Rangers FC vs. Manchester United

Rangers players dropping like flies. Bougherra, Papac and Lafferty now all set to miss out. Rumours are that Kyle Hutton is set to start. The team then will virtually pick itself with the conundrum being where McCulloch lines up. He could either be brought into the defence to make the 5 or kept in midfield to add a bit of steel. I've a hunch it could be the latter.

McGregor

Foster Weir Broadfoot Whittaker

Hutton McCulloch

Weiss Davis Naismith

@stevenwyeth: #rangers striker Kyle Lafferty out of tonight's match v #mufc. Has broken a bone in his hand in an "accident" this morning

Damn. I was ready to watch the game today, but just got a call from one of my biggest clients. They're having a Thanksgiving party and invited me. They give me a lot of work, so I couldn't turn down their offer. Guess I'll be keeping up with the match via Fotmob.

van der Sar, Brown, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Scholes, Park, Rooney, Berbatov.

Would love to see that.

Brown getting the nod over Rafael for his experience and Park starting with Giggs on the bench.

I no longer want this to happen.

Rafael is our no.1 right back, and unless he is injured or being rested, he should start...He has played some real tough matches and come through without too much trouble.

No more protection, let him play. Plus when he has played, Wes hasn't exactly set the world on fire...

Last match he played he was too busy setting our own defense on fire :nervous:

Rangers need three points. If Rangers score first, their formation will immediately turn into (approximately speaking) 10-0-0. That will not be interesting in the slightest.

If United score first, Rangers basically have to go hell-for-leather to try and score two goals somehow. That will be interesting.

Exactly.

Early word is #mufc team: VDS; O'Shea, Smalling, Evans, Evra; Nani, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs; Berbatov, Rooney

I was going to say  Three at the back, what planet is he on?

Great - an Arsenal fan who I'm sure watched the full 90 minutes in each of our home games.

We played 5-4-1 against United at Old Trafford - we'll probably do the same again tonight. I didn't see the match in the Mestalla so I can't comment on that game. At home to Bursaspor and Valencia, it was a 3-5-1-1. We played with wing-backs who were frequently our furthest forward players (see Broadfoot's assist for Naismith's goal, Foster's open goal miss, etc). How we managed to do that whilst conceding the majority of the possession in both games (43% and 38%) would not have been possible playing with a back 5.

Giggsy  (his 848th game).

Our midfield and Berbatov with Rooney should cope with Rangers 5-4-1, there's no doubt about that. I also feel more safe when I see in our line-up players able to score, so our back four don't really make me nervous.

Let's show Rangers why you shouldn't play 5-4-1 at home. Let's smash them!
