His demeanour on the pitch has been of someone convinced by his own yes men that he has three bollocks for quite a while now. The humble facade is slipping too with the barely disguised ‘don’t you know who I am?’ undertones to his various PR essays and leaked stories to mouthpiece journalists.

Meanwhile fans still indulge in this bizarre munchausen by proxy game where everything from new injuries, invented love life problems and make-believe mental health issues are diagnosed to excuse nearly two years of looking awful.

I agree. It’s a shame I do think it’s partly his back injury and maybe more mental health.

Rashford could get a transfer and I would like to one of the Bayern wingers come in as they have a few right now. Gnabry perhaps as we need a quality right winger.

God knows who we will bring in as a striker in the summer. I’ve stopped counting Cavani, Martial and Greenwood. Perhaps add Ronaldo to this list too in the coming months.

Jao Felix from Athletico looked like a special player against us. I would happily swap those 3 and Rashford for him but knowing our luck we will end up with a nearly 40 yo Suarez instead

Why do the press love to cause trouble at our club and make a lot of stuff up? Are there leaks coming out or something… you never seen anything about city and Liverpool players falling out and stuff. Or is it just because we’re awful? If we was winning and fighting for trophies then nothing bad would get reported about us. But even the players have come out and said they like to make stuff up, so why are they doing it with no info!
 
If true, it's ironic if he can't see the benefits here.

- Has been played into the ground. Good amount of rest now
- The fans love him
- Healthy competition
- Ronaldo and Cavani likely gone soon, plenty of game time if you're good enough
- Earns a shitton of money here
 
All the better that he gets a reality check when he puts himself in the shop window to squeeze us for both a new contract and playing time.
 
I view Rashford as nothing more than a 30-40m player but I am sure someone else would be stupid enough to pay 60-70m (psg?)…. Anything around and above 50m, just snatch it!!
Rashford game just relies on pace, his decision making and passing is horrible for someone playing for a top team.

And worse, his character on that football pitch!! Mate, he doesn’t deserve tbe 200k a week simply because of behaving like a sad soul on thepitch.

He can and should be sold to give a strong message to the rest of tbe group…and I am sure he is one of the players leaking information…

well obviously you all think he should leave, have no talent and certainly never deserved to play for United. From what I understand, it is all he wanted to hear from the club. They should tell him the same, put a price tag of 30m (from what I can see, you expect that kind of money) and sell him. So, all is good.
 
Like so many other Utd players he is not hungry to win or score. Huge team ethic problem at Utd. Too many players drop the shoulders.

Sometimes player just needs a new environment, a new challenge, new motivation and get out from the comfort zone. It may be good for him. Rashford will be 25 soon. No longer a young player with "potential" anymore.

His attitude stinks, and unless something drastically changes very quickly with him, then I will be happy for him to move on at the end of this season.
 
He runs fast and kicks the ball hard when he shoots - he also likes to run into a defender attempt a trick and give the ball away in the process.

I don't think him leaving would make all that difference one way or another - he has been terrible for about 15 months at this stage.
 
not sure how much you can read into this story but Rashford would need to work harder to get a place

Elanga and Sancho have been much better

It saddens me to say it but it's like he's fallen out of love with football. Maybe off field activities are now his main focus in life and football is secondary?

Still cheeky to agitate for a move due to lacking of game time when his form is beyond the point of diabolical.

I have 0 issues with him and Pogba leaving on a free, it ain't my business. My business as a fan is only what happens on the field. I'm not in the "oh but we don't have money to spend" camp, I have more important things to think about than fecking Man United having 1-2 players leaving on a free.

Also I don't really care if he will tear it up anywhere else, I only care for him to leave and I'm not even talking about football here. As a local lad he should set an example for the others, put his head down and put the effort in.
At the moment, he's not playing shit, he's not putting the effort in and he's leaking to the press that he wants to leave(probably leaking some other stuff too). This is not how a "local boy" should behave.
I think the off the field stuff (charity + that girlfriend thingy) got to him and he quickly thought "that's it, I made it".

The club will fold like a cheap deck chair and probably offer him even more undeserved money. I’m sure we might even see him start on the weekend.

The sorry state of affairs with the people running this club(I don’t think much will change at all with Ed gone), I believe that they believe this club needs Rashford more than he needs the club.

This is what we are, a club more concerned with it’s assets and off field profile than anything else. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

They would be gone at any of those clubs. Pep and Klopp would have none of it.

The problem is as I see it (I could be wrong), the rot is set too deep. Half the squad now needs to be gone and replaced with fresh players for a half decent manager to stem the toxicity and stand any chance against the big boys in the league. We have seen it too often, new players come in all positive with a fire in their belly, 1 or 2 seasons later, they are part of the problem and the cycle continues. There is way too much do-what-you-want, self-preservation, me-me-me, instagram, bling culture at the club and not enough serious professional athlete work ethic, unity and team spirit.

The new manager, whomever that is needs to grab the dressing room by the scruff of the neck and take no shit. This will probably involve a lot of sulking, media leaks and downing of tools. I think it will get worse before it gets better. A massive clear out needed. Player power needs culling as its destroying our club and any sense of unity.
 
If you over a period doesn't perform, you have to accept a period on the bench. Elanga has done well, Rashford hasn't really hit form this season.
Grow up, work hard, improve and show through training, attitude and performances that you deserve to get back in the starting line up.

This attitude is like a baby..

I totally agree. There are players that will literally leave a club if they don't get the playing time that they think they deserve. How is that in the spirit of a team game?
 
The first thing the club should do after this season finishes to sell this knob.

