This adjustment in Ronaldo's style of play has left me wondering whether we will see more of the 06/07 Ronaldo. Obviously, he wasn't too shabby last year either, yet I still feel that he was superior the year before.

I felt that he took control of games more during that year, and it was absolutely brilliant to watch. Pity that he's such a bellend!

The main reason Ronaldo has more assists this season is because he has players who can finish now. Giggs has been threatening this season, Berbatov and Rooney are forging a good partnership and are both hitting a nice patch of form and so Ronaldo has more targets to aim at.

His role hasn't changed at all.

I doubt he's been formally instructed to stay wide, but he has been putting in more crosses so far than he did last year.

His crossing from the right in the second half was poor against Blackburn. Normally he has the speed and trickery to create the foot of space that he needs to get the cross over, but yesterday they were often being blocked. I put it down to lack of physical and match fitness. Once he gets those back he'll be devastating again.
