Quality players from Europe...

Amauri - Has been a bargain buy for Juve

Sneaky player. He didn't have that great a match against Chelsea last Wednesday overall, but he still showed flashes of ability to make something out of nothing. Quite a bit of talent in him.

Gokhan Inler and Eren Derdiyok are both good shouts as well.

Juan Albin from Getafe looks like he could be a great player. French central defender or left back Mamadou Sakho is one for the future he captained PSG at 17 reminds me of a young Thuram and Hoarau of PSG is having a great season. Obasi from Hoffenheim looks good aswell.

Grafite for Wolfsburg's been making a bit of a name for himself this season, with 14 goals in 13 appearances in the league and 18 goals in 15 games in all competitions.

Just scored 2 against Hamburg at the weekend there.

Quite impressive.
I'm currently watching Wolfsburg vs. Schalke, he scored another penalty (now 22 goals in 21 appearances in all club competitions) and his striking partner Edin Dzeko (22-year old Bosnian, top-class player) added his 23rd of the season (in all competitions in 32 games) just before half-time (scored from a cross of Grafite). They are well and truly the best striking partnership in the Bundesliga, very impressive indeed.
At the moment Wolfsburg are just one point off the top if they win the game today... even though they have loads of money to compete them winning the Bundesliga would be like Everton or (this season's) City coming out on top in the Premier League. Magath has done wonders there and they play some very decent football as well.

Just about to post this now as well, Edin Dzeko must surely make a move to a big club next summer, quality young striker. Him and Grafite have been instrumental in Wolfsburg's home record in the Bundesliga this year.

Westermann also scored a great volley in the first half for Schalke, I rate him highly as well, very versatile. Incidentally, as I write this he's been subbed off injured.

Schalke are an enigma to me, they're capable of playing good football and have a good mixture of youngsters (Rafinha, Westermann, Rakitic, Jones, Farfan) and experienced professionals (Kuranyi, Sanchez, Bordon). Just don't get the results to back it up.

Agreed, Westermann is a very good player. Schalke's John O'Shea in fact, he can play both full-back positions, centre-back, central midfield and even attacking midfield. He was ill today, that's why he was subbed at half-time.

Grafite, Dzeko and Misimovic have been magic so far this season... some stats:
Grafite: 21 appearances, 24 goals, 6 assists
Dzeko: 32 apperances, 23 goals, 10 assists
Misimovic: 34 appearances, 10 goals, 21 assists

Not as good as Messi/Eto'o/Henry, but still quite amazing.

I see the comparison with O'shea but he's better on the ball than Big John to be fair.

And yes, Misimovic was probably the best player on the field today.

Baumjohann was quite impressive on Friday, as were Monchengladbach in general I think, even though they lost.

Marko Marin definitely looks he's going to be a real player, just has that touch of class as well as being an exciting player to watch. His delivery was pretty woeful on Friday though.

Nene, the top scorer in the Bwin Liga, is getting linked with Hamburg, Villa and Lyon.

Pretty much came out of nowhere, from a second division side in Brazil iirc, and has done very well with Nacional in his first season there.

Probably just a one season wonder though, and he's not meant to have much more to his game than just finishing ability.

Can't see why Villa would need another striker, with Carew, Agbonlahor and Heskey already there, unless they want to replace their fourth choice strike in Harewood with someone cheap.

Would do better at Hamburg or Lyon I reckon, with Fred already gone from Lyon and there not being a lot of back-up for Benzema - with Ederson, an attacking midfielder, most recently brought in to replace him as the only striker(and scored a very nice goal to be fair to him) - and Olic leaving Hamburg and there not being much back-up for Petric and Guererro, who's stepped it up in the last couple of weeks and looks like he'll soften the blow of Olic leaving considerably.

Fernandinho (23), Brazilian creative midfield passer, player of the year last year at Shakhtar Donetsk and player of the year in the Ukraine. Impressed me this season in the uefa cup. Wouldnt surprise me if he went to a big club this summer or the next.

Miloš Krasić (24), Serbian winger/attacking midfielder. Good passer and some good technical ability.

