RAWK Goes Into Meltdown | 2013/14

Back to mocking RAWK:

The "We go again" poem.
(Why do these guys love poetry so much?)
We Go Again

A special season now is done
And sadly there's no title won.
But memories of how we played
Will hold us through these summer days.
One memory for me stands out
Our captain gives a rallying shout.
Emotion strong, he tells his men
We Go Again.

Those words so heartfelt and inspired
Don't change because of what transpired.
For Stevie is a man who leads
Desiring always to succeed.
Pushing himself and those around
To always reach for higher ground.
He bottled it? Go boil your head
Support your fecking team instead!
As we back ours and know that then
We Go Again.

So Chelsea came and things went wrong
And now they sing that fecking song
And flood the web with endless memes
Our captain's slip, their bitter dream.
Don't let them take those words from him
As if it's ruined by what they sing.
Don't let them say he fell on his arse
And gave the ball to Demba Ba.
Because though he did, we know he slipped
And from there they were well equipped
To defend their lead, to waste our time,
To keep their deep defensive line.
We know that horrid twist of fate
Was just one game of thirty-eight
As Mourinho spouts his bitter chat.
The Special One? The "Special" Twat.
I'll stick with backing Rodgers men.
We Go Again.

I'm proud of reds who backed their team
And lined the streets as they made us dream.
I'm proud of our courage and conviction
As we battered all pre-season predictions.
I'm proud that at 33-1
We oh so nearly had it won.
I'm proud of our captain and proud of his words
And proud I'll remain despite internet nerds
Who hide behind computers and type on their screens
And have no idea what that passion means.
It means that they care, that they'll fight for the club
For those in the ground and for those in the pub.
For those who support us home and away
And even the gloryhunters who turn up in May.
The importance of that passion cannot be diminished
Though our best season for years had a frustrating finish.
You'll see how it matters next season when
We Go Again.
On super Stevie me. Put your house on it lads, this chaps believes with ALL HIS HEART.
Stevie will get his hands on the title before the end of his career. This may sound crazy, but since I was a mid 90's kid I had a deep hunch that Liverpool would next win the title in the 2015/16 season right at the end of Stevie's career. I don't like superstition, but I do believe with all my heart that we will win the title in 2 seasons.

We go again.

On Gerrard vs Toure
The average fan now things Yaya Toure's peak is higher than Gerrard's? I don't even... Like what the feck.

On Suarez
There’s a place for geniuses – and he is a genius. What would Bill Shankly think of Luis Suarez?

From the "Omens" (that we're going to win the league) thread.
I'm on a boat and we sailed past Cara Island and my towel number's 19.

5 seconds after our 3rd goal went in the call to pray started blasting out over the whole city.

Allah wanted everyone to give thanks - he is a red.

Last time I was in orlando was 2005 the year liverpool won the champions league

Right now I'm in orlando and when I checked in to my room we are staying in room 2005?

If Suarez stays I expect him to have another great season.

He seems to have finally put aside bad temperament and when fully focused on the playing there's no better striker than him in PL.

Suarez, weather we liked it or not, it's great player and can only get better with better teammates, and don's see any reason why Liverpool wouldn't add some quality players to the squad.

Hoping he'll leave or stay and suddenly get banned is nothing more than wishful thinking.

I don't think that he's changed at all, Liverpool have had things fairly rosey this season. If they start struggling again, I think Suarez will pull a few disgusting stunts again. I could be wrong though.

Topic: Louis Van Gaal is the Manager of Manchester United
I think he'll be a disaster personally.
Having Giggs as his assistant is liking United fans holding a knife to his back ready and waiting for if things don't go well.
So from United's perspective, Van Gaal gets them back to top four/title contention, while bringing on Giggs to succeed him, being unlikely to want to linger more than 3 or 4 years at the most. The marriage of an egotistical Dutch control freak with the dynastic ambitions of the Twats of '92, overseen by lingering, brooding presence of Ferguson. Surely nothing can go wrong...
He's mad obviously, but also a very, very good manager. He probably wont be there for long (he never seems to last in any job), but they are going to be much better next season.
Tough first day for Rooney under Van Gaal. (stolen from @_Empique on Twitter)

3 months max, before he gives a halftime teabaging to the white pele.
Sacked by Christmas

A lot of 'em rate van Gaal and feel he is exactly what we need in order to compete again. They also feel he is a lunatic and will at least be entertaining.

