He plays LB, and came to OT with more acclaim, however it is yet to be seen on the big time as he has been injured for a while

left back...... will be hard pressed to diplace paddy I think........

Yes, I'm sure he played in the second half or final 30 minutes.

Yeah he came on at half time.

Was alright, wasn't half as impressive as Rafael to be honest.

You have to keep in mind that Rafael was playing with the majority of the first team stars in the first half where as we made quite a few changes in the second half which meant we weren't as dominant and thus Fabio didn't see much of the ball despite running back and forth down the flank like a maniac.

Saf said in his press conference that fabio is back in full training but wont be played until january. it wouldve been nice to see him get some mins in japan at least. scholes will play alot in japan for fitness and will get 30-35 mins tomorrow.

Lads we can't compare Rafael and Fabio due to one friendly that they played in together.

By all accounts, Fabio is as good as Rafael if not better. They both will be class for us for the next 10-15 years.

From what I saw of them in that youth tournament Fabio is the more exciting player and scores more goals, but Rafael is more reliable defensively.

Rafael has also proven himself at first team level, Fabio hasn´t so we can´t really judge him. I´m looking forward to seeing him play though.

Fabios not travelling with the squad to Japan is he? Thats a shame, although as long as he plays some reserve games and gets his match fitness up then it shouldn't be too much of a disaster.

We should see cameo roles of Fabio in the 2nd half of the season :)

Fabio will probably get his debut in one of the three cup games in January. Can't wait to see what he's about at this level

bit premature, username type

I did hear Fabio was supposed to be well better with a better underage record than Rafael. If he has anywhere near the same balls as his brother he'll stand a chance. I'd wait untill he plays premier league football till I cast any judgement.

Bear in mind, he'd be doing well to have any fitness, considering he hasn't played first team football in months.

Fabio is right footed, isn't he?
Anyone familiar with how he normally attacks down the left flank? Can he cross a decent ball with his left foot or does he prefer cutting inside?

Disappointing. :( But Fabio has been out for a long time and will need much more training before he gets up to speed. He has had a delayed start to his Manchester United career but we did buy him with the future in mind. From January onwards we should hope to see him making a big impression with the club.

He cuts inside all the time, it's why he scores so many because his shooting for a full back is unreal. He's basically very similar to how Lahm plays as a right footed left back if you are familiar with him. I don't think his crossing with his left is up to much because I've never seen him do it but like Rafael he's absolutely lightening quick and does the Nani think of a quick burst of pace and then cut back to cross with his right.

Thanks mate!
That sounds bloody fantastic! Exciting times are ahead!

If you listen to the World Football Phone In podcast from the BBC, then you'd hear Vickery basically give a short description of Fabio and how he can't tell if the player is right footed or left footed as he is so equally good with both.

I'd heard that he was equally capable with both too. Apparently he worked on his left foot to switch to left back so him and bro could play in the same team together.

That's typical Vickery bollocks. Anyone who has watched Fabio play and genuinely can't tell that he is right footed when that's the foot he uses to control, pass and shoot with has pretty severe mental health problems.

Roll on January.

Fabio will be top scorer this season

Lets just hope he doesn't defend like him! :nervous:

Very true.

Decent on his left but a clear right footer playing at left back.

Like me :D

Didn't have the best of games today.

Should be kept out of the firing line until after the Chelsea match I reckon.

I know he doesn't have the sort of attitude to let his head drop after a bad performance but two or three bad performances in a row can be very difficult to take when you're young at United.

I hope he sticks more to his flank because at times he was getting in midfield with his runs and he lost the ball in an important position which lead to a boro player crossing the ball.

Was just about to post similar.

Kept cutting inside today... to be fair he does it a lot, as he's eager to get the ball.

Went toWest Ham game and he was all over the field trying to win the ball :)

Made a cracking ball to Rooney today on the edge of the box.

It'll come with experience for sure, he seems so comfortable with the ball. If he's under pressure, he won't just shoot the ball away ,he'll look for a clever solution.

He was fine, quiet going forward and decent enough in defence. Boro were targeting their goal kicks and clearances at him and he won pretty much every header which I thought was very promising, also tracked Tuncay very well for the headed chance he had

I agree, he did alright today.
