Real Sociedad vs Manchester United

They're the only three options you go with in a European away tie. You don't start throwing people like Fabio and Varela into the mix in a game like this.

He's hardly inexperienced at this level.
Fletcher, returning from illness played in the groups for us last season.

Saying Fabio is better than Smalling at RB=Fabio fanboys. Well done!

Valencia was really good at the weekend, why are people complaining about Nani not starting exactly?

It's Giggs in CM and Smalling at RB that I'm concerned about, oh, and Ferdinand starting, squeaky bums etc.

You are comparing fabio to varela and expect people to respond seriously?

No, I'm saying you don't throw in Fabio, a guy who has had hardly any game time this season at the thick end of an away tie in a European compeition.

Of course this is the Cafe though and you all have boners for him, so you'll ignore why Moyes has gone with the safer option.

What a strange team selection.

Smalling rightback - does not work.
Fellaini / Giggs - sit back and cringe

All three of them are necessary changes I think.

Jones started all three matches in the last week and needed a rest. So Smalling comes in at RB. Evans is injured so Rio comes in at CB. Cleverley is injured, Carrick is injured and Ryan Giggs is better than Anderson so he comes in at CM.

It's a very slow side but I'm not sure what other option Moyes had except for starting Fabio at RB but unfortunately that ship has sailed.

A centerback playing as a rb is a better option than a guy who actually plays there? Who has started CL games in the past for us, including a final? Who is a much better attacker than smalling from the rb position? Not to mention a better player than buttner.

Yes, its because we have boners for him that we think he should play.

The Fabio played in CL final line is getting very old.

I don't get the negativity here tonight. The team isn't too different from the one that beat these (comfortably) at home.

Oh I know, they were necessary due to injuries and such, it doesn't mean I'm not worried!

I'd have at least liked to see Fabio on the bench, cause Buttner is shite, and if he can't get a look in over him then he's basically done here.

...

Stop being a fecking idiot and post properly. Explain what you're even going on about or don't bother at all.

What the feck are you on about? I was talking about Nani and you quoted me and started talking about fullbacks. Are you okay?

Expected Nani to start, he doesn't deserve to be dropped for two games(possibly even more) after one poor game this season tbf.
Rafael isn't fit.

It was a choice between Jones and Smalling.

I wasn't talking about Rafael.

Looks a fairly spot on lineup to me.

Carrick and Rafael are out any way, VP is rested, Fellaini certainly needs a game as does Giggsy.

Looks good.

Could be wrong in an hour's time but we'll see.

Arsenal at home on sunday is a huge game, so this looks a decent lineup.

I don't get this RB selection either but seriously, either Smalling is doing some crazy shit during training like gliding past players with his eyes closed or Fabio's doing something awfully wrong. Other than that I'm quite content.

He can play on the left too.

Giggs thrived against these last time so I'm not surprised to see him start and I figured Fellaini would. I am surprised at Kagawa getting a start, hopefully he has a good game. I'd prefer Fabio at RB but it seems obvious to me Moyes sees no future here for him despite how average Smalling is as RB cover.

I should of quoted the post below yours. Moment of idiocy, my mistake for being a nob.

I almost started doubting my eyes for a second, I couldn't believe you are making same mistake three posts in a row.

The Fabio played in CL final line is getting very old.

In which case people should stop acting like he's just come up from the reserves. He is experienced at this level, not some rookie.

I think Kagawa was more deserving of a start though.
I'm not sure it's about who "deserves" the start, Kagawa was probably preferred as he could drift inside and add another number in central midfield.

Plus Valencia and Kagawa seem to be Moyes' favoured wingers in Europe from what we've seen so far.

Okay, why the feck do people think playing Young on the wing, or Smalling at right back is the 'safer' option??? 90% of the time, they are absolutely shite there and all our problems stem from Smalling at right back, and we always look shite going forward when Young is on the wing. The only people who are safe when those two play in those positions are the opposition, so please stop saying shite like it's the safe option. The safe option, is playing your best players in their proper positions, and Fabio is miles better then anyone we have in either fullback positions apart from Rafael and Evra, nobody can even dispute that (apart from Moyes apparently). What he sees in Buttner as well shocks me really, he has no concept of defending whatsoever, and Smalling at right back looks lost defensively and like always, is clueless on the ball so the whole right side becomes useless. Not to mention that Valencia looks shite on the wing when he has a defensive fullback like Smalling behind him. It really is simple stuff that troubles us time and time again, every game. Yet people will always say "He's the manager, he knows best". He really should know best, but when he keeps playing Smalling at fullback thinking it's a good option, it really makes me question him.
Rant over.

Sorry man, my mistake. I thought when you said that I was being funny that you was taking the piss  I haven't even had a drink yet either!

I reckon Jones is being held back for the weekend, as he'll play in midfield, hence Smalling starting.

The only people mentioning Fabio are those who claim he should be starting. No one is saying he's a rookie. just that he's not actually that good.

Yeah, think we'll see Jones and Cleverley in the centre vs Arse anal.

How many times did Sir Alex play Young on the wing, how many times did he play Smalling at Right-back? Another thing, Valencia was playing terrible up until recently, even when he had Rafa behind him so, it doesn't matter who is right-back. So, just get behind your manager and stop whinging ffs. He has only been in the job 5 minutes, and I am sure that you were criticising Sir Alex back in 1986?

Actually Fergie loaned out Fabio and played Jones/Smalling at RB as well. Büttner is on the bench and had a decent game against Norwich I'd say so I don't understand the moaning here mate. Agree that Smalling is inept offensively but he's been one of our best players against Leverkusen in the CL.

It's a competitive line up. I like it. I think we will gain an advantage over Arsenal, one we will be thankful for if we go and win it.

He's better than both Jones and Smalling at RB though. That's the point.
