Yes he is better on the left but there's a reason why he's on the bench.
His performances since he returned from the injury are shit even on the left it doesn't matter where he plays and I think we can conclude this is not just a case of having no confidence.
He's had plenty of minutes to get his confidence back.

In recent seasons Rashford has actually played his best on the right. And this idea he has never played there is wrong because he has, it’s pretty much how he came through the youth ranks.
What we see now is just someone so lost and inside his head that it looks like he has lost all the promise and ability he showed. He like many others in the team looks a worse player than he was when he first stepped in to the team.
I don’t know what happened but all the things many were pointing out needed correcting a few seasons ago for him to become a great player weren’t and were left to become worse. Now not sure there even is a way to correct him and get him playing at the level he could. Maybe a move abroad where he could rebuild himself would be best for him, but at somepoint he needs to see where he himself is going wrong.
We need them to hire Ed Woodward.

The ridiculous notion that a right footed player being asked to play on the right is some kind of understandably insurmountable obstacle we can’t reasonably expect him to overcome - being normalised as an excuse - tells you everything
