Rashford probably needs to leave - Jamie Redknapp

Needs a loan move.

Somewhere like West Ham. Start week in, week out and develop his decision making and consistency. A season under Pellegrini could do him well.

If I was him i’d Go out on loan. Wolves or maybe German to a team competing for second place. He’d improve massively.

If we get that 2nd striker in, Rashford needs to go out on loan. If that happens and If he hasnt improved by end of next season under a different coach, well he will probably be let go.

It's worrying that Rashford hasn't really progressed as a player since he burst onto the scene so spectacularly, if anything he's been found out, hopefully this season he can kick on and improve.

Its more a perceptual illusion based on how strongly he started in his first year.

I wouldn't be averse to loaning him out but the perception of it would kill any thought of a move.

He doesn't need a loan move. At United he can learn plenty from the players we have. He had a poor end to the season but he was good earlier on, he's 20 we need to put faith in him not ship him off to some pub team.

He needs to play.

He was best this season on the left wing and under par as a striker.

Our recent big signing was a left winger. So Rashford wont play there much

Yeah seems like a loan is a better option than wasting away on the bench

One of him or Martial should go on loan. While it worked at the start, the face off between them for a starting place wore them both out and eventually the form of both players nose dived to the point where neither was starting.

I'd keep Martial as he's a better player right now. And send Rashford on loan. But only if it's the right loan. He's too important to waste a year of.

Martial's not going on a loan, he either leaves this summer or stays and re-sign for 4-5 years and then maybe Rashford could consider going on loan if he's really desperate to get more playing time, but with all the competitions the club will be competing in, and the fact that outside of Martial, there's only Rashford who can play up front to replace Lukaku currently, it could be a mistake to let him go on loan as well even if I personally think he's not up to the level United is trying to get to.

What? I disagree wholeheartedly with all you have said.

Rashford hasn't progressed as a player? 15/16 was so bad that we massively overrated any contribution a decent player made.

I've seen things from Rashford this season that he never showed in his first year. That cut back and rocket into the bottom corner against Liverpool being one of them. He scored a similar goal against Derby.

He's got 19 goals and assists for Manchester United at 20 years old! He's got the potential to hit that 30 goals and assists mark and be a top player.

He’s immature. A big difference from shit. Sterling was immature but Pep has by and large coached it out of him.

So it seemed at the start and middle of the season. Towards the end, the real Sterling seemed to re-emerge in full force.

Stop talking sense! This place has spoken. He’s shit! So that’s it, he may as well retire right now.

People need to have patience ffs.

He's been largely poor two seasons in a row. If we have to rely on him next year then we wont be winning any of the big prizes because he's nowhere near good enough.

If we could send him on loan to a midtable club and bring in Mandzukic as back up that would be a great bit of business.

It would be interesting to see statistics on those players who have gone out on loan and come back to the club and been successful and stayed.
He is learning his trade and among some top players plus one would believe a top coaching staff.
So he goes out on loan to a lesser premier club or a championship club he may play more games but would that improve his skills to play at a higher standard, i.e., European level.
There is a possibility that he has reached his full potential, ability and level that with further coaching and game time he will not improve to make that leap from squad player to be a continuous first team choice at Utd. However, watching him this season he has made progress, further coaching on his weak areas will improve him further, training with top players will enhance the coaching, maturity will also improve his all round game.
So no I think he should stay, listen, take note of his coaching staff and work hard, improve his all round game and remember that he is 20 years of age learning his trade at one of the top clubs in the world.

Rash still developing his game but a decision needs to be made about his best position then he can work on the elements missing. Jamie needs a day job.

He doesn't need a loan. He's doing perfectly well at this point in his development. He's 20 years old FFS! What are people expecting? A finished article? The last thing we want is to send him out on loan. You can't give someone 54 games and then them on loan. It gives mixed messages. The next two seasons are critical for his development and they have to be spent at Old Trafford.

No way he should go out on loan. We need him in our squad playing regular 1st team football. No question the lad's got talent he just needs to get his head round it and if Mourinho can't get that sorted then get someone in who can.

You couldn't have said that better!

Nobody can convince me Sterling has more talent than Rashford. So why isn't Rashford where Sterling is now? Even if Sterling was well on is way before Pep came on the scene he has certainly developed him further. Certainly not the case with Rashford.

Sterling is 3 years older thus has went through more of the development phase, or are you just going to ignore that?

I like Rashford but Sterling has an immense strength on the ball and is clearly superior at dribbling. However, they’re different type of players to begin with.

Rashford is doing fine. He's had 2 full years of senior football. Most players take 4-5 years to reach their level. He's got 13 goals and 6 assists mainly playing as a LW, good numbers and a platform to improve on.

He's a versatile forward who is very useful in the cups and as a rotational option in the League and CL. He's also 20 years old.

Ideally, imo, we loaned him to Leicester last season and bought Vardy instead in for half of what we paid for Lukaku. Next season (2019/20) we would have then been in better shape knowing if we need to put money into a world class striker (dont think Lukuku will ever be WC)

Still open to Vardy coming this season and sending Rashford on loan

If he stays, I don't want to see him taking set-pieces at all (he's as bad at them as everyone else in our squad) and I don't want to see him as a lone striker or, actually, a LW. In fact, I'm not sure how he's best used......what about as part of a striking duo with Lukaku? Speed and strength combination?

A season loan with guaranteed starting potential would be perfect but then we have no backup should Rom get injured.

Don't think those 3 yrs mean a lot tbh. When Rashford burst onto the scene with us he was already pretty close to Sterling. The gap has widened since then with Sterling being a key player in the City set-up. Therefore the development of those 2 players has differed considerably. One of them coached by Pep; the other Jose.

He is not as good as people thought he was/is. He had a fantastic start under van Gaal, but soon it went downhill after the initial euphoria, see Januzaj. He has some talent, but United isnt the right place for him now. He needs a different manager and a different environment to make the next steps.
