Question Time & This Week

Is access the same as membership? And did Remain say that Leave intended to take us out of the single market?

But Remain was Project Fear, not worth listening to on things like this, especially when the message from Leave wasn't the same.

Not his own, presumably.

It was a bit weird that he spoke about the richest 1% without mentioning that he's presumably well within the top 0.1%

Having said that I don't wish to criticise a rich person for advocating redistribution simply because they are themselves rich and benefiting from the current paradigm. One can be critical of a system whilst acting in accordance with it. I'm not a great believer in individual action causing systemic change.

Grayling talks about reducing immigration while failing to note that his own leader has had control over non-EU migration for years and did nothing to meet their self-imposed targets. Hypocrisy.

It still amazes me that Piers Morgan has a career after the phone hacking and hoax photo scandals.

It also amazes me that he spent years preaching on gun control in America, yet was more than happy to back Trump and his party of gun-freaks.

The Labour MP is coming across well tbf.

She's been alright but that moment where she said 'I haven't spoken to the transport secretary' on his plan to vote against Brexit kind of sums up the party in the past year. Does anyone within Labour talk to anyone else? Are they all fecking mime artists at this point?

Business secretary wasn't it? Aye, party divided. She had a scowl too.

Ah yeah, might have been. Tbh by the time I've typed out this post the transport secretary probably will be the business secretary. So maybe I'll be right soon.

Still going on about Brexit. I swear Question Time has either led with Brexit, or had it as its second leading theme, for the last year. With the Chilcot edition being the exception.

Thornberry is relatively good for a Labour shadow minister. Competency. If Labour ever get into government, she'll be occupying a front bench position (and not under Corbyn, barring some miraculous Marxist awakening).

Pretty much. 20 mins in and we've just moved onto Boris Johnson. With the first person talking about his relationship with the EU...thus linking back to Brexit, again.

I reckon something like the situation with the NHS is just as important at the moment, what with the crises etc.

Dull in a way, but odd to avoid the topic I guess. Does obviously get repetitious though.
Morgan is one of the few that unites the left and right through shared hatred.

This show is unwatchable these days. Makes me despise humanity.

Piers Morgan, would not save him from killer ants.

The weird thing is that there's a lot of stuff I'll probably agree with him on politically, but then he'll say something incredibly annoying or condescending which reminds you why he's such an arsehole.

The irony is that the prevailing narrative (from both sides!) is "let's get on with it". Well, getting on with it consists of dealing with other, perhaps more pertinent, matters relating to the condition of the state. The NHS, the strikes, zero hour contracts, living wage, etc. These are the things that the state broadcaster should be highlighting.

We don't need an hour's debate on every single little detail relating to the ongoing Brexit negotiations. Other topics are being severely undermined.

Shows everything about Morgan as a journo that he considers omitting a part of a sentence legitimate even if it changes the meaning.

Stephen Fry just edges P.E. after his redefining of 'countryside' to 'to kill Piers Morgan'.

It's a remarkable talent he has. Despised across the whole spectrum. If someone could define that quality (general underlying cuntishness?) and develop its antithesis, they'd corner the market on self help.

He actually makes me take opposing views even if I previously agreed, he's just a vile human that I hate sharing views with.

Yeah, as I said above his position on Trump's one of the biggest: years of calling for stricter gun control (and an outright ban) but as soon as his mate is running for White House under the banner of a party who cream themselves to the mere thought of the second amendment, Piers abandon's his previous views and jumps onboard. Moron.

The UK's social cohesion might be a good place to start- the divide between the remainers/Brexiteers, London/the rest etc...is immense. No idea how you fix it. The whole nation is fractured beyond belief.

Morgan fails to note that America's over-compensated NATO spending has suited them by giving them immense military clout and power over Europe.

Ah, acting as an actual spokesman eh Piers. BBC needs to actually clarify that in future.

London is a country unto itself. The divide has grown exponentially for decades. The north is lagging behind economically, and it's a cause of enormous resentment. So, when London votes to remain in the EU, the north, and other similarly disenfranchised regions, vote to leave. It had little to do with logic, less to do with Europe, and immigration was only ever a proxy.

Quite simply, it was those who have been left behind choosing to vote against the status quo in order to say "feck you" and have their voices heard. Same exact reason Trump was elected. Depressed regions kicking the establishment in the balls (the coastal establishment of America, the London-centrism of Britain).
