Red Dead Redemption

Wait, whats Blackwater? I think I was kinda far into it? Feel like I was 3/4 of the way through but could be wrong.

Never noticed that you were seperated from the north-eastern part of the map? Thieves Landing had a river you couldn't cross until Mexico was solved.

You're not 3/4 through, nope.

Hmmm I do remember that but I can't remember for the life of me if I got there or not! I'm feeling an Xbox day tomorrow.

It was a fantastic game in its time, I'm not sure a remaster would quite hold up in a world where we now have GTA V and The Witcher 3 (soon). Just give it a proper sequel, westerns never get enough love from the gaming or movie industry.

You can't really have a sequel to it though in terms of story. A major part of the game was that cowboys, outlaws, and the Wild West were dying out.
I think Rockstar could do something Prohibition-related with gangsters and the Mafia, or maybe later during a similar period of LA Noire. It would end up being like Vice City, I guess.

Prohibition-era mafia would be amazing.

Some kind of spin off from The Warriors would be great too. They made The Warriors game but a modern, up to date (in terms of console power), fully free roam version of it could be special. Lots of neon signs, dodgy clothing, weird gangs, overly stylised 80s setting

My heart skipped a bit thinking a sequel was coming when I saw this thread bumped. Whenever I felt gloomy or depressed in life, I'd just fire up this game, enter free roam and go wherever it would take me. This is the only reason I regret selling my PS3 in for a PS4.

You cannot really have a direct sequel because of how plot finalises in Redemption but it never stopped them from making GTA games that were not connected in any way plot wise. I think they'll release another Red Dead game situated in the Wild West.

Yeah I thought there was going to be a second one. I've been waiting for a second RDR forever.

I think there's plenty you could do with a sequel, maybe a story with his son? Also an indirect sequel would be fine, a la GTA. I'd like a prequel though. It'd be amazing to play as John while he's still in the gang. There could be train robberies, prison breaks, the lot!

I wish they put the sleeping dog fighting engine to go along with it, Warriors style theme will get obsolete pretty quick with handgun

I am bitterly disappointed thought a new one or a remastered version was on it´s way.. Man that was a good game..

Bastards, I thought this bump would be a sequel announcement or something

Now that the PS3/Xbox360 era is over, I'd say this was the best game on it.

I think TLOU was, but this would definitely be my second choice.

I think Im about to finish Mexico, so I thought the game was over!!!!

This is great news! Or terrible news, as I really want to play the DLC.

Could they just not do a sequel in the same period? Damnation

The thread title , who keeps changing it? At first when I saw it I thought I had done something bad by bumping but now I am quite pleased with myself

Edit -
So I spoke to an insider at Rockstar who confirmed that Rockstar is indeed developing a sequel to Red Dead Redemption for PS4/Xbox One.

Don't have a lot of concrete details but expect co-op to be integrated and focused on.

Excited as feck? ☑

Edit: Bish approved.

From Neogaf and it was approved by the mods on their so the guy must have had proof.

Imagine the next one on PS4 with A Fistfull Of Dollars theme on Spotify in the background. Give me it now.

You know what, make it like GTA V with 3 playable characters with a Good, Bad & The Ugly style back story and Rockstar can have my money now.

Start it out as someone who is bootlegging/running moonshine in Appalachia before they move off to New York or Chicago and get into real organized crime.

I think Vegas during the organized crime era could be entertaining.

I think a sequel should be out of the question, seeing as the Wild West setting is what makes RDR so great, but that game is about the end of the Wild West so a sequel would make no sense.

Anything involving Jack Marston should be out of the question too, seeing as most people really didn't like him.

Really? I thought he was a pretty good character. Much better than rockstars previous game...Niko Bellic who is the most boring person ever.

Edit - I've mixed up John and Jack sorry. Yeah Jack was pretty boring.

Rockstar don't tend to carry characters over anyway, not playable ones atleast.

Prequel is definitely the way to go. I've been saying it for a while. I'm a genius, they should totally listen to me.

Yeah I loved John, easily my favourite Rockstar protagonist ever.

Jack was just annoying and I didn't care for him at all.

I quite liked John, I just hated how it ended. Didn't make me want to play it after that.

Undead Nightmare though was brilliant (until the end when I felt it was ruined again).

This is now available for the xbox one with most dlc free.
Edit: backwards compatable, not remastered.

With next gen graphics too? Will it be on PS4?

Nope, 360 graphics unfortunately.
And I don't think so.

If they've released it on backwards compat for xbox, makes me think Rockstar have no plans for a remastered version.

Although I'm pretty excited to play it again, I'm currently playing through witcher 3.
40 hours into it.. don't think I'm half done yet and still got both dlcs to play!

It's just backwards compatable, not a remastered version.

They won't do a remaster, if they were to do that they'd have got this out by now. Next chapter is most likely but considering Rockstar have not made a single game for a new generation during its nearly 3 years lifespan so far, I'm not sure they're exactly planning on releasing any games on Xbox One or PS4 at all. They'll milk GTA 5 forever.

I must be the only person who who found this game boring as feck. One of the few games I deleted off my PS3 hard drive because I knew I didnt like it at all

I only got about halfway through this before GTAV came out (on the last generation) so ended up deleting it to make room on my harddrive :(

But awesome that its now backwards compatible, I've got a long backlog of games I've started but haven't finished including Fallout 4 and Witcher 3, but will definitely be picking this up when I can.

Releasing free updates every few months is hardly milking it, rather the complete opposite.

I'll admit, it was a bit cheeky to release a next gen version of a game with barely any noticeable changes, but the work Rockstar they put into inclusive patches and updates is astonishing and unrivalled in the gaming world.

Yeah they've done a good job and updates are free but I think they've earned loads of money through in-game currency sales. I think they make more than $50m per quarter through that alone, plus the game is still selling very well and plenty of people have bought it for two platforms. It's a cash cow for Rockstar.

I loved the option of playing the game in first person. Not sure it warranted a full release price, but that was a pretty big change imo.
