Ole off for Fletch. Giggs isn't much arsed defending and someone to cover ground is needed in midfield. Carrick and Brown have been class. O'Shea has tried to dodge defending Mancini, its unreal at times.

Chivu's protective gear should be calling out for Heinze's elbow. I bet Gabby's trying his best to restrain
 
Ref is a total cnut as usual always the same when you play italian teams and seems to happen alot to us in europe.Scholes in fairness probably deserved the bookings but its the other descions were you hardly touch the diving scum that allow them to keep the pressure on.

Our real problem has been we've been completely swamped in the center. It was a real mistake playing 4-4-2. We have too many attacking players on the field, we should have played Fletcher instead of Ole (who's done nothing).

We've got to hope that by the full time whistle the tie isn't already over. It was an unlucky goal to let in, but we've not been putting any pressure on any of their players. Literally gifting them acres of room.

Carrick has to have a big second half. I'd take Ole off and put Fletcher on and try and regain some of our shape again.
 
That's as shit a United performance as I've seen this season.

We had a player sent off, and it made sod all difference to anything, since no one outside of the back four's up to anything anyway

I retract the moron remark, and you are indeed right with this post. We need the heroes to step up and make something work. At very least, a 1-0 deficit wouldn't be too bad.

Look at the italian police though! fecking unbelievable what the europeans get away with!

Sometimes the ball is already in place before the ball that's in play even goes out - see their goal, which was taken the split second the original ball went out of play. When we're pressuring, it takes an hour and a half for the ball to make its way to us. Imagine that.

I still feel somehow there is a draw in this for us, but Scholes really hurt us with that tackle. Totti rolling around as if he had been exterminated didn't help either.
 
I'm hoping that Roma become cocky...and that we will sneak an away goal. That is my dream. If not..roma will get another and then it will be really difficult. However, Fergie did say that we didn't have the same maturity that the 99 team did. I would settle for the league this year....

I just don't get how we play so poorly in Europe. Even with 11 men, we were playing a slow tempo patient approach which just isn't what we do.

We need to hide our weakness of perhaps not having a "defensive midfielder" and play to our strengths, which is higher tempo, attacking, gung-ho if you will, football. I don't know whether it's tactics or our players are just not up to it.
