Couldn't give a toss really. Aside of Keane, when he had proper money it was spent well,Alonso for £10m, Torres £20m, Masch £18m, Reina £10m,
Kuyt £10m. in 2008/9 we beat United 4-1, Madrid 4-0 and won in the San siro. Sky have already airbrushed all of that from history. One things for sure, those days are gone for the minute but it was Rafa's team, the one he had when he was backed.

In 2008/09 we won the league. That's history. Not winning a couple of matches.

I don't know what's funnier, the words posted or the failure to see just how ridiculous they are!

Yeah apart from keane eh? Babel was a great signing, Johnson was a great signing, Dossena was a great signing, Riera was a great signing.

He bought Alonso and Reina thanks to his then knowledge of the Spanish league and would probably have tried to bring both to Valencia has he stayed there.

Torres was a no-brainer who was wanted around Europe and Mascherano was handed to him on a plate to get him out of West Ham.

The rest of his signings were mediocre or poor. Kuyt was a failure as an £11 million striker but found a place in a different position at RM where he contributed more to the side. There are better right sided players out there though and I think he limits you against weaker opposition despite the good things he does do.

That's as shit a one-sided argument as you'll see to be fair

RAWK AIDS, like bad AIDS but worse.
Brought to the Cafe by Murph,
It'll spread until we're all dead
does Murph wear tin-foil on his head?

My Shakespeare / Biggie Mash up didn't really work, sorry lads.

It's easy to see why Spammy was the one who was banned from RAWK.

You're one of them.

Mental illness.

So Murphman's caught the RAWK disease.

RIP Murph.

Shut it. You've all taken the post out of context, probably my fault. Sky and the British press at large hate Rafa, the nasty foreigner who won't play their game, Roy is much more to their liking. So he's dubbed a complete failure whereas up until 18 months ago he'd created a very very good side.

that is all.

alastair, I feel like I'm living a lie, can you help me?

I know you have some experience in this area.

I thought Sky and the British press loved Rafa? He didn't play their game but he played a much funnier one. What you lot think of as fighting the system came across as looking like an idiot and providing a bit of comic relief to everyone else.

Well it is true to an extent, but Murph's post sounded a tad bitter. Look at how Keys and Gray call Hodgson "mate" and stuff like that. There's no doubt which one they prefer. Having said that, who gives a shit? If you let the media dictate your management, you need to take a look at yourself.

You?

The point was raised, I adressed it. All I'm saying is that it doesn't/shouldn't really matter if the media like you or not. The media hated Benitez, they quite like Hodgson. This is probably because Benitez was a little bit curt in his press conferences, whereas Hodgson is much more friendly. But there is no doubt about which one was more popular.

You sound like every LFC fan I've had the misfortune to come across la.

I find that I'm actually a lot more pro-Benitez than a lot of Liverpool fans in general. I tend to stick up for him a bit in front of Liverpool supporting mates. I know a few posters think I love him so much I support Liverpool, but it's simply not true.

You even bought an Arsenal season ticket to try and cover it up. Its all quite weird. But we here on the CAF see through your charade.

Not only that, I ate my hat when "we" lost the derby, moved into a house in London, spent good money on flying out to Belgrade for a CL game this year, all whilst secretly supporting Liverpool. Mental I tell you.

Mate, unfortunately for you, you don't fool anyone. Your pro-Benitez / Liverpool and anti Hodgson posts outnumber your Arsenal related posts by about 10-1 from what I've seen YAWN

 The irony of saying that when I've been debating mentality in the Arsenal thread all day. It's quite sad that your delusion about Liverpool means that anyone who talks sensibly about them is automatically regarded as a RAWKite.

For what it's worth I personally thought the media had it in for Benitez too. You won't find me defending Rafa too much as a manager. I thought he ultimately fecked up Liverpool horribly and is doing similar to Inter but the media did hate him and i thought there was a particularly nasty tone to some of their sniping at times. Benitez didn't help himself and he has a habbit of painting targets on his fat head.

But watching a Champions League winner being talked down to and humiliated by a cretinous Sky microphone jockey was pretty unpleasant to see. Check out some of the post match Sky interviews for examples.

I just don't feel sorry for the man. It wasn't even the fact he was Liverpool manager, because I actually didn't mind Benitez when he first came to Liverpool (and the same way I still like Hodgson). It was his personal vendetta he took against SAF that I didn't like.

it was a good side that played great football for a short period of time without winning anything, but what you're leaving out that he completely ruined and mismanaged that side, alienating most of the players, imploding during your first genuine title challenge for years and wasting millions on transfers, signing on fees and wages for average/shite players.

"Mismanaged and ruined" that side? Or completely created that side?

The bolded bit is a myth bizarrely held onto by folk on here in order to demean Benitez.

The rest I agree with.

created and mismanaged/ruined the side, they aren't mutually exclusive.

have you actually watched that press conference in full? I can never make up my mind if it's the funniest or most embarassing thing I've ever seen and I can only imagine what your players must have thought when watching it. If it was me I'd have thought he was seriously worried about United/Sir Alex or that he was mentally unstable. All he had to say was "let United say what they want, they're only worried because we're top of the league", but he decided to go on a mad rant and give Sir Alex exactly what he wanted, a reaction to prove Benitez was worried about United.

So the media had it in for Benitez...well he did make it easy for them tbh...

Anyone notice that everyone in the media hates
is jealous of
United?

Everyone pretty much respects Ferguson though. There's some apocalyptic shite printed about United from time to time, but I don't think you get too much of a hard time in the media. I like to think Arsenal are by far the most persecuted English club, media wise. Liverpool often get this "what a great, lovely family club, with such a glorious history" stuff written about them, even when it has no relevance.
