to be fair, i dont blame them for celebrating that one, if that was Rooney in a Chelsea shirt getting crunched by Vidic im sure it would have been a lauded occasion

hard to imagine in an era when we didnt all hate each other, acyually spoke to a few old scousers who although lfc through an through went to support the mancs in euro cup games if we wernt playing, anyway r i p to all who perished.

It's mad isn't it ?

My dad is 75 and he has nowhere near the hatred for Man Utd that I do. It's always Leeds and Everton for him albeit he used to go and watch the blues every other week with my blue uncles and vice versa.

United is the closest club DNA wise to Liverpool. Good support, home and away, good songs, big history and that's probably why both sets of fans hate each other !!

Well said...

Nice to see those postings. Credit to them

.

Indeed... class post from the RAWKer. Pleasant surprise.

and good job stuffing the Rent Boys on Sunday (although I might be inclined to suggest it was more a case of Chelsea being shite, than Liverpool being good... still, well done)

Now with that momentary scouse love out of the way (don't worry, its not permanent) , lets get back to the business of showing those Bitter Blue bastards what a great club is all about.

The panic is rising in the Reina thread there at the moment. It's grown 20 pages in a day or so (I would post a link but my copy and paste function is on the blink). One guy has thrown in the towel already and is getting used to the fact they'll have a Dudek-like blunder machine in goal next season, whilst watching us win everything with Reina in nets.

From page 70ish onwards there's a growing resignation to the fact that it might actually happen amongst other posts of denial, conspiracy theories and self pity

Hmm...that's funny because there is about as much chance of me being United's new goalkeeper as there is of Liverpool selling Reina to us.

If SAF pays the release clause he would sign for us - thing is the reasons it might happen are more linked to us than them (SAF not doing business with Liverpool, us never spending that much on a player anymore). That's funny in itself - they're our bitch, because I think Reina would want to come, and as I've said, if the release clause is met, the owners would sell him to us. It's down to us if we want him or not

It's not up to Liverpool, though. Reina can go to any club he wants that's willing to pay the release clause.

I seriously doubt there is any release clause. That's not how football contracts work in the UK. Its probably some journo talking out of his arse again.

Saw in the Reina thread that both Tony Evans and Tony Barrett (Times footballer editor and writer respectively) have said it exists.

I know they are only journalists, but it's not like F365 came up with this or something.

Why is that probable? If there weren't any such release clause, why wouldn't LFC quash the rumor and say "there's no release clause"? Also, football contracts work however the parties who enter into the contract write them up. If a footballer gets a clause saying their must be a wedge of Cotswold cheese on clubhouse buffets or his salary goes up inserted into the contract, then that's how the contract works, regardless of how unusual that clause might be.

Just saw the Rooney goal...fecking hell, people all day made it sound like he had scored the greatest goal of all time.

fecking Crouchy has scored that type of goal a coouple times for us.

...

The majority of them have been alright in their Prem League Fixtures thread this weekend. It's getting to the point that many of them are actually praising us and not even wanting other teams to beat us. I think that they've given up on the 19th apart from wishing Arsenal all the luck in the world so that they might stop us rather than wishing for other teams to beat us directly. They now seem to be concentrating their hopes more on trying to get 4th, which will not happen, but they want Chelsea, Spurs, and City to lose all of the time. They've found their level, fighting for 6th.

 to be fair Crouch scored some nice ones, this against Galatasaray (although it's more of a scissor kick than overhead:

And another one against Bolton, but neither one came close to this one by Rooney when you look at the height of it, sheer power and trajectory. It was just beautiful. And let's not talk about the occasion...

After tonight's thrilling 0-0 result with Sparta:

I'll tell you what, this match was more entertaining than Arsenal vs Barca last night.

Gotta love the Europa League. I take back my previous comments, it isn't a mickey mouse cup.

I'd rather win this than finish 4th.

Thank Christ I couldn't find a stream for that match

That has to be a wind up  - I didn't watch the game, such was the tedium attached to it, but from what I've heard, it was dire.

I flicked it on with 15 minutes to go and some fans had thrown flares onto the pitch, meaning play had to be stopped due to smoke. I suppose that was them passing their own judgement.

Nobody does a shit boring match like Liverpool. 3 centre-backs against a shite side from Prague. Long live the King.

That quote Plan M posted was like something from The Big Sam spoof Twitter. :D

Liverpool have never been that exciting to watch, even when they were at their most recent peak in '09. At home, they're alright, but away from home, it is pretty boring to watch. Some call it a mature away performance, but sometimes it does go too far.
