Reading vs. Manchester United

Will Fergie give RvP yet another full 90 minutes? He will be rested sooner or later. Probably versus Cluj at home.

Tunnicliffe even though I rate him hasn't proved to be quite ready, id like to see the other 2 given a chance. Tbh I hope Tunnicliffe goes on loan in January, he needs some.competitive action to get back into the stride of things. But like you, I would have no issue with him featuring against Cluj, preferably from the bench though as id really like to see the.other 2 more.

I hope that we use 3 in midfield again to better prepare against City. I really cannot see us surviving that encounter if we go with 2 in midfield (especially if that midfield contains one or more of Scholes, Giggs and Fletcher).

I expect that our all first team will be rested against Cluj.

Same team please. Or at least same midfield. Every game you give them they'll get better. If Rooney gets his act together a bit more, then we'll turn some of that good football we were playing against West Ham into goals.

EDIT: I wonder what it will take for SAF to stop using Young. Will he keep getting games regardless of how terrible he is just by virtue of being our only winger? At this point I'd rather Fergie did almost anything else. If he insists on playing a winger, could he not play Evra there, with Buttner at LB? He'd be at least twice as effective as Young.

If we have to start a LB on the wing I would rather play Buttner there, think he played as a winger at his previous club before being converted into a defence player, doesn't look too bad when he goes forward as well.

any of lindegaard or de gea is fine to me. credit to lindegaard, has done well since coming back to the side.

no point of playing young. he is out of form. starting him would be like wasting one substitution option later on. with welbeck and rooney on the pitch we could change from 4-5-1 to 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 automatically.

hernandez on the bench, he is much better coming off it.

This, this, this ALL DAY LONG.

Fck me. Guardian have us starting Scholes and Giggsy.

They clued up or way off the pace?

Hopefully way off the mark. Scholes, Giggs and Young all starting? I don't mind young as much, but would prefer Scholes and Giggs not to, let them have some minutes in the champs league. I don't want them to be in contention for the City game, although you wouldn't mind Scholes being on the bench.

This lot were given a 4 goal start by Arsenal and couldn't beat them.

feck all the talk about 'game rasing' and 'their cup final'. Winning league titles is about winning at places like that.

No excuses.

Me too, 100%. I'd like us to play the exact same team again. But given that that's unlikely, and that for some inexplicable reason Fergie keeps playing Young, from the bench if not a starting position, I was thinking of ways he might indulge his winger addiction without having to resort to Young. As you've basically said above, Evra may not be perfectly suited to the role but anyone would be better than Young at this point.

Fergie paid a lot of the Glazer's money for Young. I think that influences his decision-making.

RVP is on 4 yellows, I can see SAF resting him as City is the game after Reading. You don't want RVP getting another yellow card and miss City game.

Lindegaard/de Gea - Lindegaard's done nothing wrong since stepping in so I'm not sure if he'd be dropped for this. However, no one will complain if de Gea comes in and if not he'll probably play on Wednesday anyway.

Rafael - Guaranteed to start. Probably rested on Wednesday.
Ferdinand - Most likely starting. Definitely rested on Wednesday.
Evans - Guaranteed to start. Definitely rested on Wednesday.
Evra - Guaranteed to start. Definitely rested on Wednesday.

Carrick - Most likely starting. Definitely rested on Wednesday.
Anderson - Most likely starting. Most likely rested on Wednesday.
Cleverley - Probably starting. Maybe rested on Wednesday.

Rooney - Guaranteed to start. Definitely rested on Wednesday.
van Persie - Most likely starting. Definitely rested on Wednesday.
Hernandez - Probably starting. Might be left out on Wednesday.

Ferdinand is the most likely change for this game, coming in over Smalling. Scholes might step in over one of the midfielders, but I'd sooner him come off the bench when Anderson inevitably tires. As for the goalkeeper, either is fine as I said, but if I'm being picky I'd prefer de Gea. Welbeck or Young might start over Hernandez, or it could even be Giggs which to be honest wouldn't bother me too much as we'd be playing him in the hole and allowing Rooney and van Persie to partner up top properly. We'd also have the energy of Cleverley and Anderson behind him with Carrick sitting.

de Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick
Cleverley Anderson
Giggs
Rooney van Persie

Lindegaard; Smalling; Fletcher, Scholes, Young; Hernandez, Welbeck

It's getting too predictable, either we:

Lose - Mass suicide on redcafe cos our defense is shit, de gea is shit, partnership between rooney and robin not working, evans is shit, nani should feck off, scholes and giggs are too old
Draw - Mass suicide on redcafe cos City will take the first place and all the moanings that comes with it
Win difficulty by overturning a goal deficit - Mass suicide on redcafe cos we're making things difficult for ourselves again
Win easily by a large margin - Mass suicide on redcafe cos we're are not consistent

Come on Manchester United! Prediction: 0-7 (yeah feck it)

Brilliant so very close to the caf matchdays "top reds"

Fixed. Young is our only fit winger I believe

Fergie paid a lot of the Glazer's money for Young. I think that influences his decision-making.

He chose to keep a 30 million pound player on the bench for all of last season. Obviously the price tag is not as issue.

Young has been playing because of injuries to Nani and Kagawa, and now Valencia too. It's not inexplicable at all. It's extremely easy to understand.

They would run around at home and will make it tough for us. I hope we go with another mobile midfield.

My XI would be:

DeGea
Jones Ferdinand Evans Buttner
Fletcher Cleverley
Anderson
Young RVP Rooney

Subs: Lindegaard, Rafael, Smalling, Scholes, Giggs, Hernandez, Welbeck

Yep rather simpy. SAF wants to play a particular tactic that involves wingers. And young is currently our best option there with Nani and valencia injured. I can see him continuing to get games if we want width

I'm assuming we'll see something like

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick
Giggs Cleverley
Rooney VanPersie Young

and then against Cluj we'll have de Gea, Smalling, Jones, Buttner, Fletcher, Powell, Welbeck and Hernandez come in for Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Rafael, Evra, Carrick, Giggs, Rooney and RVP.

Big rest for Ando so he's ready for City.

I'd play anderson this game and rest him mid week. That way he has a bit more consistency in the team, while still getting a rest before the City game

With all of our wingers bar Young injured I hope we simply stick with the midfield line-up from Wednesday with maybe Welbeck in for Hernandez up top and Rio in for Smalling in defense.

So I'm guessing Anderson and RvP are the biggest question marks. I hope both start.

Omitting Carrick is a big call, but not even a bench place?

DDG; Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Evra; Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson; Young, Rooney, RvP

Young's not my preference but better than Welbs on the left

I pay sky over a grand a year, yet it's another weekend of Having to watch United over a dodgy stream ffs.

I think Evans and Smalling deserve another start at centre back given Rio's shaky form and the fact they managed one of our few clean sheets this year.

I am surprised they don't have something like NFL Sunday ticket for football in the UK. It's insane.
