I have read threads and I parttake in ridiculing players, managers and other public characters, but once you go bashing someone who is not part of that but happened to be on a GIF by pure accident, then it is something else.
.
Whilst I can appreciate your point with regards to "name calling" (though I don't really agree with it) I can't see how it can be acceptable to take the piss of public characters just because they're famous but not other people? Seems massively hypocritical.
People like Rooney, Tevez etc grew up wanting to be footballers, not wanting to have the piss taken out of their looks. I don't see how you can seemingly take a high ground on non famous people but then when they happen to be celebrities we're allowed to say what we want. They are human beings as well. No different to that guy.
I also don't buy how people are saying "it's the internet" it's really not just that, it's the football culture in general and what people may deem as "banter" (I hate that word but that's what it is) it doesn't just happen between rivals it happens all the time in pubs and nights out etc, it may not be nice but a lot of the time there's no malice behind it. Fat people tend to know they're fat for example, a lot of them poke fun at it themselves. I think the outrage here is slightly OTT about a piss take of a stranger.
