Putting Smith into a high pressure game like that in the center of the park against a group of diving, cheating players will be a massive gamble. Smith can be a liability, very akin to Scholes. It isn't his natural position, and imo Fletcher is the better player. Put Smith as a Striker, not a midfielder.

you do have a point about those diving cnuts. Fletch is a viable alternative. I still start with Saha unless Smithy is more match fit.

This is the type of match that Park should be playing in if he is able. The whole idea in the return leg is to harry Roma and not let them play. Park is very good at this type of play and anything that frustrates Roma is likely to get them off of their game. I also think that Ronaldo will get a call or two more go his way at OT as well.

Saha should absolutely start the next CL match, if fit. If United get a decent lead and Roma have to chase the match then you bring Smith on for Saha and let him run at their defenders.