If he’s really leaked this via his media team - which seems likely - then it’s a worse own goal than any he could have scored on the pitch. And I think he may well find this out sooner rather than later. I picture United two down on Saturday, he comes on, runs down a blind alley, then gives up. At that point you’ll definitely see match going fans turning. I’ll be one of them!

Outside United fans no one saw him as a top player. He has talent, flair, but lacks footballing intelligence, his decision making is questionable to say the least and he needs space to be effective. There was potential but that was effectively ruined, along many other players, by the (wrong) successive managers he was under and I doubt he'll ever go beyond or even reach the "peak" he's had a few years ago. Had he been managed by a Pep, Klopp or Tuchel it might've been a different story though, but now? I sincerely doubt it.

That's my concern when it comes to Rashford returning to his best (alone alone going past that which is what we need). He was all about pace, runs in behind and goals. His football intelligence and quality in close spaces was always suspect. If he never regains the flair and can't deal with not playing on the break I do wonder whether he will remain a sub par player.

Again, you’re personalising the conversation. You don’t care if they leave on a free [it’s not my money so I don’t either] but you then go on to say how a ‘local lad’ should act. Sorry but both are irrelevant so let’s gets back to the crux of the initial comment, no club says to any player ‘run down your contract & if you play well we’ll extend it’ because simply as a business that player could play well & leave or could sulk about, neither which benefit the club you claim to prioritise.

The club either need to sell or back, you don’t let him run down his contract & cut your nose off to spite your face, that just isn’t how squads are built & it isn’t a constructive suggestion.

There's always room for improvement, to some extent.

Look at Mahrez for example. He was brilliant for us but there were aspects of his game that were lacking like tracking back, positional discipline, when he went to Man City aged 26, I think. It took Pep two seasons to drill that in him and he almost always looked out of place. Look at him now. Against you on Sunday, he willingly accepted to be left out of the game during the whole first half, everything going through the left as AWB and McTominay were clearly targeted, just to maintain width and be ready to get the ball in case one of his team mates decides reverse the game on the other side through a pass across the field, his first touch allowing him to catch any flying ball coming at him. He only did the dirty work, tracking back and trying to cut the passing lanes when off the ball. At the end of the day, he bags 2 goals when your team was knackered. Something like that would've never happened with the Mahrez of Leicester and had he gone to United, he'd have faded away.

There's always something to get out of a player under the right manager. Rashford isn't the only one falling off a cliff. It seems that any player who signs for you goes in only one direction. Backwards. Too many managers with opposite ideas and style of play, not enough coaching and discipline. Imo it stems from the complete lack of direction from the top and a precise idea of how the team should play and which goals it should achieve. Inevitably the players development is hindered, especially the younger ones, and bad habits take root. Said bad habits are very difficult to eliminate and it won't happen over a season.

Flair doesn't go away but remoulding him would take time and he has to be willing to go the extra mile. In the meanwhile years go by hence my doubts about him.

He's nothing but a kick and run merchant now and he can't even do that properly. Most of his kicks go in to the feet of defenders and then he runs right in to them.

He's no better than the likes of Theo Walcott or Aaron Lennon but the whole United Lad/United way nonsense took over and we hung our hat on the fact he would inevitably come good. Instead I'd say he's barely progressed his ability since breaking on the scene and if anything he's actually got worse as he seems to have such grand ideas about himself.
 
His weakest areas, to me, are things that in top class players seem to be instinctive - the footballing intelligence and decision making etc. So he's seriously lacking in those areas. He could have been coached into a good player though but he's been at the club during a dire time of decline and misdirection. So we have a talented player, no doubt, but who needed some serious coaching to become a useful player, but he didn't get it. I don't think he was ever going to become world class, but if his time at the club was with world class coaching during a steady time, he'd be a far better player than he is now. However, given his failings there's no guarantee at all that he would have been a starter every game.

I personally think part of his demeanour and displays on the pitch could be his frustration and disappointment at his own abilities, he may not even have admitted that to himself.

He hasn't developed, mostly the clubs fault, and he will be 25 this year. It's too late now. It may be best to move on - the alternative would be to accept your position here as a squad player, mostly utilised from the bench. But honestly, currently, he;s not even a useful squad player. He could be though, if he changes his attitude towards it, he could be.

But honestly moving might be probably best, has he failed here, or been failed here? Probably a bit of both. I'd love to see him change his attitude, be more positive about the situation and stay as that useful squad player, but I don't know if that can happen now.
 
Going off how the club has operated in the last 10 years absolutely everything about this points at a bumper new deal for Marcus Rashford. That's just the club we are now. Depressing.
 
I hope we never hype up a player as much as we did with Rashford ever again. He simply didn't have the talent level to manage the burden put on his shoulders.

Comparisons to Mbappe, suggesting he could beat Rooney's goal record and attempts to make him the poster boy from the club was just too much for him. The media were complicit in this, I remember in Jose's days when Rashford was 19/20 and they made such a huge fuss whenever he was on the bench or made to fight for his place with Martial as if that was beneath him. Its easy to see how he became entitled which is a stark difference from the humble kid that gave his everything on the pitch.

Ole was the worst manager possible for Rashford, he fed into his ego and gave him everything he wanted. He always started, regardless of form, barely ever got substituted no matter how bad his performance was. He also only ever said good things about him and the one time he didn't Marcus and his gang forced him to apologise while sitting side by side with Rashford. An embarrassing moment for both Ole and the club.

He was also allowed to get away with excuses, if it wasn't the back injury, the coaches, girlfriend breakup etc. People initially fell for all of this until he overplayed his hand with the constant PR pieces about him. If you want to be a superstar you get superstar expectations and one thing that is clear is Rashford is not close to having the required ability to be a superstar.
