Question Time & This Week

Pretty much all major financial institutions have said leaving is a bad idea but it's OK because some bloke who did some maths on the back of an envelope tells us it's gonna be fine, give him a job at the treasury :wenger:

That remark was tongue in cheek, you know that.

But what sort of record do these major financial institutions have though? Wrong on the Euro, wrong on the financial crisis, many of them at fault with regard to Greece e.t.c. Likely, they approve fo TPP and TTIP too, irrespective of the consequences for the citizen.

Wrong on the Euro? Almost all UK institutions came out against joining in the end, and they were right of course, not wrong.
Calling TPP and TTIP a failure for the average citizen is at this stage maybe just a little premature, although bringing up unknowns and unproveables is par for your cause.

I wasn't actually referring to the Euro from a purely British perspective, rather the implementation of currency union more broadly and varying motivations at play. And were you to take the time look,m you would see that there is some information out there about TTIP.

But if you'd rather fire off a few unguided quips...enjoy your hobby.

Now now Nick, you make a post and it's there for dissection, that's the nature of a forum.
I enjoy reading your stuff, no offence intended.

If you understand TTIP fair enough, you're a better man than me.

Discussion of Hillsborough at the moment. Burnham getting quite emotional on it, guy has done a lot of good work and clearly cares. Good on him.

The bloke behind has an odd skinny-necked goitre.

Thanks for bringing us all the news that really matters, Jippz.

Bet your ears are still ringing from the Motorhead gig, chief.

Does seem to be the Paul and Amber show.

Tim Farron is trying ever so hard to remind people that he exists. Don't think I've seen a panelist go so long into an episode without actually speaking.

On the topic of racism and immigration concerns: We have become a country where people are more worried about being called a racist than considering whether they actually hold racist views.

Prejudice against the 'other' and, yes, racism are at the core of much of the concern about immigration. I don't think there would be anything like the concern if the numbers arriving where overwhelmingly made up of Americans, Canadians, Australians or even French and Germans.

Basically no one likes to be called out for being racist even when they actually are.

Can't believe the junior doctors' strike is still an issue. Just fecking pay them the increase in wages.

True, but the flipside is that some dismissively condemn concerns about immigration as immediately racist.

Pressures on housing and infrastructure have sod all to do with the country of origin though. Nor is it likely that migrants from those countries would be seen as an easily exploitable resource by big business (resulting in wage depression and poor conditions), as is the case with eastern Europeans.

And they were both wrong. The first blacks in Toxteth were neither ex-slaves nor from the Windrush era, they were seamen and traders from the century inbetween.
Yeah but do you think there are too many blacks in Toxteth?
Thought the Ukip guy answered well, against the odds.

Am watching it on delay after showering. Andrew Neil goading him into a 9/11 rant...
You could sense Icke wanted to come off as somewhat reasonable (talking about legitimate political issues). But it went downhill very quickly when the lizards and 9/11 were brought up.
