In fairness, it is probably 20 pages of them (rightly) laughing at us.
 
They still love Luis.

He's nuts but in an endearing way. All his antics are so child like that it's hard to hold it against him.

They're complaining that Vidic got a free ride over all the years fouling players and never getting booked for it. They must've been ignoring Skrtel last season.

That's funny, but I actually did think at the time that we'd bought him ahead of schedule, so to speak, because it looked like someone else (likely Liverpool) would nab him if we waited too long.

It's now apparent that he could well have benefited from a year or two more at Blackburn, in my opinion.

If he'd shown what he's shown here at Liverpool instead, I wonder what the views on him on here would be.

We couldn't; Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs had all officially bid for Jones at the time so we had to act quickly.

However, it does seem as though the early hype surrounding him was a bit much. Good squad player, versatile but not the player some expected.

That's right. At the ripe old age of 22, while being the best centre back option for the biggest club in the world, his career is pretty much over. Might as well retire. #scouselogic
 
The team we have now would be the same even if we had Suarez in it at least until the end of September. So, we cannot really argue about it until then.

He is a class player but i havent really felt any sort of disappointment over him leaving as much as i thought i would. Certainly not as much as when Alonso left. It kind of feels like when Torres left where i wasnt actually that much bothered from a football perspective after, minus the hatred felt towards Torres for not giving a shit in that season.

Its probably down to the fact we have a quality squad anyway.

You are thinking of Varane, not Jones, and he is only 21,fwiw.
 
Alexis has not been that impressive thus far, to say the least. Start of the season of course but still... rather bad.

We're told without Suarez we'll struggle, then on this forum we're told without Sturridge and Coutinho on form we'll struggle, what next? If we had 4 players on the pitch we'd struggle. We'd probably still win given our attitude.

You're right, of course. Jones has lived up to the hype. His trajectory looks incredibly promising.
 
Tbf Jones has rather been disappointing ever since he came here. He is just 22 but in 3 years he has been here, there hasn't been the kind of improvement you would want to see in a player in their development phase. Jones playing at 3 positions and not in one role with regularity clearly hampered his development. Right now he doesn't look assuring as a central defender and he doesn't inspire confidence when playing there. He has all the tools necessary to become a top centre back but he has to really apply himself if he wants to make it here.

However, Smalling looks like he could be the better centre-back in the near future with his astute tackling, strength, pace and reading of the game. However, he too lacks the commanding nature that most top centre backs have. He does look a bit reserved and 'in his shell' at the moment and hopefully with a regular run in at the centre of defence he can become a top centre back that he always looked like he was going to be. Jones is just 22 and Smalling is still rather young for a centre back and we should stick with them because they have what it takes to make it here.

Both are young, strong, quick centre halves who have spent most of their time at the club playing out of position. Along with Evans they will be mainstays in the United back line for years to come. Hopefully Rojo too, but I haven't seen enough of him yet to judge.

I know I'd rather have Jones at centre back than any of Liverpool's 4 centre backs (except possibly Lovren).
