fabio cannot play.

While they are at the bottom of the league they have drew with City and Tottenham recently while beating Chelsea away, I think this will be a tough game to be honest it's seems like they are up for the big games.

Fergie will go with first team there and at a full pelt. He knows he will rotate massively against Norwich so this game is in a way a must win. I'm positive we'll beat them and probably comprehensively at that.

After City and Sunderland, QPR's the third team I want us to totally batter this season. Especially because of their behaviour after the title was won last May and how they celebrated with a couple of City players.

Not going to be easy at all. They're going to fight for their lives and don't they have Samba, now? They'll just use the tactic Blackburn did, for every set piece he'll be up against DDG and make a terrible nuisance.
This one is going to be slippery, yes.

3 points please however they come. Really twist the knife on City.

Something about this one is making me nervous.

It has been making me nervous since I noticed it the time the 'our remaining games vs city's' threads came up .. If we win and go 15 clear it'll be a massive psychological weight on City come their game against Chelsea. If we don't get three points, however, it'll give them a big boost.

We will need to show some good quality if we are to beat QPR at their place.

As well as Evans-Rio have done, Vidic is still our best defender when it comes to dealing with crosses and he has to play in this game imo.

yep, although they did give a good effort until about the 85th min, they definitely eased off after.

It was a bloody disgrace how they just booted it downfield at 3-2 down from kick off.

Helping to relegate them will be great.

I hope we don't underestimate QPR. They've had a lot of time to rest and teams at the bottom fighting against relegation are usually really difficult to play against.

We should play as close to full strength as possible, go for it, and keep the 12-point advantage (or more if City mess up, though I doubt it).

Not having played in a while can also have effect of having any momentum and rhythm get knocked.

For those saying Vida should play, do they usually lump a lot of balls in? I don't expect QPR to put us under a lot of pressure with either aerial bombardment or where Vida will be throwing his body in the way of shots.

I expect they will go defensive and we will need the likes of Evans and Rio who can get forward instead of Vida.

Evans and Rio don't fill me with confidence when they play together. I can't quite put my finger on it, I think we'd be better off with Vidic/Rio or Vidic/Evans. We look more assured, imo at least, with Vidic playing. QPR will definitely go defensive seeing they're in the midst of a relegation scrap. I think this will be a much trickier match than most think. Paul Parker was saying on manutd.com how Loftus Road is really narrow which makes it much easier to defend, and as such wide players struggle- which is the opposite of what we've got at OT where the pitch is huge and wide. Mind you, they are sitting bottom of the league, and we have the best strike pairing in the league, I'm confident we can score.

Never understand this "Big pitch", "small pitch business.

We're talking a couple of yards wider! Not 100metres wider!

Yeah you'd think it's more to do with the slope/distance of the stands which makes a pitch feel bigger/smaller to the players. I mean Roma must feel huge whilst Anfield must feel pretty tight with the scouse crowd right on top of you.

Yeah point taken, but Paul Parker has played a lot at both grounds and if he says it makes a difference then I guess it does. Maybe its something that you don't really notice as a spectator but becomes more obvious when your actually out there running around. Gary Neville whilst commentating has mentioned how big OT's pitch is and how works to the advantage of our wingers.

Boss: We'll treat QPR like Real

Sir Alex Ferguson insists he will take the trip to QPR just as seriously as the Champions League ties with Real Madrid.

The manager locks horns with old adversary Harry Redknapp again at Loftus Road with the West Londoners battling to avoid relegation.

United can stretch the lead at the Barclays Premier League to 15 points with Manchester City not in action until Sunday and the challenge is there for the Reds to maintain the title push and erase the memories of last season's final-day agony.

"With Harry's experience and his ability to judge players, he will have a better chance that most in that situation [battling to avoid relegation]," Sir Alex stated at his pre-match press conference. "We're going down there to win, though. That's what our job is. There is an absolutely brilliant spirit in the place at the moment and a good determination about us. We have to treat these games as we would Real Madrid or anyone else. It has to be won. We want to win.

"We have a problem picking teams at the moment but that's where we want to be. QPR are fighting for survival and we know it is going to be a hard game. That is what we need anyway. We need to keep the awareness on making sure we do our job right."

Sir Alex remains convinced that points will inevitably be dropped during the run-in and is refusing to get carried away with the gap at the top.

Although the situation looks healthy for the Reds, there are plenty of tough tests ahead and QPR have already proved their steel by taking points off City, Tottenham and Chelsea since Redknapp's arrival.

"My experience of being in this situation is that teams drop points," he explained. "That's a fact. It's unavoidable. It's a tough league. At the moment we have good momentum. The only thing we can do is try to win our next match and see where it takes us.

"The fact is, City will drop points too. That's where we are, coming into the run-in. We expect to drop a few points but so will they. To be honest, it's always a hard run-in in the Premier League. With the right attitude and the right players, we have a chance."

Sorry if that's already been posted. Positive words I like to see.

Players keep going on about it so it must make a difference. I assume, at that level, the smallest of margins can make all the difference.

I'd start Van Persie and Hernandez we did that a couple of times over Christmas against Newcastle and at Wigan and scored 4 times in both games. This is a must win. We need goals in the team.

I'd play Hernandez over Welbeck because of the simple fact that Hernandez scores goals and QPR have been difficult to score against for teams off late.
