Cristiano Ronaldo's agent has admitted that contract negotiations with Manchester United have stalled.
The Portuguese winger is in talks over a new deal to remain at Old Trafford, amidst the continued turmoil of Malcolm Glazer's takeover.
Jorge Mendes, who represents Ronaldo, told the Daily Star that his charge was in limbo at the current time.
"Negotiations are at a standstill," said Mendes.
"I am still waiting for a call from the club."
The situation with Ronaldo has inevitably led to assertions that the sensational winger will be sold.
Real Madrid have been credited with an interest - and director of sport Arrigo Sacchi underlined that the club would like to sign the player.
"The quality that he has and his age mean that he would be welcome at any club in the world," said Sacchi.
Meanwhile, Argentine defender Gabriel Heinze has urged Glazer to reveal what his plans are for the club.
There are reports that the American tycoon could sell off Old Trafford to help pay the debts he has incurred in taking over the club.
"The truth is I still don't know what the new owners' intentions are," Heinze told The Sun.
"I need to wait and see and to get an idea about the route the club is going to take.
"The players certainly haven't felt isolated from the demonstrations.
"They make sense because the fans feel a special affection for United.
"I'd like to think that if Glazer's willing to buy United, it's because he has the best intentions and wants the place to grow even bigger than it already is."
