They really are a special bunch. I can't recall a single incident involving their players, their managers or the fans themselves. So squeaky clean, a shining example of how football should be.

If wishful thinking resulted in trophies, they'd be treble winners every season.

Well said, Aporkalype. I completely agree.

But be careful on here, as speaking the truth like this can result in a ban.

Well, wishful thinking I can understand -- it's the bizarre self-definition and the projection which I can't get my head round.

Who on earth goes around claiming 'I'm better than you, my feelings are more genuine than your feelings -- when I go to a game it's a holy numinous communion, when you go to a game you're a know-nothing, glory hunting twat'?

Well, some RAWKites obviously, but it's still incredibly strange and fascinating to me. That's why they're so funny, I guess. (And for our resident Scousers -- No, not one of the Liverpool supporters I know offline - Scouse or not - behaves anything like the RAWKites.)

Yes they certainly very " special "

On a side note, there was a picture today of some scruffy little semi in scouseland with you'll never walk alone in wrought iron on one side of the front of the house and a barca flag on the other.

That last bit's true for me too. Most of my football supporting mates as well as my girlfriend and her family are all Liverpool fans, and they're a good laugh for the banter and all that, nothing wrong with them as far as these insipid, RAWKite delusions of grandeur are concerned. They hate United, sure, just like I hate Liverpool, but it's all in good jest for the most part and they certainly done consider themselves as some kind of biblical, holier than thou superfans supporting a club that's the leader of the free world and all that's gracious and good. There's always gonna be a sense of goodies versus baddies between rival teams and that, I'll always see Liverpool as the enemy and the Liverpool supporters will see us as the same, but only on RAWK do they collectively mistake these childlike and illogical pantomime projections for actual reality, truly believing themselves to be Arthurian Knights of justice and honour, rallying against the rabid hordes of Mordor United; it's as if the whole site is on a mental acid trip and all you can do is laugh and Wtf? They're clearly not embarrassed by it in any way, they love all that bullshit and lap it up; if a poster came on here spewing crap like that in support of United they'd get laughed all the way back to 56k dial-up!

It's a bit off topic that, but I do think that the league should distribute the national TV money fairly. I take issue with it being done on block with the international rights. Clubs should have the ability to sell their own international rights. Nobody in Bangkok or Los Angeles wants to watch Wigan or Wolves play, so why do they get a cut of the cash?

It's a tragedy of the common Weaste, IMO

it's good for a while for the top 4, but in the long run it won't be a good idea. Would we watch or even monitor the SPL if Messi/Ronaldo and co weren't there?

Madrid and Barca are not run professionally in a sense that they have political support lurking from the back, Madrid would be a good example, dodgy loans, etc. years of the duopoly will leave Madrid and Barca as the only limelight of SPL, should any mismanagement happens to them nobody would want to watch SPL, the last 10 years probably have cut off supply of international supporters for the rest of the league, leaving them with lost generation.

It could always back fire

Your entire post is spot on as far as I'm concerned, but the bit I've quoted (and especially the bit I've bolded) is a perfect encapsulation of the entire reason we're posting in this thread in the first place. It's not about being obsessed with Liverpool, it's not about board-dragging -- it's about some posts on there being the silliest and funniest ever to grace the internet.

I just took a quick look there (in the thread of the OP I quoted) and I found --

The difference, as you mentioned in many detailed points, is that our club has a soul, which belongs to us, it transcends any individuals. People come and go, fans will be born and will pass away, but the soul remains forever.

They have no soul
Pure Chris Morris!

I've got several very good mates who're Liverpool supporters too, and it was actually one of them who pointed me in the direction of RAWK in the first place (I think it was the original 'full impact of the Liverpudlian communion'-post).

If ever you're feeling down, a trip to RAWK will cheer anyone up. Comedy gold. Yet they're serious. Brilliant.

Few Liverpool banners from over the years:

Going by that first picture even their 'witty' banter is stuck in the 80's.

Do they ever tire of giving themselves a pat on the back?

"We're so dignified, we're so classy, we're so humble, we're so gracious... we're so pathetic, needy and desperate that we need to tell ourselves how great we are, every waking hour, just to stop us hanging ourselves."

I bet the guy who made the second one realised half-way through that they've never won a trophy that looks like that and just decided to hope no-one noticed.

In fairness it's perfectly reasonable to brag about their 5 European Cups. They're the most successful club in Europe, we're the most successful domestically - easily, by the way, as we've won 1 more league and 4 more FA cups to their 3 more league cups.

