Rio Ferdinand

feck, feck, feck.

It won't stop, it's just the beginning. Another season.

Three fit defenders and eighty-seven fit wingers and strikers. Great.

Evans should be available.
Not match fit.. but better than Carrick.

Rooney - Van Persie
Kagawa
Nani - Carrick - Cleverley - Valencia
Evra - Vidic - Rafael
De Gea

On a serious note though I fecking hope Rio is available. Having 4 CBs injured for the first game of the season would be simply ridiculous.

We'd lose 6-1 with that line-up.

fecking hell. This nightmare never stop. 4 of our 5 CB are injured. Let's start playing Berba there, probably he will do a better job than in attack.

Seriously this mean that Carrick will play there for some games, and we will play without a DMF for those games.

disaster if Ferdinand isn't fit

If Evams doesnt make it I would consider playing Scott Wootton there - he has looked decent when he played there in preseason

And so it begins.Well that's made an already tough fixture that much harder.

It seems, apart from Evra, all of our defenders are injury prone..

Yeah I think at some point we should give one of the young players a chance in one of these situations. That Thorpe, looks good to. Though everton are one of the worst we could have to lack experienced defenders and defensive strength in the middle. If rio is out we'll have to play our cards right on fellani's fitness who may be a doubt. If he is fit we'll have to put carrick there as he can cause way to many problems and we can't even get away with evra moving inside which he has done before.

thorpe has looked good but wootton is a bit further on in his development

Wootton played early on Saturday morning but he's a young lad and the adrenaline would see him through it - we need someone to pick up Fellaini - I reckon Vidic will on set pieces but he could be very very dangerous coming from midfield

we'll need rafael to be disciplined - Pienaar could have a field day if he is out of position

we did look solid in the friendly with Barca with Carrick in there but you hate to lose him in midfield

Think this match could be a high scoring game - we might need to score 2/3 to win it

lets hope Everton make their usual slow start

How far off is Evans from playing? If he is not too far off then is it worth a gamble playing him?

We know Everton like to play the long ball and will take every opportunity to expose our weaknesses.

------------De Gea------------

Rafael----Carrick----Vidic------Evra

Valencia---Ando-----Clev-------Kagawa

----------------Rooney--------------------

----------------RVP--------------------------

Kagawa and Valencia are preferred to Nani/Young cause they offer more defensive cover.

We deffo need a LB, i bet they will be discussions with the Everton board after the match around Baines availability and transfer fee.

We would've heard something by now if he was out for a month, surely?

It the usual ploy from Fergie....anyhow wasn't it just reported in the Daily Star (nuff said)?

Na. We would have got an update if it happened before the press conference. Will have to wait for the pre-match chat tomorrow for an update from Fergie now.

One good thing is that Carrick has some experience of playing as a CB.

The last time SAF commented he said he would likely just miss Everton, so it sounds like he'll be ready for Fulham 5 days after. But it sounded like he had a small change to be ready early.

Evans has been training for a while now.. I'm sure I read about him returning to training when the squad were going to Norway or some time around that.
Ideally, he wouldve been eased in... If the injury reports are true.. he might be rushed..

He should be back soon.

Injuries are fecking annoying.

Evans has been training for at least four days now. Could be a classic Fergie moment and he's fit anyway!

Also, Rio tweeted yesterday: "Soccer Saturday is such a good watch on a lazy day after training!"

Make of that what you will.

Did he?
Telegraph article says he got injured on Friday.
Hmm.

Isn't it possible he picked up the injury after/during training yesterday?

EDIT: Guess not based on the post above. How random a journo must you be to make up an injury story out of thin air though. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

We can always draft in Blackmore....heard he is still playing!

Unfortunately, it's not so thin air anymore for some time now.

Well the injury story says that he got injured on friday.
but he tweeted on saturday that he was having a lazy day after training.
would a player with a groin injury that is serious enough to keep him out for a month, train the day after he got the injury? does anyone know enough to comment on this.
plus he said, feet up, can he put his feet up with a groin strain :-p