RAWK on van Gaal:

How many titles does Gerrard have?
And it's 4 titles in 16 years, only 11 of which were spent at clubs. 4 in 11(with 4 of those years at AZ Alkmaar!). Not too shabby.

If you want to extend it out to 20 years, it's 7 titles in 15 years of club management. Again, with 4 years at AZ Alkmaar. SAF achieved 13 titles (with us) in 27 years. So they have around the same rate of league wins.

If history has shown us anything it's when Madrid make someone their main target they inevitably get their man. Figo from Barca, Zidane from Juve, Kaka from Milan, Ronnie from us and Bale from Spurs. I can't remember them ever missing out. If they make a run at Suarez he's gone.

Whatever the stats are, it's hilarious how unaware he is of the irony of using titles to judge someone, when they haven't won the league in 24 years and counting. These are the same people who no doubt think that starfish Steve is a better player than Scholes.

Yep.

Maybe if Benzema wins them the Decima with a goal they'll back off and sign a youngster for rotation and the future instead, like Draxler?

One poster made a point that having giggs would be a bad influence if things go wrong and i would agree.

They'd have to break the transfer record again..

Liverpool are under no obligation to sell given he's signed a new contract, and Suarez has less reason to want to leave than he did last summer. He's going nowhere.

Last season it was Arsenal doing the chasing. A completely different proposition to Real Madrid. I wouldn't be so hasty in ruling it out.

Correct.

In what way would he be a bad influence?

I'd guess they mean that if things go badly there will be cries for Giggs to take over.

The new contract could easily have a release clause. After the problems last summer I would be surprised if he signed a new deal without exact terms for a clause. Doubt Madrid would care about breaking the world record again either since they've been breaking their own record for more than decade now.

Van Gaal wasn't managing Holland then. Are you referring to the 2010 World Cup?

Regards Suarez, it's simply a case of how badly Real Madrid want him. Liverpool have no pressure to sell and it appears Suarez won't force a move but if they really want him, they'll get him.

I think Suarez will stay one more year. He doesn't really have an excuse to leave this year, and being worshiped in the way that only the Scouse can has got to feel pretty good.

It's patently obvious LFC won't have everything go their way again next season. They'll have the CL to deal with, and City/Chelsea/Us/Spurs/Arsenal should all be better. Plus I can't see Stevie G having as good a season again. This felt like he was squeezing out the final drops of energy left in his career.

I think Suarez will stay, LFC will have a very 'normal' year, but won't win anything of note, and that will be the natural point for him to leave to Madrid.

The one way I could see Suarez leave, and of course this is without knowing him at all, so pure conjecture out of my posterior. If he has a fantastic World Cup, makes an even bigger name for himself, etc. Then you have an already interested Real Madrid thinking that no matter what they pay for him they get it back fairly quickly in shirt sales. Then you have his agent thinking, gee that contract with Liverpool is nice and all, but now I can get even more if I just shop him around a little. Next thing you know Suarez is having his head turned by huge offers, seeing Real Madrid fans all over the place talking about how much they want him to come, etc. Suddenly Liverpool is getting a large transfer fee, Suarez is getting an even fatter new contract, and every player in Spain is getting a rabies vaccination.

Not saying it will happen, just that I could see it playing out like that.

You never ever ever make a transfer fee back in shirt sales.

You never ever ever make a transfer fee back in shirt sales.

I don't think you can say that.

I wonder how many shirt sales a free Lewandoski will shift for Bayern this coming season.

United and Madrid sell on average 1,400,000 shirts a season worldwide claimed by some reports. It's technically very possible. Though I wouldn't say a £30m player would cover the cost in shirt sales, there isn't any reason a sub £15m player wouldn't cover his fee if it was the right player.

The shirt manufacturer makes the money, not the club.

The shirt manufacturer pays for the chance to earn that money by paying the club to make its shirts.

Just realised, when they last won the league I was in the first grade. (Ups just discovered my age :) )

Lets play a game, what were you doing or where were you when Liverpool last won the league. :D
