Rashford considering his future...

He's basically an influencer/activist these days. Football is a part-time gig.
Don't forget to subscribe, like and share the announcement of my new children's book #[insert random hashtags here].

Can you share some examples?

Various comments today, from A number of people.

Paul Parker saying United would have to sell him very cheap because he has been so bad.

Former player on Talk Sport reckons he no longer has any interest in playing football anymore.

And many more.

Hot Take. Whilst mental health is obviously a major issue and a serious concern, sometimes general "life" can be conflated into mental health issues.

Everyone gets depressed now and then, and that should not be conflated with real depression (actually struggling, genuinely feeling suicidal etc.).

I do struggle to believe that Pogba, Rashford etc. suffer with genuine clinical depression and not just the usual travails that everyone has to deal with, this tends to hit sportspeople on retirement.
I’m not disagreeing. If you read my post I even mentioned that Pogba’s was probably mostly about United being rubbish and the burglary. Although with the latter we don’t know how that can effect even the most confident of people. I agree it is becoming a trend amongst younger people where “mental health” is just a loose term that’s thrown about to answer every issue.

BUT we don’t know if at least one player really does end up feeling suicidal because 1) that’s just the way they are wired and 2) it gets exasperated by the online abuse and scrutiny they face.

That’s my only point about accountability both for journalists and fans. These are real people who we don’t know. I say the same thing about “glorifying” footballers on a personal level also, I tell people you don’t what that guy is like as a person he could be an utter feck.

I posted about this last month. The worst part was the copy his team sent with the announcement:

Both releases will be significant publishing events. We will execute an extensive multi-channel marketing campaign supported by journalists from national print and broadcast media as well as leveraging the high engagement @MarcusRashford Twitter and Instagram accounts, which will allow us to reach across all consumer groups.

Macmillan Publishing will be gifting thousands of copies of each book to schools across the country; expertly weaving social justice with cross-market branding for increased media and consumer engagement

'Journalists from national print and broadcast media' aren't just giving out free promo, arranged in advance no less, without getting something in return.

This excuse that he is out of form should be put in the dustbin. He simply is arsed enough to even try for his team. That's the problem. Out of form means you try hard and do the simple things to get back into form. I have never heard of anyone being out of form and not making an attempt in any other club and still getting to play regularly. It only happens at United and never under SAF. Never. SAF would have already given him the hair dryer treatment both in private and public.
Does anyone still remember the one he gave to Johnny Evans? For only making a mistake.

I mean, publishing children's books while you're still supposed to be a dedicated professional footballer

It's almost like he's purposely wumming the fanbase.

He can do whatever he wants. Its just the timing of things that pisses me off.

Under SAF, he wouldn't have got the massive contract so early in his career.

How much time do you think he actually spent on it?

Professional athletes have plenty of spare time. Having constructive outside interests is better than just sitting around playing video games, or (like they did 20-30 years ago) going down the pub and getting smashed at least once a week.

The only issue is if the outside stuff starts taking too much attention and the football suffers. Which yes, may be a problem in Rashford's case. But writing some books in itself isn't an issue.

It's beyond depressing looking back on my conversations with friends about the young United and England front 3 of Greenwood, Sancho and Rashford.

I personally hope he stays and the new manager gets a shot to work him. I may be naïve, but I am not giving up yet.

Of course! A new type of book now!

I think at this stage we can say this has gone well beyond Marcus Rashford the individual. This is a group of vested interests a bit like a company, and they are chomping at the bit to milk Marcus for every penny they can possibly get for him. I bet they just look at him and see £££ signs. I feel sorry for him, but it's by the bye regarding Utd, it's meant to be a football club after all.

Think we should refer to him now on as Marcus Rashford Ltd

His name is more pronounced on the book than the actual titles, just pure spin from his PR team. Loads a money!!

Well you still got Sancho.

For his own sake, he should join another club that can take him out of the limelight. That will probably force him to start being a footballer again.

Do you think that Marcus Rashford would be as popular as he is now if he plays for Everton instead of Manchester United?

I wish fans would just accept how limited he is, he's basically a runner.
He doesn't even do much of that anymore. I'd actually be patient and willing to give him time to overcome this horrific form of his if he actually busted a gut in games, tracked back and generally looked bothered.

I see him happy everywhere but in games. He is always smiling and happy in training, vacation, social media, events then you see him on match day whether on the pitch or on the bench and he looks a right miserable sod. Why is that ? Not trying to break a smile even for the cameras. I don’t have a clue. He was never like this. When did it all change?

That’s quite obviously the issue here and hence why it’s being brought up. I wouldn’t give a toss if he was banging goals in every week.

This is why it doesnt work in an actual match. Here we see a 24 y.o Rashford jogging past 45 y.o Matic and 67 y.o Fletcher as defensive midfielders that were supposed to mark him. Dont blame him if he doesnt run in the next game.

I mean, not wrong this really is it? Remember stories from our more successful periods about how training could be tougher than match days. Iron sharpens iron etc.

No and that may just save his career once he’s not so popular and gets his focus back to football.

I'm still convinced that Marcus has not fully recovered, physically and mentally, from his injuries. It may me that he's 100% physically fit now, though he doesn't look it, but something seems to have scarred him mentally from playing through that much pain. But a lot of that blame falls on himself for pushing himself into the England side last summer rather than accepting the surgery he needed in the spring and then recovering in the summer.

However, I'm not sure he'll ever regain his previous form again.

Most worrying thing about that tweet for me is he needs a co author to help him write a children's book.

Do you agree with that despicable cnut in general?
The guy makes some good points and some OTT. He also tweeted about how Casemiro cut short his vacation and rushed back to Real Madrid after they lost 3-7 to Atletico.

He's an absolute scumbag. Some of the stuff he's come out with has been outrageous. I have him blocked on twitter.