Were most successful overall now aren't we? Counting everything official like low end stuff, charity shields, uefa super cups, carling cups to bigger stuff like leagues and European cups, we have more. 59 trophies to their 58. Only not counting division 2 stuff.

Both sets of supporters like to be selective, just counting what makes them look better but overall we're the daddy. Hopefully trophy #60 will on its way. Its true though, our European trophy numbers do need bumping up a bit. (CWC, UEFA, super, Europa, Liverpool do have more).

You'd have to have some sort of scoring mechanism, whereby European Cups were worth a certain amount compared to league titles etc.

The thing to do though is just catch up the 5, starting on Saturday.

Of course they've been more successful in Europe. They're a great club, with many great managers -- Shankly, Paisley (3 European Cups in 9 years!), the underrated Fagan (also a Bertie!). Their support is pretty decent too.

I just have to laugh when they're claiming some kind of a priori superiority, especially when they're blowing their own dignified trumpet about their own classy and totally dignified dignity.

We lose count because it changes every year for us. We just keep racking them up, breaking records, and ploughing on. We never become attached to the numbers - they've never come to define us like they have Liverpool.

In 1990, Liverpool were 18-4, they're now 18-5.

In 1990, we were 7-1, we're now 19-3.

The Champions League is also much more difficult to win compared to the old European Cup, which makes our achievement all the more remarkable, not to mention how our recent record-breaking league titles have come in the backdrop of Sheiks and Oligarchs pumping endless supplies of oil money into rivals.

This, as they say on the internet. There's much to admire about Liverpool FC but their supporters do themselves and their club no favours sometimes.

The danger is that in time, if the top clubs are not on an even playing field in this respect, that for example the two large Spanish clubs and then maybe the Italian clubs get a much larger share of the TV pie, there could be a move towards a European Premier League. There was a reason why the English Premier League was started in the first place and broke away from the Football League.

Club World Cup winners 1
UEFA Cup Winners Cup 1
UEFA Super Cup 1
Intercontinental Cup 1
League cup 4
FA Cup 11
Community Shield 18 (including 4 shared)
TOTAL 59

Liverpool
Titles 18
European cups 5
UEFA cups 3
UEFA Super Cup 3
League cup 7
FA Cup 7
Community Shield 15 (including 5 shared)
TOTAL 58

No doubt the Scousers will try and claim the ScreenSport Super Cup of 1986 counts in their tally to stay on a level pegging.

Oh how I hope we can add a 60th to our haul this weekend.

Counting Charity Shields is really small-time

Its still an officially recognised trophy, just like the UEFA super cup or Spanish super cup are, which are the same thing pretty much. No one is saying we are shouting from the roof tops about our charity/community shield wins, we don't need to as we've got 19 titles, just that its an historical trophy under the FA and that its United 59, Liverpool 58 counting everything.

Hardly top priority I know, a bit curtain raiser or showpiece as is UEFA super cup but its hardly a pre season made up trophy like the Emirates cup.
Fair enough though, just to please you, we'll take our shields and super cups off and they can do the same, leaving them what, one ahead? We'll beat that as well then.

Yes I saw that on their Wiki page a while back. Isn't it some one of trophy or something? Had no idea what the hell it was. Smacks of desperation IMO and I swear it wasn't on the list before it was looking likely we'd become top of the perch!!!!

My mate is a liverpool fan who spouts the same shite that Rawkites do on facebook every day. It's all very Moses-esque and full of King Kenny leading the chosen people to the promised land type bullshit. He has been quite magnanimous about us reaching 19, though, which makes me very suspicious. It reminds me of an addict having to admit that they have a problem before they can tackle it: he has to acknowledge our achievements before his team can attempt to surpass them, otherwise he can't gloat if they do.

to be fair to KD, he was quite complimentary to Fergie when asked about the CL final. He said that although Barca were favourites, Fergie could find a way to stop Messi. He complimented the Rooney-Hernandez partnership

I dont dislike Kenny at all. He never says anything objectionable as far as I know. (Maybe because I don't understand a word he says).

But he's led them out of Egypt. Sorry, Europe. That must rankle.

Yeah apparently it was a one-off, i'll be honest, i'd never new anything about it until a scouser i work with sent me an email totalling their achievements.

I was surprised by this too. Never expected anything bordering on complimentary from him to be honest. But credit where it's due and all that.