Shinji Kagawa anyone? 4 goals and 1 assist in 7 league appearances so far, in his debut season. Watching him for the first time for Dortmund v Cologne now and has looked very impressive to me. Typically tidy on the ball but he's shown a penetrative side to his game that's created the first goal and set up another sitter.

Could be one to watch out for.

I've been following Dortmund this season and yeah, he's been quite impressive. Plays behind the lone striker (Barrios) and is a very quick, technical and direct player.

I read an excellent article on him last week Uli Hesse: Kagawa provides reminder of Eastern promise - Europe - ESPN Soccernet

Seems an interesting player.

Cavenaghi's hardly the most exciting player, but you can't deny he's effective. Scoring scrappy goals isn't great to watch, but it's an asset any team can use.

I quite like Gignac, he's a nippy little player and does plenty more than scoring.

Matuidi's goal at the weekend was brilliant, don't you think?

First this guy says he only watches the three quality leagues and doesn't bother with the rest. he then comments on the numerous French players playing in the French league and then calls Gignac a nippy little player..........

Yeah, was watching that. Very impressive player. Great story the way Dortmund plucked him from basically nowhere: Shinji Kagawa, the jewel in Borussia Dortmund's crown | Raphael Honigstein | Football | guardian.co.uk

Of course if United bought him there would be uproar on the Caf about United being reduced to buying a Japanese player. But the boy looks a real talent.

He talks shite and slags other people off for the same thing, he's a sad cnut who might know about onions but he never kicked a ball in his life.

You don't agree that he accuses people of pretending to know about players from football manager etc? Acting both high and mighty dispite being like 19 and spending his time posting on a good few forums 24/7 and apparently watching the Spanish, English, German, Dutch, Portugese and of course French league. Where would one find the time:rolleyes:.

Eh, it's called lost in translation, if I remember correctly Brwned is from the north now luckily I happen to live with two people from Monaghan (technically not the part of the North but they have the accent) and if I'm not mistaken he doesn't mean 'little' in stature. It's just a saying.

Lost in translation? Are you taking the piss? Can you see my location? Im from Ireland. I know Northern Irish people too seeing as I go to college in Galway and there's a rake of them here too, some of them friends. Little means little. Nippy means nippy.

Nippy can mean many things and in relation to Gignac maybe Brwned was trying to get across that he is busy? Which is probably a little more apt. On the little issue you are wrong I even use that. How many times have you heard a person from the north use the word 'wee' or 'little' when not referring to the actual stature of the object? All the time.

This is true.

Not even sure the point of the word little in the context, but I throw it in plenty of sentences regardless! Just sounds right. And he does have nippy feet for a big man, his first move from a standing start is unusually agile and he takes advantage of that with a surprisingly soft touch. I could've qualified that by saying 'he's got a good touch for a big man' but he's 6'1 and far from slightly built...it's a bit redundant to point it out no?!

Or at least he did two(?) years ago when he was flying high. I don't think I watched him once last season, but one quick comparison of the two seasons is quite eye-opening: 24 goals in 160 shots in 08/09, 8 goals in 149 shots in 09/10. Is there much excitement about him at Marseillle kouroux?

Still, that particular bit aside United87 has a point and when I read this thread over again I reckon I looked a bit desperate to show how much I knew about football...sad. I've said that to him already, though, so it's ironic how desperate he is to bring this up whenever he can...

Eh? You never said you were desperate to show how much you knew about footabll to me that's why I always bring it up, because your constant contradictions, and you never did answer the question... how come you slagged people off about watching medicore leagues specifically Ligue 1 and the Dutch league and then continue to give critiques on players in those leagues.

Hehe. I slagged people off for watching other leagues? Are you fecking kidding me?

I dunno, I guess I'm a sycophant? And a hypocrite? And every other name under the sun, probably. Time to give it a rest eh lad?

So lad, you have no answer or logical reason? Ok that's all I wanted to know pet.

Gignac is very physical and yes Matuidi's goal was a beauty (i think his stronger foot is the right)

He's physical but that's not what I mean, for someone so tall he's very quick and adept with his feet.

Spot on then

You've got a fan there brwned it seems
